*Kero chuckles, and leads the way out to the table...where he sits Passura in front of a platter of crystals...and himself in front of a hearty sandwich...then claps his hands, and the plates swap places*
There we go....munch away....then I have to go do something, okay?

The boy flashes him a weak smile and nibbles on the sandwich, leaving most of it untouched at the end of the meal. He sighs and pushes himself away from the table and asks to be dismissed.

*Kero looks at him, guessing he wants to be alone, and nods. When he stands up, he walks away from the table, and into the Void, leaving a window open so he can easily get home*

When he returns, sometime later, he finds the cave empty but doesn't panic. Following the psychic signature of the boy he goes outside to find him perched on a log at the edge of the clearing, watching as Tam carefully retrieves his daughters from the back of an enormous lung dragon, Lyssan... obviously. He passes one bundle to Bez and claims the other, and even as he oulls her to his chest, the dragon morphs and shrinks into the form of a beautiful red haired humanoid, that sports a pair of perky fur covered ears.
Throughout all of this Passura doesn't move. Instead he sits there, silent and still, watching the three carry the babies indoors. Then remains sitting, his head slightly cocked, as though he's listening to something.

*Kero, making sure to make noise and not scare the boy, vaults up next to him*
Something wrong, Pass?

The boy shakes his head no. "Nothing's wrong." he answers quietly. "Mes'sirrah... why do you like me?" he asks suddenly.

*Kero is taken aback...then smiles*
Passura....I like you because of who you are....you're a very kind-hearted creature, and I like that. I like you because you have been open with me about things, and not tried to hide from me. You're honest, brave, and honorable. All things to like. Above all, Passura...I like you, and love you, because you are my son.

The boy sighs and looks away. "Thank you." he says after a bit. "For being so kind."

*Kero pulls the child closer to him*
Let's hold off on saying that, okay...I haven't had to punish you yet, and you may not think me so kind afterwards.
But I should also thank you....for being such a good son....

Passura leans against him with a small sad smile and listens to the steady beat of Kerobian's heart. (Isn't it great that he has one now?"
Need to crash soon... says northern spirit as yawn cracks her face...**

**As do I**
*And for a few more days, all was well...Kero took some time off from soul-sorting, and moved into teaching Passura basic reading, now that he knew his letters...one morning, Passura comes out, and Kero is sitting there, but he is hurriedly eating*
I can't play today, Passura...I have something important I have to take care of...don't follow...I'll see you when I get home...
*Mutters as he walks into the Void, leaving his window behind*
Why, piper...why....?

For awhile, Passura listens, sitting at the kitchen table, working on his vocabulary and spelling lessons. An odd thing had happened during his breakdown, he had picked up much of the mechanics of the written language from Kero's mind. Not enough to communicate fully by the pen, but enough for him to understand better how the mechanics worked and was now working at the level of a few years beyond his age. His problem now was, not understanding what he read... for he had learned not one language but a good full seven... two of which were so obscure that no one but Kerobian understood them... and he kept mixing them up, completely confusing those around him when he spoke or wrote anything down.
But now he was bored enough to realize that the portal Kero had used to enter the void was still open. Remembering how sad Kero had seemed as he left, he quietly closed his book, just in case the kitsune who was supposedly napping in the next room was paying attention to his actions. Nothing happened, so he stood up and waited again. Again, no reaction. Nothing was between him and the waivering portal and without even thinking about it or why he really shouldn't be doing this, remembering only how sad Kerobian had been, he crossed through.
