"Present!" Anni said, but her nose crinkled at her full name being used. She resisted the urge to correct the teacher, not a very good thing to do on the first day of school. So instead she scooped up Danny and set him under her desk, making a 'shh' motion with her finger, then going to collect her assignment.

While the mage waited in line for her bag of wonder (aka, today's assignment), she tied her wavy red hair in a quick and messy pony tail, so as not to get in the way. She paled slightly at the liquid in the bag. It didn't look at all sanitary. So she washed her hand under the nearest sink before touching one, and also walked up to the teacher.

"Um, do you have any medical gloves?" The mage asked, her hands still dripping wet. She took small comfort in the wet while the knowledge of the unsanitary was still fresh in her mind. Not to mention the back of the room, waiting for her. She shuddered compulsively,

Horatio's grinned sheepishly as she took the proffered, and unreasonably frigid, hand. Of course, she didn't notice it, really. No colder than any of her machines, with their lack of blood or organs.

"Coercion, huh? Well, I don't find myself being coerced to anything, and Momo just got declined. Do you have any particular goals, here?" and she paused to crush another yawn before it escaped her lips.

"I don't want to be rude, but you and your general lack of sleeping needs... I've been awake as much as you for the last three days, and that's not good for me. Probably gonna get a bruise from that fall, just for being so exhausted." Though her words were brash, her tone was almost apologetic. Like Witches, being too close to human meant that Mages also needed notably more sleep than their fellow Otherfolk. It made her feel silly and unwelcome, even if she knew that wasn't true. We're just so human. How is it we've ended up here...

As if to spite her, her stomach grumbled in protest of her loitering. "Also, I need food."

Pan listened carefully for his name, intending to do something stupid when it was called, though he didn't know what just yet. But, of course, Kiala wasn't that stupid. He watched with interest as the teacher ticked his name on the list, silently.

And, thus, he demurely paced to the pans, having been outdone this time. Ah, but whatever was in the bags would surely be fun. He picked up one of the rubber bottomed trays, and then made his way to the sink, picking up one of the bags without a second glance. He carefully ripped a corner off the plastic, and let the liquid slosh into the basin, before dropping it listlessly onto his tray.

In as much as he was able without actually seeming like it, Pan was pouting. So, in fact, he looked more like a regularly disinterested student than anything.

Kiala took notice in the submissive appearance in Evie; her smile seem to curl more. Her smile continued to grow when seeing the disdain in Pan's facial feature when his name was not called, but how would he react when told that their assignment would be to dissect the lab mouse? Looking up to the student, Kiala nodded and pointed to the drawers beneath the windows, "It will be in the first drawer." When that student's question was answered the woman looked up, "If anyone else needs gloves they will be in the first drawer." She repeated herself.

Standing from her chair and moving to the common book shelf pulling out copies of 'The Anatomy of Animals' and began to pass them out. "Today we will learn the main organs and vessels of an animal. And, know where they are." Her eyes looked to each student when the books were placed in front of their seats. "So, pull out a piece of paper and pen to write them down. These books will help you to locate them." Turning her back to the students Kiala went back to her desk.

The smell of the liquid grew more now that the bags were opened. Kiala's favorite part of this class was the bisections. It was always what she looked forward to in class. "The tools you need should be in your pans. Also, when you write down the organ I want you to cut it out of the specimen and put it on the paper." Her body leaned back in her chair. Fingers weaved together in her lap as her dominating eyes watched over her little pack for the class time. Making sure no one else has any problems, but her eyes mainly focused on Pan to see what he may do.

"Mmmmmm!" a long squeal of delight sounded from the blonde's closed mouth as she chewed the first bite of her delicious breakfast. It wasn't that she had never eaten a simple breakfast bagel sandwich, it was just that she hadn't eaten for almost two days. As the person she was, Yuri had spent the past couple of days searching for the perfect outfit to wear on the first day of the new school year. The massive amount of costumes and clothing in her gigantic closet made her mission a tiring one, and, of course, she had a specific outfit in mind. Even now, she looked down at her long, slender legs, admiring the white and frilly thigh-high stockings that matched her teasingly short white dress. Every once in a while, her delicate fingers moved to adjust the red ruffle that tied around her neck, and fix the position of her small white and red hat on her head. Yuri felt that the nurse costume was fitting for the first day, since that was her true job, and she didn't want to confuse the newer students. Oh, how cute they were! The blonde simply adored the cute, new students in all of their innocence, which was one of the reasons why she looked forward to each new term.

The nurse finished the last bit of her sandwich, savoring the remnants of flavor as she carefully licked her fingers. Disposing of her paper plate and eating utensils, she went to wash her hands, sighing as she happily surveyed her bright office. Unlike a normal medical room, the walls were painted a light blue, with fluffy white clouds spread over the painted sky. Decorations were placed accordingly; colors brightly splashed in bunches of green, pink, red, and yellow. Her room was like a burst of sunshine to anyone who ventured in, though the small rooms for her sick patients were painted a lush, dark blue, with specks of white and silver reinacting a calming night sky. One of the perks of having her own room.. Office, in the school, was the part where she was free to decorate it the way she pleased.

