Corby stares at Kero's fingering for a bit then plays Dm(maj7). It is quite close, but not quite right.

*Kero moves in, and corrects his fingering very, very gently...*
See, if you move it too far, you're overcompensating...and it changes the tone from major to minor...

Corby nods thoughtfully. "That's a really complicated chord though. I've never seen pipe music played like that. Stringed instruments, yes... but not the wind. How did you come up the idea to incorporate it?"

*Kero teleports upstairs, and comes down again with his harp*

Corby smiles at him. "Now that instrument I know... I think. Is it still the same one?"

*Kero nods*
Yes, it is...same as when it was made...save for one repair job, performed a while back...now, let's hear that chord...

Corby strums it perfectly and smiles. "Beautiful... you say it was mended... ah.... I see. Tam repaired it, didn't he? He did a good job." He hands the harp back and sighs. "Chrystal's instrument was the harp, I played whatever she needed to back her up. Perhaps that is why I never needed to prove myself. There was no need for it."

*Kero moves over next to him, taking his hands into his own paws*
It'll be okay...you'll see...and you have the talent, Corby...I'm just here to help you utilize it to the fullest.

"I just want to pipe in the morning for the temple and do it properly. I have heard it played so badly that it makes my skin crawl. Teach me how to do that and I will be forever happy." says Corby with a sigh. He looks up with a fierce look in his eyes. "It may be all I can do, but I will do it right."

*Kero smiles*
You can do a lot more than that, Corby...I would hate to see such a great talent go to waste....Now come on...I'll teach you the song of morning if you so desire, but we'll save that for last...a treat, if you do well...

Corby runs through the warmups once more, still a touch slower than Kerobian, but far more accurate than he had before. He looks up and waits for Kero's critique.

*Kero nods*
Speed will come with practice...strive for accuracy right now....now, let's hear that once more, and we'll start work on your first piece.

Corby plays the run through, fumbles it slightly and swears under his breath, then continues on. Kero can see that the neko is sorely out of practice and already growing tired. Making him wonder if he has even been playing at all for the last five years.

*Kero does, and soon calls a halt*
Go...eat something here...rest your fingers....you're sorely in need of tuning on your fingers...the skill is there, as is the talent, but the body cannot keep up...rest a little, Corby...you need it...

Corby lowers the pipe with a sigh. "I can do this... I will do this... I'm not a useless pet... I'm me...." he snarls to himself and stomps off to the kitchen, leaving Kero stunned.
