"No, this doorway has been sealed for some time. You are the second person to break the seal in..."
The earth kami would kind of hover there in silence, trailing off.

Another nod. It was perhaps what she had feared the most, ever since the Kansen mentioned it had been corrupted because of their reckless negligence... no... because of her negligence. She had opened a portal that should have remained shut, and aroused an evil that likely would have continued sleeping for centuries still. Still... the kami's answer made her a little curious... "An entire castle~ entire town abandoned, and a deep corruption at its core... what happened here all those centuries ago?"

The earth kami would rumble for a bit, before coming up with an answer. "All the humans went into that basement, and in the course of a night, they and many of us were silenced. Very few humans came back out, and that place was left forever cursed by the horrors that went on down there. Unfortunately, no kami can tell you what happened, for to know is to become lost. That is why we avoid it now. It is gone to us."
And, without so much as waiting for a goodbye, it would begin to fade.

"Ah~ wait! I'm sorry... I'm not strong enough to fight it alone. Please, take your friends and flee this castle. Leave the wood dead and dry so that when I call upon the fire kami we can end this darkness as quickly as possible. I do not wish to see any more suffering here."

"... if you wish for the earth to move from this castle of stone, you will need to move every stone away from this site. The stone is the foundation of this castle, as the earth is the foundation of everything. Neither will yield. Not to anything."
And with that, it would fade. For realz, this time.

"....what did you learn, Kitsuki-san? Please tell us. If we have to burn down a swath of Rokugan for some reason, I would want to know why, so that we may explain ourselves to our superiors."
Kojiro could only hope that Miya-chan was having a better time of it than they were, wherever she was.

Masuyo glanced back at the others as if she only just realized they were there. She made to answer the question, but really ended up just thinking aloud more than anything, "Centuries ago the people of this castle went down there. Very few came back out. This door has been sealed ever since... Shosuro-san is not here. What we... what I have awakened down there cannot be allowed to spread. It must be destroyed here and now, and if I have take down a castle to do it, your superiors will understand."

"If you do not know this, Kitsuki-san, then I shall tell you. We act under the authority of the Jade Magistrates. Surely, they can handle this much better than we can. If this room was sealed for centuries, perhaps it can remain sealed the few months it would take them to investigate the matter. Our duty is to find the murderers of Asako Shusui and then to find Shosuro-san. Anything else is ...secondary."

"If it was truly able and desiring to spread, I do not think a simple door might have contained it so long. And with none likely to follow after us, it seems more likely destroying the castle might uncage it, than destroy it," the Hare said uncertainly.
"As things stand... I must agree with Bayushi-san. It is beyond my capacity, to purify a place like that. Unless you know of a way, we should see to finding Shosuro-san, and our murderers, and simply be sure no detail is left out of our report."
It would be his desire, with that, to begin out of the castle, which otherwise appeared so utterly empty and abandoned, but Kojiro was the one with the lantern after all.

Kojiro jostled the lantern as he started heading out. "This is going to empty soon. Let's hope that we can at least get out of the castle before then."

The little Dragon frowned reluctantly, but looked much less certain than before. If there was anyone here more qualified to make such an assessment than her, it was definitely an Ujina... and he did have a point. Not a very good one considering it was human interference that usually awoke these evils and caused them to spread, but good enough to note that there was no guarantee dropping a castle on it would kill it. It became the question of which was more likely, and as a Samurai her inclination was obviously to do something rather than ignore the problem like some frightened peasant... unfortunately that didn't seem to be the mindset of the others, and it became the case of majority rule as her only light source began walking away before she could even think to start casting.
After another reluctant gaze at the door, she followed the Bushi, the ill feeling turning to a deeper hope that she wasn't going to regret this decision later.

Kagae opts not to contribute to the plotting of siege warfare against the abandoned castle.
Kojiro would lead the way out with Denbe closely behind. Luckily, they had the lantern lit.
As they neared the gate into the castle, the pale-skinned, bald-headed, dark-robed man several hundred feet away that seemed to be examining your tracks noticed you before you noticed him. "They're here!" he yelled before bolting around a corner, heading westward versus your southerly facing.

Kami dammit! Kojiro thought, nearly muttering it aloud. He carefully set the lantern down and chased after the man, drawing his kusari-gama as he did so. He may be following into a trap, but if he was lucky, he could capture that man and they could interrogate him.

The location Kojiro had mentioned seemed the only trail they had left in this ghost town, dead trails and dead ends, in a dead fortress, without any hints of anyone living being who might be responsible for the misfortunes of Miyako or the magistrate.
And then, of course, would be when he'd stumble upon the first direct lead in their search since they'd arrived.
Unlike Kojiro, Denbe wouldn't even stop long enough to draw his sword, but as the man vanished the Hare would leap forward and burst into a sprint, trying to plot a course to cut the man off if possible, hopefully to reach him before his allies were close enough to lend him any immediate aid, if it came to violence.
Given that they had no reason to suspect anything but murder, or at best typical banditry, of this man, it likely would.
[1 Raise made to intercept the man before he reaches his destination/allies.] [+5 to TN from Light Armor] [7k4+3 Agility/Athletics(Running): 38 vs TN+10]
