Odessa giggled a little at the males expression when the utensils were brought out "don't worry, we eat normally they are just to help dish out the food and make little to no mess as possible, Lenore will be the one using them" she said as she looked at Oliver deciding what to have first "oliver, darling, just a little bit at a time, if you want more later you can have it but till then just take a little" she said as she crossed her two front legs and smiled at the pup.
Oliver sat down and pointed at each of the meats, the two types of roasted potatoes and the pumpkin and then at the veggies and gravy then just waited for the human to dish it out.
Lenore dished out the food, one of each of the roasted stuff, a small spooful of veggies and a couple of slices each of the meat and then added gravy to it and placed it in front of the pup who happily started to eat it.
Sayako had placed her head on Thane's shoulder, she was a little tired but other wise she was fine, she couldn't wait to have something to eat thoug, the wait was getting to her a little too much now, her stomach was even starting to grumble a bit.
"You two may go if you wish" Odessa said to Thane and Sayako, they were the guests after all.
Thane smiled thanks to Odessa and pointed out what he wanted, Sayako after him and watched Lenore dish it out and place the two plates in front of them both.
"You go" she said to the male beside her "I can wait" she said, having always been taught that it was polite to let the guests/family members go first before giving herself food.

Gersif nodded at Odessa's explanation, he was relieved having had no clue how to even begin to use them, he watched Oliver pick out his food then Thane and Sayako, he still wasn't sure what he would get since he wasn't yet all that hungry but he couldn't exactly say no either so when Odessa told him to go he just sort of stared at it all looking from the food to her not sure what to do or get, maybe he'd try things he hadn't had before. He pointed to the potato salad, coleslaw, and the double chocolate mud cake, he wasn't sure how they would taste having never had them before but he shrugged figuring why not give it a go while it was here to be had. He hoped he liked it.

"Just to let you know for future, mud cake usually comes after the main" she said smiling at him, hoping he wasn't thinking that cake was a usual staple main course food item.
Thane and Sayako had started to eat, watching the others and softly smiling to themselves as their eyes landed on on Oliver, part of them didn't want this child to be brought up by anyone else by them but maybe...just maybe, he would be in good paws.
Odessa looked at the food whilst the others ate and pointed out what she wanted, waited for the plate to be placed in front of her and then took a bite of a sweet potato and savoured the taste, this was heavenly, this might be just a special occasion sort of thing but when it did happen she had to eat as much as she could even if she couldn't after a certain while.

Gersif nodded at Odessa, he hadn't noticed that the rest hadn't taken any desert, he was used to taking everything the first time through to ensure you'd get what you wanted otherwise it would be gone by the time you went up again. He would have to get use to this... there were a lot of things he would have to get use to.. a lot of adjustments to make. He would make them.
He had waited for Odessa to receive her food before he started eating himself he remembered vaguely when he was little it was the rule of the house, it wasn't something he had ever thought about since, but old memories long forgotten had been bubbling to the surface since he met Oliver and he began to fall back into old ways, there was a shift happening in him like sand slipping out from underfoot his lone life slipped out to expose the foundation of his early childhood.
Digging into his food he found he quite enjoyed the potato salad and licked the plate of all the remnants of it. The coleslaw on the other hand wasn't quite what he had hoped it would be and though he ate it in order to not be rude he was glad he had something left to clean his palette. Now he had to decide if he would wait for the others to get dessert or dig in and get the taste out of his mouth.

Odessa ate her food and smiled at the other "it is alright, eat the cake, we are going to be finished soon anyway and besides, it isn't like you can't not have more" she said as she finished her plate of food soon after.
Lenore had sat back with her own plate and ate, watching the others and looking out towards the lake, it was beautiful and seeing the othere kitsus swimming and tending to their own thing was nice and relaxing, she knew these days would be comming to an end soon as the colder days arrived but right now, she was pleased that there was still a bit of sun left. "Oh" she said as she remembered the drinks "anyway one something to drink?"
Thane and Sayako nodded as each of them pointed out to the water and orange juice.
Lenore picked up two extra bowls and poured a bit of orange juice into one and water into the other and handed them to each of them "there you go" she said smiling at them before looking to Oliver who had decided to go straight for the cola which made her look at Odessa and Gersif "is he allowed?" She asked, deciding to check first.
Sayako looked up and looked over at the parents "I gave him carbonated drinks only on special occasions, he had water or, if I could get it, freshly squeezed orange juice other wise" she said, having allowed him to have a few drinks of it in the time he was with her when she had friends over or whatever.
"Well then..." she said as she turned her head from Syakao to Gersif "I don't have a problem with it, as Sayako said, it was only special occasions so care to let him have some just for tonight?" She asked, deciding that this was, after all, a joint effort so if one said yes and the other no they would have to come to some compromise.