Yuri smiled into a small mirror as she walked past it, opening the door into one of the patient rooms and peeking her head in with a smile. A small girl sat on the plush, yet sterile, bed, the 'first-day-of-school' nerves clearly showing on her face. Yuri couldn't help but melt at the vulnerability of the child, "You can stay in here as long as you like, okay?" she said assuringly, feeling sorry for the girl. "I'll send an e-mail to your teachers saying you're excused, but you'll have to get over your fears someday, alright?" Another sweet smile was aimed at the girl who was now nodding thankfully towards the mage.

Shutting the door, Yuri padded over to her desk, rolling quickly in her chair and clicking the mouse. As the screen popped up, she sent the small girl's excuse to the attendance, which would then be sent to the child's teachers. Right as she clicked the send button, a boy she had remembered from a year before walked in, mumbling some ploy of having a cold. Of course, the Blue Mage could see right through the boy, noting that his aura showed nothing but perfect health, and a fake smile came upon her face as she got up, walking to a counter and opening a drawer. "Alright, I'll treat you right now," she said in an all too happy tone, holding up a syringe filled with an unknown liquid. Although she nodded her head in a gesture for the boy to come and get his shot, the boy suddenly had a recovery and apologized for wasting her time. "Well, he left in a hurry," the bubbly nurse giggled, setting the syringe back down. The trick had worked more than once today, but of course she knew that the first day of the new term would be busy for her. With her room empty once more, she walked exuberantly over to a vase of painted daisies, arranging them so that no one color was next to its match. Breathing in the scent, she sighed happily once more, looking forward to this new school year.

{{I had no idea what to do. Hope this is okay?}}

Pan slit open the bag with his scalpel, and stared at the poor, dead piglet inside. He knew, as well as anyone, that the animal had been stillborn, but there was always a gruesome moment, right before he manager to separate himself from the actions, when he realised that the dead thing being dissected could just as easily been him.

The moment past with no great interest, and he began, all remnants of annoyance washed away by that brief moment of disgust. His first cuts were shallow, just grazing the skin of the dissection object, as he referred to it mentally, making sure that his lines were correct and testing the strength of the hide. He followed the imaginary lines, scoring it along perfectly centered seams.

He was quite used to these actions, he'd taken the class at least twice before, though only once with Kiala. He had the credit for it, but he kept asking to be put back in over and over again, because it was, in the end, one of his favorites.

Where else can someone dissect a baby animal and not get thrown into jail?

Gloveless, and fully aware of the sterility of the object, he peeled back the skin into two door like flaps and pinned them to the rubber holding mat.

And stared.

And stared a little longer.

And lifted an eyebrow in confusion, as he continued staring.

That was wrong. First of all, there was a distinct lack of liver, which wasn't the sort of thing that just 'happened'. He lifted the stomach carefully, noting that it was a funny size, and saw loose kidneys, that had been removed one before, and then placed back in the correct hollows.

Carefully, he thought back to his scoring process, had the lines been his usual visualistation, or had they been real? The cuts had been unusually simple...

Against his better wishes, Pan raised his hand, the one without the stomach in it, and stared directly at Kiala, who seemed to have been watching him in that vague way all teachers did.

"I think I've got a bad one... Someone's been in it before." He said it with certainty, not the nervous questioning tone of most students in a Biology class dissection.

[It's alright. You could use google if you want to be scientifically correct. Like I did. XD]

Kiala was starting to get bored of watching the other students so hestitantly cutting in to the piglets like they were still alive and felt guilty. How sad. It wasn't as though the fetuses could think anymore. They were gone. Dead. Without any sorrow for the animals. It was for the name of science. To spread knowledge to the younger generations. When a hand came in to sight a brow was raised and Kiala nodded to her pupil to go ahead and ask away. It was confusion that soon set over Kiala when she heard Pin.

Standing up from her seat. Dressed in an apron in such a case and walked quickly to the piglet that had already seem to be explored. The apron swayed against her knees where the black skirt didn't touch. Luckily, for Kiala, her hair was already pulled back so that her strands didn't take a detour in to the smelling animals. Rounding Pin's table she pulled the tray towards her to get a better look. She noticed that Pin didn't cut through the sternum of the pig's chest. But that wasn't the problem here. Taking the scaple in her right hand, she pushed the stomach out of the way. It was true. The renal vien and artery leading towards the kidney was already disconnected.

