Doran looked back down at the steak and eagerly took the plate into his lap. He wanted to just tear into the meat, but he'd be polite and use a fork and knife if they were provided. "I don't know, ma'am. He was acting strange. Well, more strange than usual. I think he's upset but I don't know why... he's confusing," the boy explained with a sigh, his ears pressing low against his head.

"Was he talking about anything in particular? Like, his father, or anything that would obviously make him upset?" His mother asked quietly, as if asking herself that very question. But she shrugged and continued. "With Gunther... sometimes he just gets moody. It really has nothing to do with you... he's probably just tired out or something." The lady gently smoothed out her skirt as she spoke. "But I don't think it has much to do with you, Doran, because he really likes you."

Slowly eating his steak, Doran listened to her and her questions. "W-well I kinda, um, snuck into his room when he was bathing and I found an old picture of his father and brother... He was pretty upset when he found me and we talked and stuff..." Doran still seemed a bit troubled from the expierence.
The boy shyly looked at her, his cheeks tinted red a little. "He... he does? I thought it was only a reaction after having lost the other slave... I- no one's ever cared about me before," he admitted and suddenly didn't feel hungry. In fact, he was feeling kinda bad. Was it his fault that Gunther was acting this way? Doran wasn't quite sure whaat he should be doing. "Everything was so much simpler on the streets... the only thing anyone's ever cared about is how much I'd work for and if the goods were aquired."

Jei simply shook his head. "It wasn't hard for me to not judge one by the color of their ribbons." Jei said, looking to Iyla. "I didn't read the sign as I came in, I thought that something so trivial was not necessary." Jei explained. He looked back out towards the house, smiling slightly. Why he did so was a mystery, even to himself.
The beginning.... Jei started, getting lost in thought. Of so many things. Jei thought, deciding to end his train of thought there. Looking back to Iyla, he smiled. "You don't have to shut up, you know. I'd like to hear some things about you." Jei said, as he leaned his back up against the tree, folding his wings once more.
"That is, if you don't mind." Jei added. The last thing he wanted is to make Iyla uncomfortable.

Iyla allowed the man to say his piece before biting her lip, shocked only slightly by the proposition. Many times had she watched interactions and interests of others from the bars of her cell, so this practice was not unfamiliar. Her thoughts on the matter and responses, however, were untested. All this fit into a simple thought: Um... me? Her gaze shifted to his folded, soft-looking wings, and she sighed, allowing her legs to unfold from her body. She shifted back to where her hands supported her as she spoke.
"Things about me? I wouldn't say there's much to hear. I've been a slave nearly all my life, and before that... well, that's an entirely different story. I mean, I have opinions like other people, if you'd like to hear that kind of thing," Iyla offered. She shifted her gaze to his person to bask in its presence along with gauge its reaction. He had done so much for her, so it felt wrong to hide anything from him, but she wasn't the type to spill her guts easily. He would have to pry... and gain her trust.
Maybe if we come upon an interesting discussion, we won't have to talk about me so much, she thought with half-hope, a tiny smile adorning her lips. A part of her wanted to know him badly, though it wasn't the most vocal. Her life as a slave had given the other senses (caution being one) lungs.

After the telepathic message, he heard Vanity scrambling to get ready. Is she that desperate for pancakes? Or is she just trying to be one time? I dunno. Sythe thought, as he shrugged slightly. When Vanity entered the kitchen Sythe looked up from the pancakes that he had been making. "I hope you don't mind me wearing this..." Sythe smiled slightly. "Of course I don't mind you wearing that." Sythe said, before flipping one of the pancakes. He looked up to her again. "I have to say, though, that it does suit you quite nicely." Jei complimented, meaning it as a general compliment.
~*OOC*~ Ack! Sythe's part is too short-ish. *le sigh* Oh well. ~*OOC*~

Hmmygah! I have been away from Gaia for awhile so sorry for the delay, stupid school and english paper. =_=;; Let me try to remember the name of Character.

"Oh, thank you...but why do you have womens' clothing in the house? Do you have guests over often?" Vanity said as she walked over to Sythe, "Oh, do you need help with that?" She eyed him curiously, she couldn't help but think that something was going to be different today as she continued to pulled on the bodice but then again she has only been here a day so she couldn't really put it that way. In her mind Vanity couldn't help but disagree with Sythe, this dress didn't not seem to "suit her nicely" , it was built for a totally different person, of course, someone with maybe the regal and grace she didn't have to pull off this dress.

