Mathis nodded in agreement with Lexi and held out both his hands towards the wall that blocked their escape. He could have done more destructive things such as freeze it to a point of shattering but he chose the constructive path. A stairway made of ice began to rise from the frost that Mathis was spewing onto the ground from his hands. Meanwhile the pursuers made chase. They immediately sped up to try and keep with the duo and once the car was rendered useless they abandoned it. They came around the corner and fired at Lexi and Mathis with very odd looking guns that were loaded with darts, not bullets.

Lexi Darksilver Halo With Mathis's agreement to her suggestion, Lexi turned to face the entrance of the ally while Mathis did his thing. She rose a barrier between them and the entrance of the ally way. It wasn't long before those in the car rounded the corner on foot and opened fire. The darts bounced harmlessly off her shield and clattered to the ground, but they had Lexi's curiosity. No powers, no real bullets? She returned fire with some of her energy balls.

There were three men total. Two from the front of the car and one from the back. They all had dart runs but when Lexi began firing back they seemed to lose any organization they had. The closest two dove onto their stomachs to avoid her attack while the third dropped into a sort of turtle looking position. When he saw that Mathis stopped building an escape. He was not going to run from someone who dropped into a turtle position. "Wait wait! We want to help you!" The turtle man cried out.

Lexi Darksilver Halo Lexi stopped her attack when the man huddled on the ground, but she didn't lower the shield. Nothing about this situation was adding up for her, but she wasn't going to attack a man curled up on the ground, nor at the two laying on their stomachs. So she eyed them warily, trying to see if there was anything in their auras that would give away their intentions. “Which part of shooting at us is helping exactly?” She asked, her tone slightly annoyed. The pain in her side hardly had her in the best mood to start with, not to mention the whole Concussion incident in general. Either he was telling the truth, in which case she was annoyed about being cornered and shot at, or they were lying, in which case she was annoyed about them attempting such a ploy.

"Well... we just thought... you know... it would be easier to explain later." One of the two on the ground responded as he came to his feet. They all stood now but they did not try to shoot Lexi or Mathis. "We are part of a small group in the city who are trying to protest the Dominion leadership in... semi-peaceful ways?" The man's tone at the end made it seem as if he was trying to find a justification for what he happened. Mathis said nothing and the man's aura would say little past that he was telling the truth. "I'm David, this is Saul and this is Jet." The man who had been speaking the whole time explained as he pointed to his allies.

Lexi Darksilver Halo Lexi wasn't exactly sure they wanted the help of these three men. They seemed rather incompetent, disorganized and confused. However they were in the middle of Dominion territory with a founder actively hunting them down. Beggars couldn't be choosers and if Mathis had a better plan he wasn't sharing it. She would need to trust in her aura reading abilities, and that these guys could at least give a place to lay low until they figured out their next move. “I assume you have a hide out of some kind you can take us to?” As much as she would like to interrogate them further before going off with them, they really needed to get off the streets before Concussion and his lackeys found them.

"Oh yeah... about that..." David began to scratch the back of his head. Saul and Jet had returned to his side by now and they began whispering things to him. David, having heard their words, finally said "We have our friend Doug's apartment. He is out of town for the week trying to protest in Texas."
"That'll work." Mathis said before patting Lexi on the shoulder and walking past the trio towards their car. They seemed confused for a minute about how easily Mathis had agreed to come with them but in reality he had simply agreed because they could not afford not to. These people, at the very least, appeared too inept to trap them. That was enough assurance for Mathis. Once he was in the back of the car the trip filled in and waited for Lexi to join them. If she did they would begin driving.

Lexi Darksilver Halo Lexi glanced towards Mathis before following him to the car. She found the casual physical contact a bit odd since he had always been so careful to avoid even the simplest things like a handshake. That was before the Dominion and though she hated to admit it, it seemed his time with them had solved his problem with his powers. Still it was among the many, many things she was trying to get used to now that he had come back. She was the first to arrive at the car after Mathis, and quickly slid in the back seat next to him. “The Dominion have to know about these guys.” She whispered to him before the three could get in. Hopefully they had decided they were too inept and not worth their time. However it was entirely possible they were being manipulated from behind the senses to root out more competent allies. Sometimes an unwitting and incompetent ally could do way more harm than an enemy could ever dream of inflicting.
Then David, Saul and Jet got into the car, forcing Lexi into the middle spot in the back. Mathis pressed against her on one side, Saul on the other, she clenched her fist together as anxiety bubbled up. Claustrophobia, born from her childhood abuse, was something she had never really gotten over, just better at hiding. Still she ended up unconsciously leaning against Mathis a bit in a effort to get more distance between herself and Saul. It seemed her subconscious had decided at least Mathis was familiar. “How did you find us?” She asked once they got moving.

