what were your thoughts on Near when you first saw him????

In the English dub, he sounds like a girl. It bothers me.

No way can he replace L. Although I admit that last scene was rather clever.

My first thought on Near was how cute and adorable he was! I don't know if this is good or bad, didn't compare him to L. Near is Near and L is L. What can I do to change that?

My first thought was 'Oh, another anime albino. I was wondering when one was going to show up (sarcastically, of course).' then 'Hey, he's good.' and then, 'I don't like that girl. Oh wait, it's guy. Go Near!' then at the end 'That was awesome! I wonder if there's gonna be a sequel with Near in it!' My dad didn't think so though, he's kind of for Kira. Rivalry in the house, I guess. My mom didn't care who won as long as it was gonna be over soon.

I got really excited because I needed a new favourite character and after L died and before Near came along, I was seriously considering Matsuda. Which would have been depressing.

But Near didn't replace L in my mind because Near never really made me laugh, but L just came out with the most random things sometimes and I absolutely loved him. Why did they have to kill him off? ):

Well,the fact that L died really made me mad,and I questioned on wether to continue watching the series.Once I saw Near...I got mad.He can't replace L.It was like he was trying to act like L,but he couldn't pull it off.
I would have prefered it if Near would have died,and not L...ya know?

I thought the same thing, *sigh* "they tried to replace L with this?" he's actualy very predictable if you think about it, he always talks in the same monotone voice, and even though he has some quirks they are still extremely repetitive, he stacks his towers of dice and refuses to hold his own phone, yawn. Yes he was still able to outsmart Light in the end but he's just no fun compared to L.
