Sorry to be a nuisance but how much is 'standard level gold for a 3rd level character'?
Anyway... so far: armor of sudden recovery +1 (3rd level from Adventurer's Vault 2, Rod of Corruption +1 (3rd level from Player's handbook), & Amulet of Elegy +1 (2nd level from adventurer's vault 2)
Just need to make sure so I don't be overpowered with my equipment, because otherwise I'm done there.

Okay, so I finally downloaded a copy of the player's handbook for DnD 4e. I want to make this mounted javelineer so that falls under the Ranger class right? Also, if I'm gonna use Point Buy, how many points do I have because I'm kinda confused about the stat rolling gig. I'm starting to read the manual though. XD

Pretty sure for point buy you just follow the standard method in the PHB, it's on p.17.
Rolling isn't that complicated, and I highly recommend it. With the system he has set up it's almost guaranteed you're going to at least break even with point buy and chances are fair off a bit better.
This is what you do for the rolls.
You roll 4 d6s and you do this 7 times, so you should have a total of 28 d6 rolls.
If any of your d6 rolls come out as 1, you get to reroll that die until you get a number higher than 1.
After you completed all the rolls, you drop the lowest roll for each set of 4.
So for instance let's say for your first set you roll 6, 3, 2, 6. You would drop the 2 and you would be left with 6, 6, and 3. After that, you add it up, so that comes to a total of 15.
You do that for all 7 sets and after you finish all 7 you drop the lowest one. So let's say your totals are 18, 18, 15, 14, 12, 11, 9. You would drop the 9, leaving you to assign the other 6 to whatever stat you want.

What do you do if you have 2 lowest scores on a roll? Like 5, 3, 5, 3 which means there are two three's?