"That was wise of you Sayako, thank you for your discerning judgment. Yes I think this is special occasion enough to deserve it if he so desires." He smiled down at Oliver with a 'go ahead you can have some' look. Gersif himself had never been partial to carbonated beverages, they were too harsh on his nose and throat and always made his stomach uneasy, but if the boy wanted them now and again he couldn't deny the child, so long as it was only now and again and not a regular occurrence.
He smiled too at Odessa in thanks for including him, they were going to have to be partners in this and provide a united front, this was a good start with great promise and he was very grateful to her for that.
He chose to point to water himself, good clean water was always a joy for him and he rarely drank anything else. He liked to think it helped keep his body pure rather than loading it with junk as some kitsus he knew do. He wasn't opposed to all junk at his plate testified to, he just believed that to everything there was a balance and in that balance one would find peace. So water it was to clean out his palette and then to enjoy his dessert. A contented sigh passed his lips, he had never realized how tightly he held his heart always afraid of a new scar, never staying in one place long, this family was making his heart feel lighter than it had ever been since his grandfather's death, they were good for him and he hoped he could be just as good for them.

"Thank you daddy, thank you mommy!" Oliver said excitedly, waiting for the drink.
Lenore softly giggled at the pup and opened up the cola and poured some into a bowl and placed it in front of him and then got a bowl and water and tipped some into it also and placed it in front of Gersif and then poured Odessa some orange juice and placed it in front of her, knowing she would of asked for it sooner or later and then took a cup from the basket and poured herself some orange juice also.
"Youre welcome" Sayako said, smiling at Gersif "I was always taught that carbonated drinks were not good for kitsus let alone having them all the time, much like it isn't for humans, so I thought it was best to teach that to Oliver also" she said as she took a drink.
Thane finished his meal, watching the others, he would have to stick around, this family setting wasn't too bad.
Odessa smiled at the others, in a way she wanted this day to end already but she didn't either, it was way too much fun and Oliver was having a a great time but as much as she was enjoying herself her mind drifted bck to her own family and what happened today, she was sure she was now disowned and she wouldn't blame them, what she had done, for good reasons or not, wasn't how they brought up their daughter.

Gersif smilled at being called daddy, it felt a little odd but he liked it.
A nod to Sayako "I agree completely" his words were a little muffled as he tried to swallow the last bits of dessert. It was good, really good and if he had anymore room in his stomach he would have another piece.. or two, but he had never been that big of an eater "I have always thought it too harsh on my senses but as this is our first picnic together as a family, it seems a special enough occasion to warrant it." a smile again as he rubbed Oliver's head. He was a good kids. A look to Odessa and he watched her smile fade, her eyes seemed to go distant deep into her thoughts, he weaved a tail through hers to pull her back to the present anchor her here in the now, it was too good a moment to ruin with thoughts.

Oliver carried on drinking, it had been too long since he had tasted this, he wanted to savour every moment.
Sayako nodded "I have thought the same, I don't mind a mouthful every once in a while but I am happy to just stick with orange juice or water but yes, tonights picnic is fine, he got his parents back after all, I think this is as good enough reason as any to have some soda."
Odessa looked up once she felt a tail wrapped around hers and looked over to see Gersif and smiled softly but just in time to hear the word parent which made her want to vomit again, sure she was getting used to this... slowly, but some things she still couldn't handle hearing and 'parent' was one of them even though technically she was his parent now but still she just wasn't used to knowing that actual word came with the job of being his mother, it still seemed so wrong.

Gersif smiled back at Odessa, but winced when she looked as though she was going to be ill. Had he moved too fast? He hoped it wasn't because of him that she took such a turn, perhaps she had eaten too much? He wanted to ask if she felt alright but he didn't want to upset Oliver or ruin the happy mood of the others.
A look of concern on his face he studied hers trying to decipher her mood and the cause. A paw placed gently on hers he tightened his toes to grasp her paw the only way he could really hold her hand. He wanted her to know he was there for her, she wasn't alone and she could confide in him. His eyes locked on hers willing his thoughts to her, thoughts of encouragement and support.
After a few moments he tore his eyes away he didn't want it to become awkward for her and he didn't want the others to see any troubles. His attention went back to Oliver and then what little was left of his dessert which he cleared with ease

Odessa had looked at him, understood for the most part but shook her head to clear the thoughts but couldn't so easily so she got up "I just need to go to the bathroom, please excuse me" she said as she took off to the closest bush but as far away from the others as possible so she could have some privacy and the others couldn't hear her vomit.
Sayako got up and bowed a little "excuse me" she said as she took off to follow Odessa.
Oliver watched his mother go and shrugged, she would be back in a few moments and ate the last bite of his meal before looking at the dessert "cake!" He said happily as he looked between them, wondering which to try first.
"Lets just wait till your mother and Sayako comes back" Thane said to the pup who pouted "aww, alright" he said, hoping they wern't too long.

