Throughout the exchange, Roulin's eyes were immersed within the world outside of the restaurant's crystal clear glass. The bike rack was right there next to a small shrub. Still, the metallic undulation used to secure the two wheeled vehicles were empty. Staring wasn't going to bring them back. The little Italian turned around and eyed the red head who'd had no luck in sleuthing. Her disappointed stare brought him down to Earth and he sighed after she did. Biting his lower lip he thought of the repercussions of her returning home without her bikes. He didn't want what played in his mind to befall his new best friend, so his resolve only strengthened. "I'm thinking....hold on Aimee. Ummm, take some tiss--" As the young detective went to retrieve a batch of napkins for the girl, he spotted a girl that was around his age riding a bike that resembled one of the two he neglected to remind Aimee to get yesterday. "Hey...hey! Come with me!" With only a moment's notice, he was out of the door with the french girl in tow.

The red head seemed to stare off into space, looking into the void of the bike rack and sighing again. That was until Roulin pulled the girl out of the shop and onto the street, watching her friend as if he had gone mad. "What are you doing?" The girl looked out onto the street and saw the girl on what looked like her bike. "Hey! That looks like my bike!" Aimee ran after the girl and stopped her, breathing heavily. "Hello... Um where did you get the bike?"

The little girl that Aimee stopped didn't show any surprise as her head eerily turned the face the older red head. Her eyes were steely blue and glazed as if she were under the influence of something. Her small grin was as cute as it was creepy. When her perfectly white teeth broke through her thin-lipped smile, Roulin decided to walk forward to inspect things. As the girl leaned closer to Aimee, Roulin's walk quickly became a concerned sprint. "...Aimee!" he yelped out calling the attention of the few people that walked the sidewalks this evening. "Aimee move! Get out of the--"
A crack of gunfire rang out like thunder amidst the two story buildings that lined the streets. Bystanders fell to their knees and there arms went up over their heads for protection. Nothing was hit though. The target Roulin, who was shot at from behind, was barely touched, save for his hair and his cheek. The little girl on the bike vanished in a spray of dust matching the colors she wore. She was but a mere illusion, but the bike was real. That was one bike returned. The other may have been with the shooter who was now in an alleyway down the sidewalk behind Roulin.

Aimee turned and flinched at the sound, looking at Roulin for a mere second before putting her hands over her ears. Openning her eyes to her friend, she turned to look at the area where the girl was, but now only lay her bike. The little girl walked over and picked it up, a huge smile on her face untill she looked at the raven haired boy. "Roulin. Your cheek." The red head walked over to her friend and reached out, about to touch his cheek until she saw the hooded man. "Roulin! The man!" Aimee ran over to the alleyway with her bike in tow, looking straight at the man who had been watching them all day. She shivered slighting as she glared at him. "What do you want from us? Why have you been following us all day long?"

Roulin at first glance seemed to be dazed by the quick transpiration of everything. He couldn't feel the cut across his cheek, but the trickling of blood down his cheek was like a tear freshly shed. He was paralyzed by the sound of the gun fire and the face that it missed the back of his head by only a few inches. Why would anyone shoot at him? Of all people? Aimee's voice brought him back to his senses. "Huh? Wha--oh. Yeah, let's go!" He knew that he had an ability by his side as well as a healer. If it weren't for that, he probably wouldn't have rushed into the alleyway with the Aimee as recklessly as he did. Once in, the little girl was questioning the armed man. Roulin was prepared this time as was his telekinesis. What neither of them had noticed was that behind them, a wall of ice was erecting blocking the alleyway off from the outside. It was only until Roulin heard screams behind him that he looked to see. "I think this guy...wants our lives. Really, really badly..."

Aimee was distracted by the hooded man who now stood before them both, watching him intently. Just as she opened her mouth to talk, Roulin spoke first, causing her to turn and look at the frozen ice wall that had just been formed behind them. This was the barrier between the little owls, this owl who had been following them all day, and the outside world that could save them. The red head soon turned around, looking back at the hooded man with fire in her eyes. She didn't want this anymore, none of this, and what was worse, is that this mysterious man was standing between them and her bike. "Look, Mr. I don't know what you want, but I want my bike back." Aimee breathed in slightly, gaining courage to stand up to this mysterious man. "I'm not scared of you and your fancy tricks. Now give me back my bike." The girl stepped forward, her fist raised at the man.

Roulin's lavender eyes were now slits that beamed dull rays of malice into the dry, uncaring eyes of the taller man. The younger owl knew he was trapped her with him and so did Aimee. Although she could heal, the boy didn't want her to stay here for long with this guy. A healer could only heal but so much damage and this man, from looks alone, seemed to be way out of their league. "Aimee....." Roulin called through closed teeth. "Get your bike. Fast." The Sponge Owl knew that there wasn't anything that could stop his ability besides a sapper or death. With it, he pushed the man and it caused him only to stumble backwards before regaining his footing. After that, the young Italian ran forward and jumped at him screaming a shrill battlecry through the entire motion.

Aimee heard Roulin tell her to grab her bike. nodding to him as an understood thing. She ran over to the bike that was next to the mysterious guy, getting on it. "Roulin. Grab that bike against the wall." She watched her friend run at the man, grabbing his hand while he ran past. "We don't have time. Come on!" She started to peddle off, trying to gain some ground between the man and her and her friend. She was on the street, watching Roulin and waiting till he got on his bike. "Catch up to me!" She began peddling again, going off towards her house.

