*The Void is full of illusions, half-existing, half not....strange music wends it way through, and all around, clouds of aethr roil, black as smoke. A gleaming path lies in front of him, slowly moving towards the distance....on the very brim of the horizon, he can see a building...looking much like a sphere, it is a reflection of Kero's cocoons...but it is so far off, and when he turns back, the window has disappeared*

At any other time, Passura might have been frightened at it's disappearance, but not just then. He was still recovering and emotionally numb. He examined the path and look around him more closely, then decides to walk towards the sphere, one of the few things he saw that had any semblance of familiarity, even if it was outrageously large in comparison to the ovoid kero slept in.

*Soon, he stumbles across a misty shape. It vaguely resembles a humanoid...but it is deathly cold when it flows over him....Likewise, a strange, eagle like lizard, much larger than he is, flaps across his path...seemingly uninterested in him...until he hears it chasing him....suddenly, it gives up the chase, and Passura smacks into a familiar wall of flesh....and finds himself gently grabbed...and teleported to Kero's office...when he looks at Kero's face, there is a weird change...Kero looks a touch angry*
Passura...did I not tell you not to follow me? Have I not told you that it would be a rule that you don't walk with me when I leave?

The boy's chin comes up defiantly and he holds his ground. "I didn't walk with you. I did my homework or whatever it is you call it and the doorway was still there, so I came to find you. It usually closes behind you. I thought something might be wrong. You didn't look happy..."
He pauses for a breath, eying his mentor closely. "Are you ok, mes'sirrah."

*Kero nods*
I am perfectly fine, Passura. And while you did not walk with me, you have entered this realm, which I forbade. This is a dangerous place, Passura. If my secretary hadn't found you, you'd probably be eaten by this point.
Passura, don't try to mince words with me. I'm glad that you did your homework, and touched very deeply that you wanted to help me. But you put your soul in danger, coming here. I left the door open because I knew I would be tired when I came back, and simply wanted an easy way out. I didn't want you going through it, which was why I said not to follow me. Now, does that make sense?

The boy glares at him then turns away. "Then give me a door to go back and I won't bother you anymore. You don't need me here and don't want me here, either. I was not mincing words, mes'sirrah. I chopped nothing off ... said only what I meant. If you do not wish to hear it, then don't ask."

*Kero shakes his head*
Passura...you misunderstand me...and I'm sorry...I shouldn't have accused you of mincing words. You're right in that I don't want you here...but not for the reasons you think. Do you know the job I do, Passura?

Oddly enough, Passura does know what Kero does, at least in part. "You sort." he says in a sharp tone. "you take the dead and tell them where they must go."

*Kero nods*
And do you know the four places I must send them?

He shrugs. "I know of two... not four... the good go one place the bad go another." Remember his people are fairly black and white in their views of things.

*Kero nods*
For now, let's look at it this way, Passura. I was sad because I had to send people to the bad place....and believe me, I hate doing it. But today...I had to do it to children....to condemn children...little children....to an eternity of pain, horror, and despair...does that explain why I am sad?

Pasa looks at him grimly "Children are not evil... only tose who have raised them so... how young were they?" he demands angrily.

*Kero sighs*
The youngest were five....the oldest your age...and I have no choice, Passura...some of them were so black I could not see their faces...I hate doing it, Passura...if I had my way, every child would get a free ticket to Paradise....but the standards now are absolute...there is no room for things to slip through...not even a child who imitates his parents, or one who lashes out at abusive family.

Pasa turns away from Kerobian. "No five year old is old enough to make that choice, sirrah, and you know it. Who told you that they were beyond salvation? Who forced you to send them to eternal damnation? There you will find true evil... no one good would do so and you know it." Something in his words strikes a chord in Kero's heart. The boy lowers his gae to the floor. What sins were so black to have condemned them so... murder... hatred... lust... did no one check to see why they were so... did no one look to see if they could be saved?"

*Kero's eyes flash red...then he calms down*
Of course I did....you think I haven't tried every venue I can! I have tried, again and again, to explain this to the angels, and they will not listen. Only pristine souls allowed in heaven. And as for Elysium, the realm of peace, I can't set foot there to talk without being grilled over a slow fire, quite literally. I have tried everything I can, Passura...even to keep them in my own realm. That's why I'm sad...because I'm powerless to do what I must. So many of these children reflect the sins of their parents...anger and hatred, even lust, in some cases...and yes, murder is there too. Yet always explainable...always excusable...yet the angels will not listen to me.