"Is anyone else having this problem?" Kiala looked towards the other tables. "Look for the stomach. It might be a large black color just below the ribs. Push it aside using the tools and tell me if it looks like it was cut away." Kiala began to wonder now. Did someone give her a bad batch of these animals? Or perhaps the mother pig gave birth to a little that was all dead and the people were trying to see what might have killed a whole litter like these.

((My apologies, I've had a busy week sweatdrop ))

"Ah yes." The elf nodded sympathetically. "Then perhaps a drink would be more suitable." She paused at the sound of Horatio's stomach, snickering as she lightly poked the mage's shoulder. "Sounds like whatever it is you call a stomach might come out and make dinner of Mr. Laveque and myself if we don't feed it soon enough." She teased Horatio with a blithe tone, chuckling as she motioned toward the door. "Shall we?"

Selene perked at the desk, almost glaring at the vampire before jumping off and skipping to Momo's feet, meowing with a higher-than-usual pitch. She rubbed against the elf's leg with a soft purr before looking up at the vampire once more, puffing as she stalked past him toward the hall. Momo smiled apologetically. "Please excuse her bad manners."

((I didn't want to make anything too lengthy that might interfere with anything you might have planned. I'm sorry sweatdrop ))

"No goals whatsoever, Miss Tamaranth," came the same, calm response, along with a mental question about if the addition of honorifics would annoy either of the two. As he spoke his hand pulled up, Horatio coming with it to set down standing once again. The process seemed to cause him as much strain as blinking. "Simply a curiosity." He let his hand fall before it absorbed too much of the other woman's warmth; it would continue doing so without heating itself.

When addressed by Momo, however, he paused, visually thoughtful. There was nothing in particular that he had to accomplish as of yet, and having already intruded on the pair he felt there was a certain obligation to be filled. I suppose this is what I deserve for leaving my solitude. All tranquility on the outside, the Vampire answered, "I should say a drink would do no harm. So long as Miss Tamaranth does not object, I would be pleased to accompany the both of you." He left it at that, his mind working further than the words he had spoken.

Many a time Darian found himself pondering social interactions. After all, being reclusive and anti-social had its drawbacks no matter how much he could enjoy it. Being what he was did not help, either. Without saying a word he could frighten a child - or an adult, for that matter - simply by being. Shadows followed him, ice traced his footsteps; on the whole, being Vampire was not incredibly conducive to meeting people and forming acquaintanceships. Still, he kept his acceptance out there, the entire situation depending on whether or not the two - or perhaps only Horatio - desired privacy. Privacy, and the lack of a being that could very easily lower the temperature of a room by breathing. Such a lovely creation, he thought wryly.

((Ha! I remember this assignment from my biology class last year...))

Annika nearly dived for the gloves in the spot indicated to her. She slipped a pair over her her hands, and sighed with relief. Much, much better. Only then did she take the bag, with the little pig inside. She felt sorry for the poor thing.

Scalpel in hand, she slit the bag over the sink and let the preserving liquids drain out. Walking back and grabbing the tray, then sliding back into her seat with a weird look on her face. Danny mewed with irritation, his ears flattening at the smell of the preserved pig.

"I know, I don't like the smell either. I'll try to be done as quickly as I can, okay?" She spoke softly to her kitty.

Looking at the diagram of the piglet, she carefully cut down its stomach and around the umbilical cord. With the pointer, she poked around the inside of the dead creature. There was no missing organs, as far as she could see.

She shook her head at the teacher's question. There were some under-developed organs, defiantly, but nothing was missing.

"No one's coming." Duncan stated, sitting with his arms crossed lazily over his knees. Adri has stopped practicing a while ago, as was keeping himself busy by ordering the classroom/dojo. "You can stop that, a few of the first period classes were canceled."

"Don't you have classes?" Adri snapped, disliking the far late information. The other boy shook his head.

My first period class was canceled. The message was sent directly into his mind. Duncan loved flaunting this off.

"Great, so now I'm stuck with you?" He said, shoving him playfully. "I'm going to find the other teachers, coming with?"

Duncan fell over from the push.

"That was unnecessary!" He complained, then picked himself up. "Sure, I guess, I've got nothing better to do."

{{I'm so very uninspired today... Distracted really. What with it snowing here, four months to early, and all...}}

Pan rolled his eyes while Kiala was turned, and then stared at his dead piglet as though it could answer him. A cursory glance around the room had shown him either confused faces of people who couldn't tell if their pig was damaged, or people shaking their heads no, with the confidence of someone who knew what innards were supposed to look like.

"Now," he muttered almost silently, "Why would you have to go and be wrong just because you're my piggie, mm? Don't you know I have extra work in here already?" He poked it as if joking with the little non-creature, and then set about snipping the connection of the correct organs, and dropping them onto the labeled paper.

The empty space where a liver should have gone, on the paper and in the pig, bothered him, though.

