But more and more Im already running away from the forums im shocked to see what they let go on in some of the forums The other day i went in one and some little girl was talking about if she should be getting with her bf for the 1st time I was like omg how old are you and she said 11............. I about hit the floor It scares me how kids are now and to think that its only gonna get worse if things dont change and fast... This is just insane. Has she even hit puberty yet?

I'm always cautious online, in general. I have am not on any more alert here than other places I visit. The language here surprises me, considering the PG-13 rating.

I agree with the unbiased pool of adults. What worries me more than what kids are posting in the life issues forum is what people are posting as ADVICE. I mean I have heard people "advise" suicidal Gaian's to take their lives. I've seen people "advise" girls who've been stalked to sleep with their stalkers. I mean the advice seems to go along the lines of "you're stupid" "kill yourself" or "just screw him" I mean YIPES. If I had a kid whose peers told them that I would be mortified.

That is terrible, think that is why I stick to the guild anymore, it is just not safe to speak to some people.

My dear, I don't pretend to be unbiased. I've already learned the hard way and would prefer to save others the heartache.

Unfortunately Gaia is a prime breeding ground for predators and jerks. We're the exceptions, most of Gaia is 15 or younger. As cute as our spunky avatars are they do swimmingly cover up someone's real age. In the world of Gaia none of us have cellulite, wrinkles, or stretch marks because we're visualized as adorable little avatars without flaws.

And we can all be someone else if we choose. I do not lie to any one about my age or being married with a son. That is just not me.

I feel young, though I'm on the older side. I also play video games, watch anime, etc. But I also appreciate intelligent conversation. That's why I decided to find guids with older members. If this wasn't available, I would probably only visit the site once a month if anything.
A girl IMed me out of the blue to chat. She claimed we were friends from Gaia - I didn't recognize her screen name. After chatting for a few moments, I knew right away that she was a teenager. She asked how I knew - I said it was from the way she typed. I can stand a little netspeak now and then, but it was ALL net speak. It was hurting m' head.
However, I was friends with someone who is about my age, and I ended up stopping our communications because he was quite immature.

No kidding, this site makes me feel REALLY old. And I'm only 23, for crying out loud!
I think it's because I spend most of my time in GD. If any of you have ever been there, you'd know that it's a haven of depravity and immaturity. My age, plus the fact that I don't revel in topics with "p***s" in the title, make me feel a little past my prime.

SydneySkye Randilin Personally I choose not to feel that way. Instead I feel that those people are just to young for something as kewl and good as Gaia. if they continue to bother me I suggest politely that they go do there home work or clean their rooms.. Hey can you convince my son to do that? That being said I have had some amazingly good conversations and found out at the end that they were 13. So I don't want to paint them all with the same brush. @Sydney-Nice cool You said what we all were thinking 4laugh
Yeah, I have a friend thats thirteen, and you'd never know by talking to her. And I have a friend that's eighteen, and he's so immature and that gets to me. I'm a very patient person with people, but sometimes it almost gets irritating : ( It all depends on the person, and less about the age 3nodding

I've been on Gaia for about 3 1/2 years and now more often than not feel like I've out-grown it BUT I really think it's because the average age of the user has gone DOWN. When Gaia started, it attracted an older crowd, 18-25. As the admins advertised more and more, it attracted the younger set with it's adorable avatars and anime/RP based site. THAT'S when the the PG-13 rules had to go into effect.
It wasn't until I stopped modding that I removed my birthday from my profile to avoid any sort of "backlash". You see, I come from the GD and ANYTHING can and will be used against you...so I prefer not to hand them the fact that I'm now 30 and on Gaia.
I've been disappointed with "adult" guilds in the past, most of them "new" adults, 18+ whining about how "old" they are.
You're only as old as you feel. I still feel 17. I still enjoy coming to Gaia because I DO enjoy having friends of all ages, on and OFF line.
I'm just sick of them thinking ANYONE over the age of 18 is a *****. b***h plz. I have NO interest in sex, let alone sex with a kiddo.

I'm just glad to now that their are people my age here. When I first joined I just saw that everyone was eith 14 or 200,000 years old according to their profiles. Knowing that there are others makes me feel better about being here.

My age, plus the fact that I don't revel in topics with "p***s" in the title, make me feel a little past my prime. I go into GD thinking "maybe I'll find a decent thread I can post in" and every time I end up scanning the list of topics and muttering to myself at the inanity. I don't even dare go into Life Issues. Anyway, I'm 24 and there's a part of me that wonders if I should be on a site like this. All the crass, throwaway, purely-for-attention posts I see from the younger teenagers just amplifies that feeling; I could never post like that. But Gaia is a fun place regardless, and of course finding a group of like-minded souls can't hurt matters any!

I like it over here or I just go post about my favorite type of music, country. smile At least we have 1 thing in common over there and here. We are all a bit older, which is good too. smile
I mostly gather stuff in towns. Once in a while I find a nice group to chat with, but if htey start swearing, I'm out of there. I don't need to see that. I don't think I'm really that old anymore. I keep my profile minimized to reduce spam. Logical precaution.
