Claire was confused about what Mushi had said. What was it that had been so traumatic that he was trying to protect Arliss from? She raised her hand to the back of her neck before addressing Io, "Yes I believe so. I think it has something to do with the growth of negetive energy in the West lands, and the shift of humans toward the East, and the rumor of war."

Then Claire felt an arm around her shoulder. Nana? Her eye twitched. "I'll show you who's old..." She whispered just loud enough for him to hear.

Jamie smirked "For future reference," he whispered "you can't give me an opening like that and not expect me to take advantage of it." he took his arm from Claire's shoulder and flashed Io another one of his winning smiles "I think we all know that's not a normal storm." he stated, raising his voice "Anyone wanna go be heroes?"

"Heroes?" Arliss smirked, "Who said anything about being a hero." He started walking towards the door. "I just want to kick some a**, maybe give the local undertaker some business." Mushi flicked his wing hard against Arliss's head and he winced, not because it hurt but because he knew Mushi wasn't happy, not that he felt he needed to care all that much. But keeping Mushi happy meant Mushi wouldn't hinder him in a fight.

Stepping outside, Arliss looked out to the oncoming storm, a wild look in his eye.

Claire narrowed her eyes at Jamie. "Heroes? Hey now wait a minute, nobody gets to be a hero. No saving the damsel, the day, the world, nada. You hear me? Thats dangerous talk when we know nothing about the situation or who or what is causing it." She turned to yell out the front door to Arliss, "That goes for you too, Arliss! Listen to the bat for a change!" She turned to face the others and sighed audibly. "Io, please excuse these two for whatever they do... Their acting a little immature in the presence of danger and possible violence."

Io smiled a hopeless smile. She was nervous, but, in a way, she found Jamie's attitude comforting...though Arliss's hotheaded departure didn't have quite the same effect.

"You don't have to excuse their behavior," she said, "but you're right. Whatever it is that's coming is close...and it isn't good. My parasite is getting increasingly agitated and that's never a welcome sign. What do you plan to do? I...I offer my assistance in any way I can."

Io could hear Valko cursing in the back of her mind. She didn't know how long she could hold him there. She immediately regretted offering her aid...she feared Valko would make her a liability.

Telaer followed the others outside, and Cuddles hooped up onto his shoulder when he got close enough, already missing the petting Io had given. There were so many advantages to being in a cat's body. When Telaer stepped outside he looked to the cloud grimly and remained silent for a moment. "Hey Kal. If things start to get out of control..." He let the sentence drop off. Cuddles simply nodded.

Cuddles actually could remember the last time things got out of hand quite clearly, even though it was so long ago. It was certainly... theatrical. The small cat hoped that Telaer could keep it together, otherwise he wouldn't exactly be all that helpful to anyone.

Jamie put his hands on his hips and laughed "Aw, c'mon Nana." he turned his head back to her and raised an eyebrow "If it wasn't for heroics, there might be one less girl in this town round about now. Remember that." he strode outside, and gazed at the clouds "Doesn't mean I'm stupid about it," his attitude turned serious "preparation breeds survival."

The temperature in Jamie's immediate vicinity dropped, and frost with an evil aura appeared around his feet "Jamie, if whatever this is is on the ground, Ice Demon will be active." Alaria said in resignation "If not, we will engage in the air."

"I don't have a plan." Claire offered with a smile and stepped outside with Telear and Arliss. There wasn't much point cleaning the mess in the tavern now. The storm had grown to massive proportions, and cloud to ground lightning flashed and cracked menacingly. The wind was beginning to pick up too, and the whole thing was still spinning around the same origin. The West Lands. The tension in the air had become thick, and she could feel the emotions everywhere rising in anticipation.

"Boys, I think the s**t is about to hit the fan. And I hope that girl you saved has left town... Because whatever that force is that's creating that mess is, it's going to come straight to us." The air and ground around Claire was beginning to drop several degrees as she absorbed the little heat energy from the air and rock. A light frost formed on the ground around her feet. "By the way, I disagree. Strength breeds survival."

Jamie glanced at the ground around Claire <Waitasec...if she's the Fire elemental, why's she...>

"Jamie, she's not creating frost. Very much the opposite, she's draining heat."

He smirked <Excellent.> "Here ya go, Claire." he raised his hand towards her, and the temperature around her rose again, allowing her to draw in even more heat.

Claire waved a hand at him nonchalantly. "Save your energy for when I may need it later. I've got plenty for now." She sighed lightly.

"If only the sun were up I'd really have enough then, but I can drain the heat from the lightning and from my enemy if necessary." She smirked at Jamie, sucking in what heat he had already released.

Io hesitated a moment before following the others outside. She didn't know how much help she could be in a physical confrontation...healing, defense, and buffs were more her forte.

"I won't be much help in a fight," she said, "but I can heal all of you if you become injured, and ward against negative energy. I have a spell that can make you stronger, harder to damage, and more focused, but it won't last forever. I'll cast it right before the fighting begins, unless there are objections."

