ya rigth even if its true which it's not it's just wroung and against God's law and its gross and i say again why do you think God destroyed sodom and gomorra?

You didn't look it up, did you? Do some research, when you've learned enough that you know what you're talking about, get back to me.

ok. So say two guys get married ok? How is that gonna effect ur life? So wut ur in the grocery store "Ewwwww...those two guys r married..." IT'S NOT GONNA EFFECT UR LIFE A BUNCH. And if those guys get sinned by God then that's their problem if they go to hell. I think that people should just let it be legal and realize that they should keep their likes and dislikes to themselves instead of worrying about other peoples sins!

Okay, let's just do this. When you think about marriage, what pops into your head? Do I hear anything church-related? That's because marriage is a church ordinance that's recognized by the government. To make gay marriage legal would be to force churches to marry gay people. Well, marrying gays is against quite a few churches' religious beliefs. If the government were to force churches to marry gays, it would be a direct violation of the churches' first amendment rights. Now, don't explode on me. I do think that civil unions are alright. I have nothing against those because they don't infringe on anyone's first amendment rights. Legalizing gay marriage through civil unions would not be in violation of the rights of churches to practice their religion freely, because they wouldn't have to marry gays. In my opinion, as long as it's only civil unions that are legalized, I don't mind gay marriage. Or, even if the same rights are extended to churches who wish to marry gays, not forced upon the churches who do not.

What if these people who want to marry are religious as well? Don't you think that it also infringes on their rights as well?

Exactly!

marriage is a religious ceremony between a man and a woman
and being a homosexual is a sin its in the bible. Sin=death why do you think God destroyed sodom and gomorra? and in my opinion it's unnatural how many animals that ack gay? none

Actually homosexuality is almost universal in the animal kingdom. I don't just mean in zoos either, I mean in nature. There's even a species of monkey where the majority of the males are bisexual. Look it up, I think you'll find it interesting.

Yes, gay marriage should be legal, but I don't think that the government should be involved with marriage whatsoever. Some of the greatest people I've ever known are gay, and I'm bisexual. It's just so wrong to deprive someone of such a basic right because of their sexual orientation or gender. I thought we'd be past such things by now.

It's funny how people talk about the freedoms in the United States but they don't realize that they are oppressing and disenfranchising members of their own communities and country.

yes. If you are talking bout it "violates religion" then why the holy ******** can atheists marry? Apparently people here do not seem to know the difference between religious marriage and legal marriage. And to debunk another reason why cause people say it ruins the sanctity of marriage, how so? If there is anything that violates that is divorce. So why is divorce legal? Marriage aint gonna get no more violated then what it already is. And why are people even caring about something that has no affect on them what so ever? how will Bill and Ted getting married ruin you and Mary getting married? If "God" would rather see that 2 miserable heterosexuals in a relationship than 2 happy homosexuals in one then he aint no god of mine. Oh and stop using the Bible as an excuse cause the Bible (which makes good fire tender by the way)is not I repeat, is NOT our law. The Constitution is. Oh and homosexuality is not "unnatural" cause unnatural does not exist. Nature encompasses all. Plus if it would be considerd unnatural then why the ******** would they find over 500 species that have homosexual behaviors in them? End vent.

That doesn't make sense. If you respect their right to be together then you respect their right to marry. Marriage just makes it officially recognized by the state, that's all.

well Dusty Golightly can say it better than me

Dusty Golightly
People who object to gay marriage don't necessarily object to gays. Most have no problem with homosexuals living together. What they object to is them being married in a traditional way that has always been exclusively between a man and a woman. They believe it will be detrimental to family values. Whether they are right or wrong about that I personally can't say, and speaking of "personally", as a Christian I find it to be blasphemous to call a union between homosexuals a "marriage".

keep your religion out of my government! Ever heard of separation of church and state?Oh and btw over 1500 animal species have homosexual tendencies and there is more proof of natural selection and evolution than creationism which is by a contradictory book written in the bronze age. Noahs Ark and Talking snake sure, enjoy your little fairy tales and closeminded thinking. Not to mention that there is absolutly no evidence and I repeat NO ******** EVIDENCE of god and the bible which makes a good firestarter is NOT OUR LAW! so

James628
you dont have to be married at a church to legaly get married

I know, but Marriage should not be a legal issue, marriages were originally RELIGIOUS ceremonies bonding a man and a woman together.

And then Johnny Law came and stuck his nose where it didn't belong.

Sorry to sink the quote that floats your boat (hey, that rhymed xp )

But marriage isn't a basic right.

You are allowed to do it, but since it isn't in the Constitution, it isnt a "Basic Right."
