( HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!! A lot of Shock-Tastic I should say! I mean, look at the drama and suspence that is happening! HEHEHEHEHEHE!!)
It was dark now. The survivors were still about an hour away from the caves. They were tied. Weak. Hungry. Thirsty. "We need to stop." Locke said, crumpling to the ground under Sayid and Charlie's weight. "We have to stay here for the night." Sayid groaned as he sat down and looked over at Jack. "Locke is right. We should stop. If we keep going like this, Locke will have a heart attack and die, then you'll have to carry Charlie, Myself, and Ethan back to the caves all on your own." Locke took a deep breath. "Come on Jack, sit down and rest a while." Charlie groaned from where he laid. His eyes fluttered open and then closed again. He was having a bad dream.

Jack stopped and collapsed to the ground with the rest of the group. He laid Ethan down and looked around worriedly.
"We can stop and rest for a while, but we have to get back tonight. If we don't then no matter what happens we won't have to worry about carrying Ethan anywhere. He's going to die if I don't get him back," Jack said slowly, deliberately.
He leaned against a tree for a moment before leaning over Ethan again. His condition was critical at best. His pulse was steady but still extremely weak. He was as pale as a ghost. Jack tried to wake him up again.
"Come on, Ethan, stay with me," Jack said firmly.
Hope was fading like the daylight...

Ethan's eyes opened and he moaned as pain soared throughout his body. "What . . . .oh . . .good . . ." He replied seeing Jack. "I thought I had dreamed you guys up . . ." He trailed off his eyes closing again. Locke looked over at Jack. "Is that Ethan?" He asked. "Cause he sure as hell looks like him . . ." Sayid nodded. "But he doesn't act like him." Locke sighed, lookign Charlie over. "So, we got a bite victim, a shot victim, and a man whose suposed to be dead. . .great." He replied. He then laughed. "Not to mention Boone!" Sayid chuckled. "Damn Jack, you've got your hands full."

Jack smiled wryly.
"Charlie will live, so will Boone and so will you, Sayid. As for Ethan, I think aliens got him. Either that or he's got a twin brother," Jack said shrewdly.
They all shuddered at the thought. At least they had put aside their differences for the time being. A little bit of humor made the situation seem less serious and allowed for hope to creep back in through the cracks. Jack turned to a semi conscious Ethan.
"Ethan, listen to me. You're seriously injured but I'm going to get you better. You just need to hang on. Stay with me, Ethan. If you can, tell me what happened," Jack instructed.
He surveyed the once manic man and realized that even the darkest villain had a human side. A weak side.
((enter random alien. Re: first post. You said if some random alien showed up we would have a party. I'm thinking a party would make this so hilarious. If not, well, Jack's just going to be pulling miracles out of hats like bunnies for the next several posts LOL))

(LOL)
Ethan maoned. "I . . .I can't remember . . .I was on a plane . . .then . . .I was all alone . . .I had been for some time . . .I don't know what happened." Sayid frowned. "Do you remember a girl by the name of Claire?" He asked. Ethan frowned weakly. "No . . .yes . . .I . .I don't know . . .it's like dreams . . .I . . .Claire? . . ." he trailed off. Locke looked over at Jack. "I don't think it's a good idea to have him remember anything. He could start back at what he was doing before Charlie shot him."

Jack couldn't believe he was agreeing with Locke. However, he found himself nodding in agreement.
"I think you're right. We don't want to trigger any of those memories," Jack replied.
He observed Ethan as the man slipped in and out of consciousness. The blood loss was beginning to really affect him. Jack was sure the bleeding was internal, since the cuts and scrapes on Ethan's body were nowhere near serious enough to cause the degree of exsanguination the man was at.
"We've got to get him back to camp. You guys can stay here for the night, but I need to head back with Ethan," Jack said firmly.
He stood up and gathered Ethan's lifeless body into a fireman's carry, moving to walk away.

