Eric dug through a duffel bag he brought and pulled a stone out of it. He summoned his keyblade and began striking the flint against his keyblade to light the wood. Sparks flew and some of the leaves ignited. The fire started off small.

Lawrence looked to Alex. "You alright kid? You look half dead," he said.

Lawrence softly set Alex down on the sand. "We'll wake him up for s'mores. The guy may be a master, but he's still only seven. He needs his nap time," he said. The fire was burning brightly now.

Eric warmed his hands by the fire. "You saved my butt back there man,"
"She'll probably kill me for it,"
"She's out of listening distance. We should be safe,"
"Excuse my paranoia," Lawrence said.

Eric chuckled. "Sometimes I believe he's imprinted on you,"
Lawrence grumbled. "I'm not his father. I'm way to young to even be considering that,"
"He certainly doesn't seem to think that,"
"Shut up," Lawrence said.

Lawrence shuddered. "Thats kind of weird to say since I was the one who 'killed' him," he said.

Lawrence sighed. "poor kid. Even after the head adopted him and those twins. His surrogate mother is hardly around and he's alone a lot. Such a pity," he said.

Eric rotated his shoulder. "Should he arrive and attempt to harm or corrupt him in anyway we'll be ready. I don't even need a shirt to take him on,"
"But you do need your glasses," Lawrence replied.
Eric shrugged and chuckled. "Point taken," he said petting peppermint.

Eric chuckled. "You want the truth or the story I tell people?"
"You're such a bad liar when you tell that one," Lawrence laughed. "She'll never believe it. Those fools at school may have but she won't,"
"It's completely believable and you know it. You believed it for three years until I told you,"
Lawrence sighed. "That I did,"

Lawrence sighed and looked to Alex. "I'll take care of this,"
He said.

Eric rubbed his eyes. "All right. You're a close friend so i'll tell you the truth. I need them because I was a victim of shrapnel via a morning star heartless body slam attack combined with overexposure to those little fire guys. Red sonatas or whatever," he said.
(I can't remember the red ones! gonk I remember blue rhapsodies and yellow requiems, but not the red or green ones)

Eric sighed and rubbed his eyes. "It's not a happy day when your peers jeer you for what was essentially a failure to yourself. I didn't have many friends to begin with. The glasses sure as hell didn't help," he said.

"ah quit your moping. You've got a whole ensemble of friends young and old now," Lawrence said reassuringly.
"Indeed. But the neighbors still give me strange looks back home. Namine's parents are the first people to really approach my family since we've arrived there. It's sad really,"
"Those neighbors are as... Jerks. They should treat us with authority for what we do for them. Without people like us they'd be rotting in the ground," Lawrence said shifting the logs in the fire with a long stick.
