Suddenly a plate of steak, the foxboy's favorite, appeared beside Doran. "Thought you might be a little bit hungry." None other than Gunther's mother herself was standing beside him, smiling in her motherly manner. Gently she sat down on the bench too, the plate of the succulent meat separating the two. "Are you doing OK, sweetie? I saw you out here all by yourself, and I just got a little worried about you."

Doran smelt the steak before he saw it. The boy looked down at the plate, then decided against tearing into the meal and looked up at the woman. He straightened out his posture and sighed, looking away. "Thank you, ma'am. I'm doing fine. Well, better than your son, at least. I'm just dying of boredom," admitted the foxboy and he glanced down at the steak again. It looked rather tempting and suspicious at the same time.

Iyla listened pleasantly to him as he spoke, lulled by both her food and his mesmerizing voice. Everything seemed very warm and pleasant right about now, even when the man was agitated. She continued on in this little world of warmth until he mentioned the others. Then, she stopped.

The black-maned woman set her utensils back on the plate, paling slightly. As if she weren't bad enough with people. Sighing, she took another slightly shaky bite before responding. "...that sounds nice." It sounded nice, sure, maybe to someone else. But she trusted his judgement. He knew more about these people than she did, she just hoped they wouldn't be terribly judgemental or anything of the sort. It had been less than a day, and she had yet to be overwhelmed, but by the looks of it, it was possible.

This was one part of freedom she hadn't considered while sitting alone in her cell.

Realizing how unwilling she seemed, Iyla finished her breakfast and placed her hands in her lap, giving him a smile. "I'm sure they're very worthy people... and friends are never bad to have." She chuckled despite herself. "I haven't made any in awhile, but, you know, that's why we should meet them. Really, it does sound nice."

Her stomach was full, her body had been stretched and used, and life was ten thousand times better than it had been. Iyla was prepared, if anything.

Her reaction was a mixed one. A mix between acceptance, hesitation, happiness, and slight despair all rolled up into one little ball of emotion. Jei smiled, leaving analysis till later. "They are quite good people, although their new companions I have yet to meet. They were slaves just like yourself. By coincidence all three of us, myself, Sythe and Lein, all freed one slave in the past few days. That's who they'll be bringing with them." Jei said, pausing to finish up the last of his breakfast. "I'm sure everything will be fine." he said, reassuring her.

"Now. What would you like to do? Go out for a walk? Umm..... what else is there to do?" Jei said, pondering his own question. Usually he would read a book when he was bored, either that or train, and sometimes he even flew around at leisure. Shrugging, he looked to Iyla. "I'm at a loss for things to do, gomen." That seems kind of sad, for one not to be able to think of something to do with their time.

[[ Oh, it's fine. I get the feeling I'll be all drained out of writing mojo if I'm not careful... ]]

Iyla's interest perked at this. Fellow slaves. That changed everything. "Wonderful, wonderful... um... yes, we could go for a walk. Your grounds look simply beautiful, I wouldn't mind in the slightest." There she went again with that open and honest thing. Since when did this happen? Pushing back her chair, she gave him a smile. "I'd like to take a bath after that, though, if you don't mind. I'm a little... sweaty after our practice. Fresh air would be nice, though."

It was like a waterfall of words. Closing her mouth, Iyla became mildly confused as to why she was chattering. It made sense, in some unimportant way. Oh, well. She pushed her chair in behind her and smiled at him. Yes, a smile was safe. Anything else said would not be.

He had a certain charm about him, Jei did. But maybe it was just because he was her master. But, perhaps, it was something different. Suddenly, the slave was very conscious of the two colored ribbons at the back her neck. Hm. I wonder if he'll be the one to remove the ribbons... she pushed the thought away, watching him politely for an answer.

Jei got up as well, taking his plate and placing it on the island, before coming back and clearing away Iyla's dishes. "That can be arranged. We will only stay out as long as you wish." Jei said. "I have explored my surroundings enough already." Turning to her, he smiled, before turning in the direction of the door that led to outside. Opening it, he motioned for Iyla to go before him. Where should we go? The forest? Or should we just sit outside under the sakura tree? I guess I'll just ask her, or follow her wherever she wanders. Jei thought.

Iyla looked at him, eyes widening slightly, before she stepped out into the fresh-air'd world, unsure of herself. "May I...?" she said before creeping out, mouse-like in her curiousity.

It was so... fresh. Beautiful. Her eyes widened more as she began walking, her bare feet feeling cool and dewy against the grass. Smiling widely, she looked back at him. "This is beautiful," she said for what felt like the thousandth time, looking out at the scene before her. So much color compared to that grey dreariness. Finding the path again, Iyla tried to decide where to go, surveying the scene before her. A forest was awhile off. She had always loved forests, with promises held beyond every tree. A sakura, as well, and several other beautiful plants littered the area.

