Isobel Bellamy Whoot! yay! *dances with Lurichan for no particular reason* know anything about Goth music? I know a little bit here and there, but then again I don't really pay much attention to genre definitions really. See also the banner i made with a bunch of different band names on it.

I know quite a bit but there are holes in my knowlege, I created my new thread because like it says, I'm fed up of non-goth bands being called goth If I hear one more declaration of someone's love of Manson because he's "so goth" I'm going to go postal *shudders*

Meh, Manson is just Manson. I don't really care for most of his songs all that much anyways though, just a few here and there perhaps. The problem is that a lot of people perceive him as goth because of the dark undertones and the makeup.

The problem is that a lot of people perceive him as goth because of the dark undertones and the makeup. Shock-rock isn't really my thing, I've nothing against people who listen to it but I just get slightly techy when people call it Goth just because he wears black and loads of make-up. It's not his fault people are stupid in their categorising. (I only condone labelling in music, not people)

I get confused when the music lables get too far down the line and then you have so many different catagories of the same thing. If I like it, good, if not all well. I perfer just the general categories, once I try to get to sub catagories I get lost. ^^*

*laughs* yeah, the ridiculous ammount of sub-categorising is annoying but broad ones are ok by me. Sometimes they are a necissary evil to tell if you're more likely to like a band, some people don't like screamo bands so, if they hear a band is screamo they can safely tell whenther or not they'll like it. It just becomes a problem when people come into the picture sweatdrop
But I'm young, I'm changing a lot recently. I'll probably look back on myself in two years and say "wow, I can't believe I thought this" just like I think of myslef two years ago at the moment

Don't worry, everyone changes with time as their perceptions shift based on personal experiences.