Gersif frowned concerned about Odessa, he looked to Thane wondering if he saw the same things Gersif did. He sighed, she would be alright he told himself, she just needed space. He forced his face to relax into a calm expression not wishing to alert anyone else. He couldn't help her any more than he had, it might push her away so he sat watching Oliver trying to decide on dessert, a small smile crossed his lips. He laid himself down closing his eyes focusing on finding his inner calm. It hadn't gone too far so he managed to center himself rather quickly again and opened his eyes to enjoy what he could, an ear always honed in on the bush which hid Odessa waiting for any news.
"You can use the time to decide what you want" He smiled at Oliver and gave a wink, there was always an upside to things... most of the time

Odessa came back moments later with Sayako and laid down next to Gersif again whilst the other took up her spot next to Thane "i'm sorry" she said as she drank some more of her orange juice "false alarm" she said, half telling the truth and half not, she did vomit a little but it was more of a 'baby barf' then anything which she was glad about, not that she was getting used to it but the mere fact she could eat some more nice food to get rid of the taste.
Oliver had already decided what he wanted and got up happily again and pointed out to Lenore that he basically wanted a bit of everything.
Lenore was happy to oblidge, she put a little bit of everything onto two plates and placed them both in front of him "enjoy" she said smiling at the pup, hoping he would be able to eat it.
Oliver laid down and dug into his dessert happily.
Thane got up and looked over at the others "please, excuse us" he said as she got up and gestured to Sayako to follow him.
Sayako got up and left also, curious to know what was going on and wanting dessert but obviously that could wait.
Odessa looked at Lenore and pointed out what she wanted and waited as she turned and looked at Gersif "my apologies about before, it was nothing" she said honestly as it wasn't, not really anyway "I promise I won't leave like that again, at least not for a while" she said, feeling tired all of a sudden but ignored it, she would just sleep well tonight.

Gersif shook his head "Don't be, you have nothing to be sorry for." He said nothing more on the subject, there was nothing else to say.
"Careful Oliver, you don't want to eat too much sweet food it will make your stomach upset." Gut rot if he remembers right, least he was pretty sure that's what his human calls it. Either way he's seen it happen to far too many kitsu's and humans alike and he wasn't about to let his son make it a habit. He'd warn him and if Oliver chose to ignore the warning and get gut rot he would learn a lesson and be less likely to do it in the future... hopefully he would heed the warning and save himself the pain.
Gersif watched the two questioningly as they walked of a ways, he wondered what that might be about, surly they couldn't be deciding to expose Odessa and himself as frauds not when they have played along so far, it would damage their own relationship with the boy. So what could it be?
"Don't worry about it" he smiled at her, honest and reassuring. He hazzards a lick to her cheek hoping once again he was being comforting and wasn't being too forward. He had kept to himself most his life never finding a girl worth troubling himself over, he didn't know the right moves from wrong save for when he had witnessed the consequences of others actions. He had to be a quick learner in those years... he hoped they would serve him well now.

"No I wont!" Oliver said in protest as he took a bite of cheesecake and savored the taste.
"Darling, you will, listen to your father" she said smiling at the pup and then sighed "or at least, if you are going to eat that much, eat slowly and make sure you chew your bites properly and stop if you start to feel full even a little" she said, hoping he would listen.
Oliver nodded "alright mommy" he said as he ate some more of his cheesecake.
Odessa smiled at the male before stifling a yawn, she was getting more tired by the minute but she forced herself awake for Olivers sake "I am getting tired" she whispered to the other, closing her eyes a little she placed her head on his shoulder, half knowing what she was doing and half knowing it was something she could use as a pillow and that was all.
Sayako came back moments later and laid down, Thane not with her and pointed out what she wanted to eat for dessert and waited for the plate to be put down before licking a bit of cream off the ice cream and turned to the others "Thane will be back in a sec, he has just gone to get something" she said as she took a small bite of ice cream so she wouldn't get a brain freeze.
