Lyssan the voice from behind chuckles softly, oh but this geas will work, trust me, kerobian, it will work... lyssan tightens her grip on the dragonling and refuses to let go... and how are you going to assure that, jor... he's immune to almost everything... She's right, master. Remember the time you tried to compel me to punish my apprentice and I wouldn't do it, so you tried a geas...I absorbed it and turned it on you...forcing you to punish yourself, if I remember correctly. *Bites Ly's tentacle* Let...Me...GO!!!!!!!!! *mutters* (insert various unprintable curses here, as the ones he is thinking would make even a truck driver or a sailor cringe away and wash out his mouth)

isn't that a little harsh, asks lyssan...
the voice from behind laughs but without much humor... my dear darling sister... you see him as a child... i see him for what he truly is... dwell on that and think, do you for one moment believe anything less would keep him to his word... by the way, you haven't accepted my invitation to tea yet have you? it has been eons since last you darkened my door...
a shudder ripples down through the iridescent snake and after a long poignant pause which gives you the idea that you are finally alone she begins to swear... tea... my left hind foot... he just want to get even.... well you heard him, kero... ther's a ship to be built... and stores to be gathered... ye've got a ton o work ahead of ye, lad.... do you give me your word ye'll cooperate?

He's lucky I don't quit my job! Lyssan, had he not threatened me like that, I would have gladly done so...but now...now I am staying here in the ocean, and nothing short of driving me out, not even cutting my conduit, will make me leave. And despite what he says, I am a child, and have been one for ten million years. I'm only eighteen, Ly...to a dragon, that's a baby!

ah... but to be alive for that long should have given you some form of maturity, kero... trust me, i know... being young does not a free rein give... and i do believe him to be serious... fine, farewell... i don't wish to be around when he does the act...

This is my ultimatum: Let me swim away towards the surface and face whatever punishment they give me, short of fixing the ship alone, and I will stay in service to the Void. You yourself have often said that Rhea and I work so well as a team that we have broken the "behind on the sorting" record down to ten years behind...from the previous record of 457! Cut my conduit, and I QUIT!

Look, I know you heard my exchange with my master...I'm sorry for what I did, but there is a reason I cannot repair that ship alone...Without my magic, I'm as helpless as any baby dragon. I couldn't do it, even if I agreed. And I already told you, I will go over someone's knee before I do agree to that. However, as I told my master, I will cooperate with anything else assigned to me.

i don't believe you were being asked to repair it with magic, kero... plain and simple hard labor will suffice... and if you thought you'd be doing it alone... more the fool ye'd be... lord and lady... do you truly think we'd be that harsh... and a dragon... even a baby one has strength to do more than many could ever do alone...

It's a moot point, however. I already swore I wouldn't do it. My exact oath was that I would go over someone's knee before I'd repair the ship. You know Voidmages are bound by their oaths...and by the spirit of them as well. We can wiggle out of them if we control our feelings as we give them, but I wasn't controllin them. I'm bound to not do it...so we're at an impasse.

Lyssan...That is one weakness Voidmages have that we don't like bandied about. We cannot, quite literally, break our oaths. Note that I said "can" not...not "will" not. I am physically unable to break my oath, no matter how hard I try. I wish, with all my heart, that I could, but I simply can't do it. My power won't let me...unless the entire oath is met in spirit.
*Turns away*
But if you really are disavowing yourselves of my friendship...then I'll go back to the Void. I should have known it would happen. I was fooling myself all along. Who could love a creature like me...a F***ing half-breed? Even my parents hated me...I could see it in their eyes. My only home has ever been the Void...