"Well of course I have no complaints. You're not out to kill me, and thus, you're better than about ninety percent of this planet, which makes you welcome at any time. Even if you're absolutely freezing, to the point of absurdity." Horatio nodded pointedly, before stepping to the side of his figure, cautiously this time.

"My only complaint is that this entire conversation is taking forever. You two and your formal speaking. You're so slow, always thinking every single word through like it's a grave decision." she took another step, and glanced back at Momo. "Oh yes, even you. You've got the old world nobility in your voice, whether you try to hide it or not."

Miya watched the other witch girl curiously from her seat, where she had returned with her things. She cut open the bag, its contents draining into the basin. She yelped and drew back quickly, whimpering a little at the sight of the underdeveloped piglet. "E-Evie..." She said softly, looking for support from her friend.

Pan had already began his dissection at this time, and was asking Kiala about a problem he was having. As he spoke, the young witch looked curiously at his animal, then to hers, staring between the two dead creatures apprehensively. She didn't think she was going to like this class very much if there were to be a lot of dissections... She had no idea if there was something wrong with her pig or not, but she wasn't really prepared to find out. She was beginning to feel queasy as odd smells assaulted her nostrils. Miya was hoping to learn about the animals themselves, not their insides! She looked around at the other students, happy to see she wasn't the only one feeling a little uncomfortable. Maybe it would be something she would get used to...

Momo blinked stunned then smiled. "Well, my apologies dear. My intention was..." She trailed off then giggled to herself. "I was about to do it again. I'm sorry dear."

She followed after the mage after tapping the vampire on his shoulder. "Come now Mr. Laveque."

She skipped a few steps to catch up to Horatio. "So, do you have in mind what you would like to have? I feel like blueberry pancakes this morning."

Ran leant against one of the small pillars that decorated this particular school entrance. A few moments had gone by after the witch had scurried inside with her cat without so much as a glance. It wasn't a big deal that she had missed him, for he was a bit out of sight behind the pillar, but he still kept his eyes on her as she walked away; watching her through the window on the door until she escaped around a corner and out of sight. The dark, unseelie demon's red orbs sparked with the desire for mischeif and maybe even a 'snack', his lips curling deliciously to one side as his disguised teeth gleamed brightly from the small opening between his slightly parted mouth.

In a search for entertainment, Ranofer walked inside the building once more, the fabric of his black attire damp and smelling of rain. He could only imagine when it came time to have lunch; itching for the full view of his possible selections. The edge of his mouth remained pulled to the side as his gaze lowered, as well as the raven black hair that swept low over his eyes.

Coming to an oddly familiar hallway, the unseelie fae picked his head up and looked into a nearby room. Memories shrouded his thoughts as he frowned into the brightly decorated room, scowling at the clouds painted delicately on the light blue walls. Through his disgust, he walked into the nurse's office, turning his head as he easily spotted the bubbly blonde. "Ah, Miss Yuri.." he greeted her with a smile. Though the smile was entirely an act, there was still the fact that she was one of those 'teachers' that the students drooled over. And even though he didn't feel that way, since she was much too happy and pure for him, there was always that spark inside Ranofer that made him act overly flirtacious around such a shameless teacher. Not to mention the perks of 'getting-with' an adult were a bit enticing; and one so rightfully endowed wasn't too bad either.

Through her greetings, he ended up leaning against the door to one of the rooms branched off from her office. His smile that could be seen as one towards the blue-eyed mage, was actually brought on by something else. Oh, how Ranofer loved those emotions. Anxiety, fear, sadness; they were just so.. Appetizing! He could feel the little girl's demeanor through the door, soaking up as much as he could, loving the energy it gave him. It wasn't long until Miss Yuri realized that his expression was not due to her flirtacious talk, scolding him in a too-girly voice and shooing him out the door. But Ran didn't mind, he'd had his fill.. For now at least, and he knew the nurse wouldn't be mad at him for long. There would be more chances for him to strike, but for now, he'd just have to continue down the corridors, occasionally watching those who strayed from their classes.

Evie immediately backed away after the contents of her bag were set free. As soon as the sight reached her and the smell though, the cat girl's eyebrows rose and she stepped back to the basin and looked down at the dead piglet. A sensation rose in her that hadn't in a while. Hunger.

Not simple hunger though, the need to rip this piglet to shreds that she had done to animals while hunting in the pack. She was not hunting though, she was in a classroom filled with students. Surely there would be consequences or at least people would shun away from her if she did start to act on her instincts. Even Miya, who had become her quick best friend it seemed, would probably shy away from her. Speaking of Miya, Evie looked at her friend when her name came from the witch.

She looked sympatheticly at her friend. Of course, Miya was a witch, she minded the dead piglet before her unlike Evie. "It's alright, Miya," Evie replied soothingly. "Just try not to think about it. Imagine your.. Cutting into a big juicy steak, or something, " she told the witch lamely. It was the best she could come up with.
