Arron obeyed, hoping that the king was not an easily angered man. He was confused on the situation itself, because of how quickly the events had happened. He pushed opened the doors, glancing back at Atticus, hoping the lion would follow.

Atticus followed along as they entered the room, which appeared to be a throne room of sorts.Inside, skylights lit the room from above, making the floor shine and almost glow beneath them. There were two thrones at the end of the room, and a tall man dressed in white and gold regalia stood in front of them with a calm, confident expression and stance. He regarded Arron and Atticus with his bright blue eyes, and his expression did not change. "You have news of Talbot Nesdin, I've been told. The floor is yours, speak." he stated. His voice was low and regal.

The young man stood awkwardly for a few moments before composing himself. He started explaining, leaving no detail unheard. He explained what had happened to Talbot. Arron simply told the truth of what he knew.

The king listened in silence, regarding Arron the entire time with the same perfect composure. Once the mechanic had finished his tale, the king walked over to his throne and sat down. "You seem to not know why this... 'mistress' took Talbot in as her slave. That is quite troubling." he said simply. His steely blue eyes focused on Arron with an unflinching stare. "What I'm about to tell you must not leave this room unless it's relayed to Talbot, or I will personally cut you down." he stated. The man was obviously dead serious about that.

He nodded. "I-I won't t-tell a-a soul." he said. Arron did not have anyone else to truly tell whatever it was he was about to be told.

"If it is not already obvious, my kingdom has been at war with the black kingdom for many generations. Many have died, and many continue dying to this very day. Talbot Nesdin was a knight under my rule, but he came to be so under curious circumstances" the king crossed his arms over his chest and leaned back slightly. "He was born from a mother of my kingdom, and a father of the black kingdom. They'd fallen in love and given birth to him in secret under the nose of my father, the previous king." He leaned forward a little, imposing in his ever present stare. "And yet when I came to rule, Talbot came to me personally and asked my blessing for him to become a knight, despite his roots. I assumed he meant to fight for my side of the war, but he explained that his goals were not to fight, but to end the war."

"Hey... it's the Checkmate Wars Boyo... We saw that in the papers remember?" Arron heard his counterpart say in his head. Arron merely nodded, piecing together what Talbot had said in his sleep along with the story the king was telling.

"Despite the hardships he would have faced due to his appearance and the prejudices my kingdom has against the black kingdom, he worked through the ranks and became a knight. That was when something even more curious happened." the king continued, taking Arron's silence as an understanding of what he was saying. "Discussion came about that our two kingdoms would have a truce. Such a thing was almost unheard of, but we both truly wanted peace. Talbot volunteered to take the signed papers to the black kingdom himself for them to also sign, and as he was descended from both kingdoms, it seemed only fitting. But he never arrived. Naturally, we blamed them for killing our knight, and they were insulted. The war continued."

(I'm in the other chat okay?) "...Ah... H-He remembered a-a t-tower..." he said thinking. Arron then started to pull his small notebook from his pocket.

"Likely the tower of this castle. However, his reappearance is an issue to me. In this case, my court will be the ones in the wrong unless the mistress in question is on the side of the black kingdom. To have Talbot return would be detrimental. However, if that woman's goal was to eliminate the truce, I'd like to know why." the king explained. He stood again, cloak straightening elegantly to the floor. "I've heard all I need to unless you can answer that inquiry. For now, I can only wish you the best of luck, while urging against allowing Talbot to return here."

Staring at the king in disbelief, he quietly said, "...b-but... this is h-his home. Is-Is there an-anything y-you c-can do to help Y-Your M-Majesty..?" He had hoped that the king could help in any form or fashion besides just providing information. Arron had also had bad ties with the well-off on his planet, but he went into the hall with an open mind. He was afraid he was about to be shown that once again, nobility was apathetic.

"If this woman is as powerful as you've claimed she is, I see no way that any of my soldiers could help you, nor could I myself. If Talbot is somehow freed from her, I will discuss with my court what should be done. For now, all I can offer you is the armour and sword he left behind, and the location of his parents. They might like to know what's become of their son." the king said. It was clear that it would be difficult to convince the man otherwise.

Arron nodded, understanding, but still feeling let down. He was not going to go against the king's ruling. "Th-Thank you f-for seeing me, Y-Your Majesty..." he said.

The king handed Arron a piece of paper with directions on it. "This is where you'll find his parents. They have his armour and sword there. Be on your way." he said with a nod of his head. Atticus huffed, then turned tail and walked back over to the door.
