*Hopian nods...then dissolves into sparks...when Tam gets back, there is a crying cub curled up against Hopian...and he flicks his mind out to Tam*
She was going to grab one of them to show to me...because she thought she would be like Kero, and kill a mean snake...and before you take me to task, Tam...these were poisonous snakes....

"Impress upon her how much older Kero is than she and how hard it was for him to kill the mother snake... and how sad we would all be if she wasn't with us anymore... Please, Hope... " sends Tam with a hefty sigh. He hands Puss to Kero and goes to clean up. All that flitting about and running has made him quite sweaty.
While at the river he summons ol Granddad and tells him about the nest and the extermination efforts they have done.
"Ye like to ice fish, sonny?" Asks the old fish when he is done.
Tam shrugs. "Never tried it, Granddad."
The old gar nods and tells him to come out to the lower pool were it freezes over good in the winter and he'll teach him how. "Ye'll need to cut a hole in the ice to reach me though... fair enough?"
Tam shakes his head in amusement. "Let me get this straight. Ye, a fish... is offering to teach me how to ice fish?"
"Plenty of dummies in the sea... or river fer that sake... ye'll be doing the breeding pool a favor." says the old gar diving back under the water.

*Hopian does give her a lecture...and she winds up grabbing Puss for comfort like a stuffed animal....leading Kero to laugh and dart off, tracking Tam*

He finds him sitting on a log that juts out over the water, staring at the falls thoughtfully.

Tam looks back at him and smiles warmly at him. "Thinking..." He looks back at the water and runs a hand through his hair. "Kero... am I a good parent?"

Tam laughs wryly... "Says the cub... but I wonder, would I pass muster where it counts. Hope was asking me for advice... me of all people. I... I just don't know... sometimes I feel like I'm in uncharted territory without a map."

Tam shrugs. "Not sure... I was nothing more than a glorified babysitter until he dumped this on me. I agreed not realizing how much it would entail... not that I've minded the work, mind ye. I wouldn't trade the last 13 years fer nothing... You have been a blessing as well as a comfort to me, dulcha."

Thanks, sira....sira...can I ask you something? Seeing...what just happened with Salunia....I heard Hopian's side of the argument...what's your side of it? I asked him why he thought it was acceptable, and he told me how he thought it was a proper replacement for certain things which would have caused lethal consequences...he says otherwise, he lets Saluny do what she wants, within the boundaries of the rules. So...what is your side of this...because I think, after helping with Sal...that I can really understand.

Hope was right, this time, from his point of view. I may have approached it differently, but I won't begrudge him the right of it here." He looks up and flashes the lion a trembling smile. "Faced with the lose of one one loves is a terrible thing, dulcha... truly it is... and she did do something that could have had fatal consequences."