Shannon had finally came to the pont of biting her nails. It was dark and they had been gone for hours. A while ago she thought she had heard a far off gunshot. She started wishing she had gone with them.

Locke groaned as he too got up and picked Charlie back up. He reached for Sayid, but he shook his head. "You've got enough to carry." Sayid replied, and weakly followed after Jack, leaning against trees as he walked. Locke grunted as he followed them, hoping that they'd soon come to the caves.
An hours or so later Locke and the other stumbled into the camp. Locke laid Charlie down and sat Sayid down, getting them some water. Charlie was still unconsious, as was Ethan at the moment, something that was good for all of them. "Jack, take care of Ethan . . .don't let Claire see him." He replied. He then patted Sayid on the arm and walked off to find Boone.

Jack nodded and watched Locke go. He wished he hadn't been so hard on him earlier, but what's done is done. Jack turned his attention to an unconscious Ethan and a barely conscious Charlie.
"Charlie, wake up. I need you to wake up," Jack said firmly.
He waited a moment for Charlie to come around. The younger man opened his eyes and looked up at Jack.
"Good, Charlie, that's good. I need you to go find Claire and make sure she doesn't come into the caves. She can't see Ethan just yet. Make sure that she doesn't come near here, okay?" Jack asked.
He hoped Charlie was conscious enough to understand.

Charlie frowned, sitting up and rubbing his head. "What? Ethan?" Sayid grabbed his shoulder and gently squeezed it. "Charlie, Ethan is here . . . we don't want Claire seeing him . . .some unhappy memories might come up." Charlie frowned, then it hit him. "Ethan? He's here?" His heart picked up speed, but then He looked at Sayid and at the gunshot wound he had given him. He sighed. "I'll go get Claire . . .I'll keep her away . . .but I'm not promising anything about me." He snapped. He got up and stomped off rather grogily. Sayid looked over at Jack. "Have Sawyer watch him." He replied.
Locke came up to Boone. He cleared his throat loudly and sighed. "Boone . . ." he replied.

Jack watched Charlie stalk off and turned back to Ethan. While he examined the man again, he spoke to Sayid.
"How are you doing?" Jack asked worriedly.
He waited for an answer as he assessed the extent of Ethan's injuries. His pulse was steady, for now, but his breathing was still shallow. Jack was concerned. He examined Ethan's torso and found extensive bruising and rigidity. He was bleeding into his abdominal cavity, but the bleed couldn't be arterial. If it was, Ethan would have been long dead. Jack surmised that the bleeding would eventually stop on it's own or probably already had. All he had to do was drain the excess blood. Jack looked around for something he could use to pierce Ethan's skin to drain the blood.

Shannon had been awoken by voices. She jumped up and headed to where she heard them "Jack.." She said, smiling as she rounded the corner. Thank God they had made it back. Then she glanced down. Her smile dissappeared. Ethan. Her eyes filled with terror. She looked over at Sayid. Shot. "What happened out there?" She asked, her mouth gaped open.

Shannon came around the corner before Sayid had the chance to reply. Jack looked up at her and smile wryly.
"It's a long story. We got a transmission from another survivor and it turned out to be Ethan. He's in pretty bad shape. I need to find something to pierce his skin so I can drain the blood from his abdominal cavity before the pressure collapses his circulatory system. As for Sayid, well, we had a little mishap with one of the guns," Jack explained.
He looked up at Shannon who seemed to be taking it all in.
"Don't worry, they'll be fine. Sayid will be sore for a while but the bullet didn't hit anything vital. Ethan will be fine if he makes it through the night. How about you? Are you okay?" Jack asked.
He watched Shannon closely as he waited for an answer. Just then, Jack remembered the knitting needles that were sitting in the cabinet they had salvaged from the plane. Jack ran over to the cart and grabbed one of the needles. He quickly disinfected it with some alcohol and drove it into Ethan's side. The man groaned from the pain. Jack pulled out the needle and allowed the blood to slowly ooze from the wound. All the while Shannon watched in horror and Jack waited for her reply.
