paladine sighs... (he seems to be doing that a lot these days...) luceil lost his temper and called kerobian a name... which name i cannot say as i do not speak that tongue... it was in response to an injury he received quite by accident from kerobian's hands.... but the name must have been quite derogatory as my adopted son did lose his temper in an outrageous manner almost instantly... luceil has admitted his error and awaits kerobian's acceptance...

lyssan examines the odd device and stone before the door... sh avoid touching anything, but uses all her senses to figure them out... as she works the glow encompassing her continues to fade....
PostPosted: Tue Jun 02, 2009 5:36 pm

*Suddenly, the door opens, and Kero appears, smacking into her*

Oy...Rhea...I told you...Oh, it's you, Ly. Trying to figure out the door riddle, eh? It's actually really simple. I'll put it up in the main lounge as an RP riddle...along the lines of D&D...see who can figure it out.

*Hopian looks at Paladine*

What did he call him? Schlamo wouldn't make my brother lose his temper like that. Ye've got to really use a bad name to piss off Kero.

paladine shrugged... if i knew the language i'd tell you... he spoke so quickly... and kerobian's response was so sudden... it quick blew the term from my mind...

lyssan nods but her thoughts are on other things.... is there somewhere we can go to talk... that's shielded... me shield is disintegrating far faster than i might hope it would....

*Hopian's eyebrows shoot up into his forhead*

He didn't call him Tradinias, did he?

paladine's eyes grow wide with concern.. why yes... i do believe that was the word... should i be worried?
PostPosted: Tue Jun 02, 2009 8:58 pm

*Hopian makes a strange noise, somewhere between a groan and a growl*

He's lucky Kero didn't pull him over his knees. Tradinias is the worst word in Desert Miner...it's so bad, it starts about half the blood-feuds in the felinal city. It refers to a Vampyric Matriarch who sired an illicit child (out of mate-lock), and then drained him and turned him into a ghoul while he was still a cub to cover her misdeeds.

Yeah...I can gather my brother was upset by that.

well... as luceil was drawing on memories given him by his own self... i'd say it was a good deal like the pot calling the kettle black, iffin ye ask me... chuckles paladine... then he quickly sobers.... but this that has been my argument all along... kero wants his younger self to grow up as naturally as possible, but insists on giving the kid his memories for communication abilities... and those memories contain a great deal more than mere language... they have to for luceil to understand what the words and concepts mean... in other words he force fed him a ton of information but the child was not on a true emotional level to handle it all... and luceil is smart... he needs to be to grow into the kero we all know and love.... paladine rolls his eyes... but smart does not wisdom become instantaneously... it is an ongoing slow process... wisdom draws from experience of which luceil has very little...

*Hopian raises an eyebrow*

Ummmm...it's not so bad as you think. There would not have to be any memories associated with the language he was speaking. We're born speaking a somewhat fluent Desert Miner.

However, you're right about my brother. He always has been meddlesome. I'll talk to him, see what I can do to get him to leave you alone.

*He looks at Luciel, who has just woken up*

Should you ever say that again, though, especially to Kero...I wouldn't want to be you. My brother can be very creative when he takes revenge. Or you'd find yourself over his knee. One of the two.

paladine shakes his head... for you there would have been no problem... for yer language is inborn... and outside various words and phrases which no doubt alter and shift in meaning due to experience... basic language remains stagnant... but luceil is a dragon... not a desert miner... and for him, language is an ever shifting vibrant form of communication... to understand what a language means, one must also experience it... to say something is a cat, one must know what a cat is... therefore to drop a language whole into an individual... one must drop in memories as well... even if one filters it to keep out the personal effects, the definitions remain... and there are some things luceil is not yet ready for... as he does not have the maturity... physical and emotional to understand them... he no doubt knew the word meant something very very bad... but the level of bad is something he had yet to experience... now that he has... i pray he learns from his error...

he looks down at the still groggy dragonling... and maybe... just maybe he has learned something even more important... that impulsiveness isn't always a good trait... especially for a dragon... there is much to be gained by thinking before one does.... anything... he says the last with unusual sternness....

*A sibilant, hissing laughter comes from above, where Kero and Lyssan are both floating, Kero having assumed the form of a Wyvern for the purpose of true flight*

Well, Well, Well...I have been subjected to some creative punishments in my day, Bahamut...but that takes the cake. I woiuld never have thought of that.

And you're right, brother...I have been a little too meddlesome here...had I not given Luciel the power to speak clearly, he wouldn't have been able to call me that.

However...now he knows it's bad...so I will expect him to refrain from using that word, should I leave the language in his head. You really don't want me to lose my temper, Paladine...it was all I could tdo to retaiun control last time. I went off so nobody had to see the monster I become when enraged. Be glad you didn't, Bahamut...that's something no-one should see.

paladine nods... it is a wise man who knows his limitations... i, too, am known for having divine fits of temper... and the least said about that, the better... welcome back, btw
PostPosted: Wed Jun 03, 2009 1:26 pm

I am no wise man, Bahamut...neither wise, nor a man. However, I do know what happens when I lose my temper. I will cease meddling with Luciel's upbringing. Luciel...I accept your...

*Looks at the last letter*

Rather, yours and Paladine's apology.

*Teleports away*

a bedraggled lyssan pops into view right under paladine's nose... startling him...

oops!... sorry, draco.... i am a bit off kilter right now... (an understatement as she looks rather drained... and quite singed...) ye haven't seen kero around anywhere... one minute he was in front of me and the next he disappears... leaving me smack dab in the middle of the void... just as some rift riders from the seven hells show up.... not sure what they were doing there... but i toasted them and decided not to wait around... used up too much energy... need to feed... so ye'll not be seeing me for awhile... don't want to wrack havoc on yer little valley here... she flashes him a wan grin then blinks out before he can even formulate a greeting, leaving both him and luceil alone in the glade with hopian....
