Ares began to get hoisted up after feeling the life escape his body from the nasty powerbomb. Realizing the predicament he was in, he began to strike down directly on the dome of Lykos with a few rights. Using his left hand to grab the locks and lift the head of his opponent.

Lykos thought he had things well in hand but Ares still seems to have some fight left in him. Clocked in the head, he has no choice but to release the challenger instead of dropping him as intended

Ares would drop down, catching himself, but stumbling back a step after landing. Evaded a bullet, but he wasn't clear just yet.

Lykos may have dropped the challenger, but he's not done dishing out punishment. With Ares now on his feet, Lykos attempts to take his head off with a clothesline

A second too late, once Ares got his footing, he would get blasted by the clothesline, dropping him down to the mat where he would hold his throat where the stiff lariat connected.

Lykos had been fortunate to land that last move and now brushes his hair out of his face again, looking down at Ares. Time to switch tactics as he reaches down to grab him by the throat, attempting to hoist him up off the mat and into a chokeslam

It seems the damage from the clothesline was all Lykos would need to pick and drop Ares down for a nasty chokeslam in the center of the ring.

as soon as he drops Ares back to the mat, Lykos drops down beside him and hooks the leg for a pin, hoping that was enough to put the challenger away

Dropping net to the two competitors. The official made sure both shoulders were down as he started the pinfall.
One! Two! Thr--!
The last second buzz beater kick out would see that this match continued. Ares was feeling everything, but he was still alive.

Lykos sits up after the kickout, clearly in disbelief. He'd gotten some height and put some power behind that chokeslam. Still, he can't leave here as champion unless he puts Ares down for the count...again.
Forcing himself up again, he goes to pull Ares up with him to once again aim to hit him with the Howler

Getting forced to his feet, Ares realized how exhausted his body was after taking the last chokeslam. Thigns were not looking great at this point, despite the great start he had. And it was about to get worse, Ares began to get picked up. And lifted for the Howler once again, but like last time, he had one more answer. As he got picked up, the challenger looked to power himself over and behind Lykos. This time trying his best to catch his footing.

Lykos once again loses grip on the challenger as he manages to leap down behind him, throwing the champion slightly off balance as he was intending on dropping him forward not backward

Finally an opening, grabbing at the off balanced opponent, Ares turned Lykos around, pulling his arm. Immediately looking to follow up that action with a deep kick planted in the gut of the champion and quickly hooking both arms of his opponent for the Double Underhook DDT (Terminus)

Lykos turns, right into a kick to the gut, forcing him to double over. Arms hooked, it looks like perhaps Ares is on his way to a victory.....until Lykos yanks his arms free and attempts to spin free, then grab one of Ares' arms and pull back towards him, looking to lift him up and drive him backwards with the Wolfsbane (elevated reverse STO/End of Days)

Just when it seemed like he had it all won, Lykos showed how resilient and quick to adapt he was. Pulling in Ares after escaping the lock on the arms Ares had, he would deliver a devastating Wolfsbane.