Jamie nodded to Claire and looked back at the approaching storm. He squinted, thinking he saw something familiar about the clouds "Uh...Hey, guys? I think-" he grimaced.
**needles in his arms, something piercing his temples. A voice "He's stable. There's little to no energy flux, he's in complete control. If we"**
"No. Jamie, focus. Get up."
**a different scientist, holding up a medical bag of white smoke "The latest in parasite development, it shares an element to bind while having an opposite to"**
Jamie realized that he was kneeling on the ground "Ah, sorry." he shook his head closing his eyes "My head hurts a bit. Alaria, is it me or does that lightning seem familiar?"
**smiling "...obsolete. Technology can fail, but as long as he remains alive she will be fully capable of restraining him. He may be slightly weaker, but"**
"Not at all, Jamie. We've only come across one other of us since we woke up."
a naked man with a piece of mechanics in his chest"...war's over, and you didn't get a piece. Have a nice sleep." lights dimming, his evil grin. Sinister laughter.**
Jamie's eyes snapped open and he stood up, snarling at the clouds "Yeah, I've seen this before. This sh!thead's gonna die." the ambient wind picked up, sending the dust around Jamie swirling in the beginnings of a small dust devil "I don't know any of you, I don't care. I'll fight alongside you now, though." he narrowed his eyes, and lifted off of the ground a few inches "If you have to choose between safely dodging him and getting a hit in, dodge him."

Claire looked to Io with a deathly serious look. "Yes, please, and quickly. I have a feeling we're going to need all the support we can get." She patiently watched as Jamie sunk to the ground and recovered with a sudden drive to fight. "Don't be giving me orders, Jamie, I'm your elder rememb---" Suddenly a gigantic burst of dark energy blasted across the land, more felt in the soul than seen with the eyes. A column of Darkness rose up from the point of origin, and a dark shadow shot up the eye of the tornado it had formed. Lightning flashed heavily in the swirling mass, easily showing the tiny sihloutette from miles away. From this distance, it looked like two little twig like things sprouted from either side of the mass giving the tiny figure wings. It hovered momentarily. "Io! Quickly!" A slight undertone of panic could be heard within the rushed command.

((OOC: I figured you'd appreciate that. ^_^ If we're gonna be a dysfunctional family why not go all out eh? Oh and Vergil's post is coming so yall hold yer horses plz.))

Eyes twitched. It was noisy. Voices yelling and feet scurrying around. Fear. He sensed fear. It delighted him. A mechanical voice spoke in Vergil's mind. "Awaken, Vergil. The Stasis is dissapating, the sleep serum is wearing off. You can leave now. Do not forget the duffle bag I told you about before."

A broad toothy grin cracked across the boys face. The fluid he was suspended in was draining away and gravity took over. It took his frail limbs a moment to get used to standing. He ripped at the multitude of tubes and lines and wires connected to his body. Spider was firmly affixed to his chest. The wind picked up around the chamber and suddenly the container was sliced open. He was also completely nude. "Garments..." His voice was almost a hiss. He glanced up where a curved row of large dark windows stuck out over the expanse of the laboratory floor. That's where the masters were. Spider interupted his chain of thought. "The garments and the duffel bag, Vergil. Quickly." Vergil grinned and walked across the room guided by Spider's thought instructions.

He found a room labelled with his name. It was stark white inside like the rest of the building. A single white table held objects in a row. A heavy, black duffelbag, a black suit, carefully unfolded, a pair of dark sunglasses, a pair of socks, and a pair of black shoes: All tailor made for him, he was told. Once he was dressed, he stepped around the table to the back wall of the room, where a bloody scythe was carefully hung. Spider told him that this had been his mother's scythe that she used to carve down enemies in the First War. "Excellent." He grabbed it up and felt of the weight in his hands. "I can't wait to try it out!" A crazed expression crossed his face as he turned, and grabbed up the duffel bag. He laughed evilly before screaming. "Pure Darkness Release!"
"Release approved."

Darkness coated Vergil and he could feel every tendril spreading from his eyes and slithering down his body sending power into his muscles and healing the holes in his flesh where the needles and tubes had been. His fingers turned to dark claws. His feet became taloned with the darkness. His teeth became pointed. He was enveloped in a dark mass of wind and storm that vaulted him through the ceiling of the room. Above that was a cylinder of empty expanse with hundreds of windows, crisscrossing bridges, and elevator shafts. The night sky could be seen at the top. Hundreds of scared eyes watched from the windows as he shot past the whiteness of the below-ground, and into the darkness of the above ground. There, hovering a mile above, his wings sprouted. The storm began to slow its rotation as the air and the energy regained some of its lost balance. (The quiet before the true storm, if you will.) "Let's go have some fun!" "Remember the objective, Vergil.

Io gasped at the sudden influx of negative energy. She felt as though she'd been punched in the gut, but, spurred by Claire's urgent command, she quickly pulled herself together long enough to cast the spell. With a few quick hand motions and a muttering of words, Io was briefly enshrouded in a light that emitted outward and encircled her companions. As the light faded, all of her targets would instantly feel stronger, faster, more focused, and, hopefully, better able to tackle the heavy task at hand. It wouldn't make them invincible, but Io hoped that it would at least help give them the strength they'd need to win this fight.

"Useless wench," the influx of negative energy, paired with Io's momentary lapse in concentration when she'd cast the spell, allowed Valko to escape her influence. "You and these pathetic husks will die today, and I will rejoice in your slaughter. I will rot you from the inside out."

((The spell will last about 30-45 minutes, probably around 10-15 posts))