Jei looked over to her, his head still resting on the tree. "Your opinions, interests, anything." Jei said. "Basically I just would like to know you more." Jei added. That was the truth. He did want to get to know her better. She seemed a nice person, and so far Jei quite liked who she was as a person. If anything, Jei knew she would become a great friend in time, or maybe even something more if those feelings arose.
"Even if it's something trivial that you like to complain about, I don't mind." Jei said, as he closed his eyes once more, his head leaning softly on the tree. The feathers on his wings, black and beautiful, fluttered slightly as a small breeze blew around them. More sakura blossoms fell, falling around Jei and Iyla, contributing more to the atmosphere.
Sythe looked down to the pancakes, flipping them again, giving himself time to think about the question in order to give what he hoped to be a satisfactory answer. He looked up to Vanity, and started speaking. "I used to rent out the house for a short time. One of the residents that boarded here was a woman. When she left she left her clothes behind, saying that she wanted to get a new wardrobe anyways." Sythe explained, lying. He was quite good at that, and even if the lie didn't fly, he could always alter memories... right?
"No, no. I am quite alright." Sythe said, turning the burner off. "Well, there is one thing you could help me with." He said as he picked up the pan, sliding the pancakes onto a plate. "I have placed more pancakes in a plate in the oven. Grab that towel over there and get take them to the table, could you? I'll bring the cutlery and everything else with me when I come."

"Oh okay." Vanity walked over to the oven, on her way grabbing the towel. As she continued on the task at hand she couldn't help but to think that something was drilling in the back of her mind, something that didn't seem quite right. Vanity furrowed her eyebrows in thought and frustration as she began to slowly life the plates, Sythe said this house was a ruin when he bought it and remade it, so who would live here before then?
Vanity walked over to the table with the plates of pancakes being careful not to be her clumsy self again and drop it. Vanity then pushed the thought back to the darkest corners of her mind remembering that Sythe could read minds. If he lied he lied for a reason, a reason that is his own so she would not probe. For now Vanity would act the part an innocent little girl that was smitten with her new master, the part she's been playing ever since she had gotten here.
Vanity put the pancakes down on the table carefully and placed the towel aside, "There you go." She smiled brightly, hiding away her toubled thoughts.

Iyla, unused to such invitation, thought for a long while, or so it seemed. After an entire minute, she turned to face him, a bright but small smile adorning her features as she sat up a bit more. "When I was a child, the first thing I ever learned to say was 'soap'," she stated, grin widening. Such an abstract tidbit of information was sure to incite some reaction from her newly-founded master. Since she had left her sentence hanging with the promise of more, she again turned her gaze away, eyes trailing after the ever-falling blossoms. In their soft pink-and-white glory, they glowed in an ethereal way that certainly wouldn't be present without freedom or sunshine or hope or Jei.
"I do not believe in love at first sight, or that the stars tell tales, or that fairy-tale dreams do come true and the existence of a greater being rules over us all. I actually don't believe in any kind of fortune-telling, really, unless it's so uncannily accurate, it must be magic." Iyla pushed a lock of ebony hair back behind her ear to join it to the rest of the mane, wondering silently what he would think. Until she received an answer, she would not meet his eyes. Most people were appalled when they heard of her extremely cynical take on life. Few had listened to her speak before, though, for she had never shared with them. Actually, she had only gone on so long because her mouth was spilling words without permission once more, so she shut it and kept it that way.

Sythe nodded to her in thanks, as he came out of the kitchen, carrying one more plate of pancakes and all the cutlery. Setting them down on the table, he sat, letting out a small sigh of content. Or was it a sigh of content? Only Sythe knew. He looked to Vanity, and motioned her to join him at the table. "There's plenty food, so please, help yourself." Sythe said, as he himself dug in. Ah, bloody hell. Forgot the syrup. Sythe thought, as he summoned the syrup from the fridge. The syrup floated right past Vanity, setting itself in front of Sythe, who promptly picked it up and applied the sweet but sticky mixture to his pancakes.
Jei sat there while she talked, taking in everything that she said. For a long moment, he said nothing and was quite still. Taking a breath he started to speak. "I do not remember my early childhood. I, as you, do not believe in love at first sight. I believe that there is a higher being, but they don't do very much. I believe that there is a balance in the world, meaning that there is the same amount of evil as there is love, and the same amount of destruction as there is creation. Violence does not end fights, they start them.' Jei said, pausing. He sat there a moment, his eyes staring straight out. "Well, that's about all I can think about for the moment. I know that I was supposed to be quiet and just listen to things about you, but I thought you might like to know." Jei said as he closed his eyes again.
"You're quite cynical, you know." He commented, opening one eye to look at her, before closing it again.