After seeing the little girl pass through the barrier of ice, Roulin figured that it was just a mere illusion. This Owl's power wasn't anything spectacular if that was the case and he could be easily beaten with just telekinesis alone. With all this in mind, he pulled himself from the man's chest and rolled to his side grabbing the bike Aimee had directed him to. The burly stalker was then struck with another wave of telekinetic force, but it didn't deter him from walking up to the young Presidiomni. Cornered now, he looked at Aimee as she got further and further away biting his lower lip in slight fear. He wasn't in pain for long as with a swift swing of his wrist, the older man knocked the younger Owl out, then lifted him by his collar. Soon after, a car on the edge of the street wheeled over to him and before getting in, the man waved the unconscious little boy just over the hood and a bit of blood trickled from the corner of his lips onto it. Leaving behind only a smile, the two drove away as bystanders watched helplessly and hopelessly.

Aimee stopped cycling as she heard the car pull up. Looking back she saw Roulin being dangled by his collar over the hood of the car. She jumped off her bike and ran after the car a couple of yards as they drove away. "Roulin! No!" She stood in the middle of the street crying, the car disappeared into the distance. "No..." The little girl sniffled as she turned around, not knowing what to do. Grabbing her bike, the red head began to make her way home. Walking slowly down the private drive of her home, she saw her father standing on the steps to the mansion. He had his arms crossed and looked angry, making Aimee angry as well. She dropped the bike on the ground at his feet and ran upstairs to her room, crying all the while. The little girl laid on her bed, replaying the image in her mind of her best friend being unconscious. "I shouldn't have left you. I am so sorry, Roulin... Please come back.."

(Annnd...next day.)
Roulin was the first to school today. It was an achievement he sat aside only for nerds, asians and people he believed had no form of a life outside of schoolwork. Ironically though, he was here and he was sitting along with the rest of his class as they completed a test. He made sure that he wasn't the first one to finish although he could've been thanks to the easiness of the questions presented. They were nothing to him nor were they to Aimee who sat by his side glancing over at him now and then in wonder. As occasionally as she looked over, he gave an askance back. Although jittery, he knew school was the safest place for him right now. There were people. A crowd for protection. When it was down to just four people in the class, Roulin lifted his light, lavender eyes to Aimee, then to the teacher before standing up and saying, "Finished" rather abruptly. After handing in his test, he walked outside and waited for the little red haired girl to pass by. He knew she had questions. She knew he had answers.

Aimee couldn't focus, she was worried. The little red head was late for school today, something she never did before. Oversleeping was her excuse, poor thing didn't get any sleep the night before because of what had happened during the day. She kept looking at her friend with sadness and wondering if he was okay. Soon after he finished, she did too. The little girl stood slowly, grabbing her bag as she walked up to the front of the room. "Here. I don't believe it'll be my best score ever. I apologize for that." Smiling her normal gentle smile, she walked out of the room in a brisk pace. Just as she did she closed the door and turned to her friend, giving him an enormous hug. "I was so worried about you. I saw the blood and I thought you were hurt. I couldn't do anything... All I could do was cry." Aimee began to sniffle, making her let go of the boy and rub her nose. "Okay. Tell me what happened after they took you away. I want to know everything."

The little Owl had been staring forth for what to him seemed like an eternity...or maybe a few hours or so. The tiles on the wall meshed together in his sight soon becoming a larger blur of what it's true form was. He wasn't looking anymore although his eyes were wide and seemingly aware. He was lost in thought. His ten year old imagination was running wild as piece by piece, he tried to keep himself from making up memories of what happened the day before. As Aimee shut the door to the classroom behind her, Roulin jumped from his seat almost falling over. He caught himself, then was hugged by the concerned little girl. Patting her back, he sighed and looked around checking for signs of anything at all suspicious. Once again, he knew he was safe. He had her and everyone else now. "Yeah...I was worried about you too. And I was bleeding? Cool..." The girl released him. Roulin then went to twiddling his thumbs as he thought about what happened after he was knocked out. "I can't tell you because I don't know," he replied earnestly. "When I came to, I was in my bed at my house next to my brother. Th--that's all I can remember Aimee. Don't cry..."

Aimee smiled and blushed, rubbing her face. "I'll be fine. I just wanted to make sure you were fine. I didn't want to lose another friend." Looking down the hall for second, she was seeing if anyone was around to see them . After she did so, she looked at her best friend. Aimee put her hand on his shoulder and smiled warmly. "Well, I am glad you are safe. Please never leave again. Or let me see you bleeding." The red head let her hand fall to her side, sighing as she looked out the doors at the end of the hall. "I want to go home. I didn't sleep at all last night. I was worried and hungry. I didn't eat either." She held her stomach for a second, then began walking. "I'm leaving. Are you coming with or no?" Aimee turned and looked at her friend, a small but weak smile on her face.

"I'll do my best not to," said Roulin, blinking a few times before methodically cracking his fingers and wrists. Despite his best efforts. he'd been unable to remember anything from the day before besides the fight and waking up in a sweat next to his sleeping brother. For Aimee and himself, he wanted to remember. At least just to have some clues or something. Nothing popped up in his ten year old mind though. Frustratedly, he nodded and waved his hand at Aimee gesturing for her to leave. "I'm--just going to go home. I brought your bike back this morning, so yeah. Try to get something to eat and some rest alright?" All the while, his worried lavender eyes peered forward into the tiles of the elementary school's wall. Only after she vanished from his sight would he move.