"Some guy called us and told us to go to the corner where we found you at the time we found you." Saul responded. "He said that he was on his way but was having difficulty getting through the Dominion security." There was a moment of silence after that where the two in the front seat just nodded in agreement with what Saul had said. Then David chimed in "He told us he works for Providence and so we figured we should help."
Mathis gave a slightly confused look and then turned his head to face Lexi. He was trying to figure out who from Providence knew about what they were doing but he was also trying to figure out who from Providence would be able to get passed the Dominion security without having been part of it. "Did he give you a name?" Mathis asked to which Jet offhandedly said "He gave us a color."

Lexi Darksilver Halo Lexi was a bit concerned as Saul started speaking. She wasn't convinced these three weren't operatives who thought they were helping Providence but were really being manipulated by the Dominion from behind. But her lips curled into a bit of a knowing smile at the answer to Mathis's question. “Did that colour happen to be black?”

"Whoa! What the s**t! How did you know?" David seemed the most surprised out of the three that Lexi knew who they were talking about but Jet quickly shut him down saying "They probably know the guy, idiot." Then the two began to just shout at each other. Mathis just let them bicker because it didn't really impede anything. Saul had enough presence of mind to make sure the car stayed on the road. Before long the car would arrive at their destination and the three got out to go prep the rooms. "Thoughts?" Mathis asked Lexi since they were alone.

Lexi Darksilver Halo The arguing did nothing to improve Lexi's feelings of claustrophobia. She wanted to tell them to shut it, but instead clenched her jaw, did her best to tune them out and concentrate on her breathing. The Tranquil state was impossible to reach however. Her eyes would glaze over for a few second before the fighting would break her concentration. Perhaps if she had assumed it before hand, she could have maintained it, but now it was far too late. Her thoughts wondered over to how they had ended up here. Her fight with Mathis. The failure to kill Concussion. The panic on Mathis's face. Panic was something she had never seen from him before. Then again she had never seen him so openly angry before The Dominion got their hands on him either. She missed the man she had loved before The Dominion. A man who stayed in control of any situation, even when he wasn't, and gave a dickish condescending remark to put them in their place, usually with a bit of grin, instead of flying into a rage, shouting at people and slamming his fists on decks. Finally the ride was over and Lexi was all too happy to take advantage of the space by sliding over. She seemed a bit surprised when Mathis asked about her thoughts. She'd been having a lot of thoughts and it felt a bit like he had been reading her mind and was calling her on it, but after a second she decided he was asking about Black and their general current situation and cobbled together an answer. “If Black sent them we should be safe until he arrives, even as inept as they are. I'm not sure if his arrival is a good thing or not though. He must have predicted something we need his help with.”

"I don't like it. He had to have known we would come here so he should have reported us. He didn't." Mathis was beginning to think dark thoughts about Mr. Black. He was one of the newer faces in Providence that had shown up when Mathis returned to the group. He knew relatively little about the man and that didn't help the situation. The old Mathis, the one Lexi loved, had always been the most informed man in the room. That had given him the confidence in his decisions to act without emotion. Now he knew very little about anyone in the rooms he walked into and found it a constant irritation. Uncertainty. "We'll have to trust him until we have another option."

Lexi Darksilver Halo Lexi took a few seconds to think over Mathis's concern. She hadn't seen anything in him that she found alarming, though that wasn't necessarily foolproof. If anything, he reminded her of Mathis before The Dominion. Which might be why he was so distrusting of Black, though she thought better than to say anything along those lines. “Perhaps, but we know he didn't warn Concussion. I would think most in Providence wouldn't report us if they thought we had even a ten percent chance of taking out a founder.” At least she knew she wouldn't, as evidence of her sitting here. “It's war.” She gave a sort of helpless shrug. “It's impossible to really know who you can trust, but you can't win a war by yourself.” It wasn't particularly helpful, but it was factual. “If it makes you feel any better, I trust Mr. Black more than most.”

"Maybe I can't win the war by myself." Mathis lamented before getting out of the car. If Lexi had decided to trust Mr. Black there was nothing Mathis could do but leave and he didn't want to do that so he instead walked into the building where the three men had gone. Inside Jet and Saul were talking while David was on the phone. David had a pen in one hand and was trying to scribble things down onto a piece of paper as quickly as he could. Mathis entered just as David began wrapping up. "What's that?" Mathis asked David who was walking the list over to him. "Our contact says that you will be safe in any of these places for twenty four hours. After that if he hasn't found you, you're gonna have to move on your own."