Iyla smiled a little, unable to help a small, musical chuckle. "Yes, I am," she said, still grinning just a bit. One hand was now supporting her, the other wrapped around her two legs, and she stared out at the house and everything around it without fear of judgment. "And for future reference, feel free to say whatever you'd like, whenever. Whether or not you consider yourself my master, I am indebted to you, and actually enjoy listening." Wow. Today was obviously a talkative day. Well, it was better than starting off awkwardly. She was telling him the truth, too, which was impressive, even to her. It was hard to shake an awful habit like lying and unfortunately, Iyla had managed to pick it up. Maybe it was possible to break it soon.
Shifting a little to rest her head on her knees once more, she turned her gaze to trace over Jei's form, still quietly amazed in a small part of herself. With a small sigh, she closed her eyes. "So, what're these guests like?" she asked without ulterior motives. This was nice, just talking. It was definitely refreshing. A small breeze tousled her hair and so she was forced to break her carefully constructed stance to bring it under control. She still looked in his general direction, but more at the grass beside him. It reminded her of a poem she used to know, or perhaps a song. It was hard to tell.

[`Auron`] Lein turned and went through the now-open door that led into his home. "Well, come on in. Just watch yourself, a few paces in front of you is the ledge of the doormay, it's a little raised from the ground." Lein said, making sure to tell her of that obstacle, seeing as even though Lein could see, he still tripped over that bloody bump. He glanced around the entrance-way in his home. There were tile floors, giving way to oaken floors that spread throughout the house. There were many different plants scattered around the entrance-way and the house, providing the home with some colour and interest.
Turning back to Fayte, he said, "Would you like me to describe the inside of my home as well, Fayte?" More than likely she will. Lein thought, as his tail flicked ot one side randomly. Oh, I just remembered! I'm supposed to meet up with Jei and Sythe later on today. That oughta be fun. Lein thought. When Fayte heard the door swing open and, she hesitated. Listening carefully to where his footsteps fell and about where he stopped to stand, she took a hesitant step forward. The last thing she wanted was to look like a fool by tripping in front of him. She considered his warning of the raised doorstep carefully as she stopped right at the door. Fayte lifted her foot a fraction and tapped it on the bump twice before she was confident enough to step over it and go inside. The young neko made a mental note of how many steps it took to get from the gate to the front step, and from the front step to the raised spot in the doorway where she must be extra careful with her footing. With her ears swiveling around in all directions, she looked as though she were trying to imitate a bat's talent for echo-location. Of course, past the basic idea that she got of the room's size, Fayte couldn't tell where furniture was, if there were rugs she could trip on or if everything was carpet or wood, or what anything there looked like.
Lein had mentioned to her he was rather wealthy, which he would have to be to purchase a person, so she was interested in what he would furnish his home with. On the contrary, though, she had been 'taught' that she never ask a master for anything, that she should never disagree, and that she must always be grateful no matter what. There were many other lessons, but not all were relevant to the situation. "If you'd like to tell me, then yes. That would be... nice." Her smile was pleasant but guarded as she turned her head off in one direction, then another, and finally back where she thought he was standing. Her aim was off by a few inches, and she ended up staring at a wall past his shoulder on level with his chin.

Jei's hair danced around his features a little, the small breeze disturbing it's previously settled form. Jei shook his head a small bit, getting the majority of the hair out of his vision, before looking over to Iyla. "You are not indebted to me." he said, flatly. "All I did was simply free you, nothing to be indebted over... At least not to me. Others may free people and think that they are, or should be indebted to them, but that's not how I think." Jei explained. He let out a small sigh. "I hope you get rid of that feeling of being in debt to me." He added.
Truly, he did not enjoy having people feel indebted to him. He was a generous person, that's all. Jei uncrossed his arms, moving so that he was laying down under the tree, his hands behind his head as though they were a pillow. "These guests are old friends of mine. I have invited them over because i haven't seen them in a while. I don't remember if I mentioned this, but they are bringing their new... companions? Yes, that's a good word. They'll be bringing their new companions along." Jei said, as he looked up to Iyla. "They both had just freed a slave each, that's how I got back in touch with them." Jei explained.
Lein smiled to her, even though he knew she couldn't see him. "Well, there are tile floors in this room, a nice olive-grey-ish color, I guess. Umm... Beyond that the floor goes from tile to wood. Right in front of the entrance there is a large wooden staircase, leading upstairs. Um, there's some foliage around, to spruce the place up a bit.... Um..." Lein said, looking around with his hand on his chin, not really sure how to describe it.
His hand went from his chin to lightly scratch the back of his head. "Sorry, it seems I have lost my ability to describe things at the moment." He said, sheepishly.
~*OOC*~ Sorreh that Lein's part is a bit short. I'm still trying to get used to him as a character. ~*OOC*~