Closing her eyes, she quickly decided. Sitting outside and enjoying the scenery would be better than walking around, especially in bare feet. "Are we allowed to go in that direction?" she asked a little meekly, gesturing toward the petaled blossoms.

Jei chuckled a little. "Yes, you may." he responded, following her out. He was not too surprised that she stopped to take in the beauty of the scene before her. It truly was a beautiful sight to behold. Jei knew that she thought this, she had only said that word 'beautiful' how many times now? Smiling, Jei said, "Yes, it is quite beautiful, isn't it?" When she asked if she was allowed to wander, Jei allowed himself a small, delighted chuckle. Walking up to her, he placed a hand on her shoulder. Looking at her, he said, "Iyla, you can wander wherever you heart desires. My possessions are your possessions as of now. You don't need to ask me to go anywhere, or do anything. Just go ahead and do it. Alright?"

Jei wanted to get this point across. He wanted her to stop asking for things, for now that she lived in his home, she had a right to do anything she wanted. He knew that was a big adjustment, but he felt that she would get quite used to it over time. Jei just hoped that he wasn't overwhelming her. He took his hand off her shoulder, noticing that he might be making her uncomfortable. To be honest, he had kind of forgotten about placing his hand on her shoulder. Should I apologize? It'd be the polite thing to do, but I don't want to apologize unless she felt uncomfortable. I'll wait for her reaction. Jei thought.

Iyla found herself naturally leaning into his touch, though was too amazed to even notice it herself. Upon him removing it, though, she snapped back into awareness, away from the fantasy before her. "Oh... yes. I'm sorry, you've said that already, haven't you?" She blushed a little, then began timidly walking in the direction she desired. After a few steps more, though, the woman stopped, smiling. "I really am free, aren't I?" she said with awe, turning to face him with sparkling eyes.

It was her freedom flight all over again.

Biting her lip to keep from jumping, she began striding towards the cherry blossoms again, this time with a slight bounce in her step. He was assertive, and yet kind. He was structured, and yet loose. From what she had seen thus far, they would be getting along swimmingly.

When she arrived at the tree, she stopped to look over it. Again, Iyla turned on her heel. "Thank you," she said again with vigor. He had no idea. Containing herself once more, the woman sat down beneath the shade, taking a deep breath.

[[ Hee hee. Swimmingly. ]]

Jei heaved a sigh of relief in his mind. It seems as though she was fine with me touching her. That's good. Jei thought, the prospect of her being comfortable with him touching her numbing his senses in an odd way. Shaking his head, he rid himself of any thoughts, before responding to her. "Have I told you that?" Jei said, pondering the question. "I really can't remember." Jei said, shrugging his shoulders. "And, yes, you are truly free." Jei said, as small smile adorning his lips.

Cracking his neck, he opened his wings to their full extent, stretching them out. This whole time he had kept them folded, and it started to become a little uncomfortable. His long silver hair swayed out behind him as he followed Iyla to the tree. "You have no need to thank me. I freed you from that place because I wanted to." Jei said, as he took a seat to the left of her. His left wing was now folded, his right wing stretched out and curved around in front of Jei, as if protecting him from something.

I hope you know what I mean by the wing curving/protection thingly. xP I couldn't describe it very well.

[[ Ah, yes. I roleplay with a friend who's obsessed with wings, so there have been various terms... o.o; ]]

Iyla watched him move as she settled down, pulling her knees up and loosely hugging them to herself. She was smiling still. "Your wings are so graceful..." she murmured, reaching out to them for a moment, then withdrawing her hand. If there was anything to avoid, she felt it would be overstaying her welcome. Thus far, though, that didn't seem possible in any way, shape, or form, though he did seem to carry a sort of protection about him, as if there was a certain key that unlocked everything carried inside.

Iyla couldn't help but smile at the mental image.

Sighing, she stared up into the branches, relaxing against the trunk of the tree. After a few moments, she took a deep breath, closing her eyes. If she wasn't so excited, she would've been taking a nap. Perhaps one day she would have the chance to, but not then. "There were many other slaves," she suggested, staring off into the distance, her hands still clasping her knees. There was an imposed question in it that she didn't expect an answer to.

Those wings looked so soft...
PostPosted: Sat Dec 30, 2006 12:19 am

Jei had closed his eyes, taking in the serenity of the moment. Sitting under this tree imposed that feeling of intense calm. Calm swept over his features, a sudden softness that had not been there before bubbling slowly and smoothly to the surface. He opened his eyes halfway to see her hand reaching out to his wings. He smiled softly, when she retracted her hand. He stretched out the wing that was closest to her slowly, offering it to her. "I don't mind." he simply said.

Jei smiled lightly at her comment. "Yes, there were many others." he said, closing his eyes once more. He tilted his head back, resting it on the trunk of the tree. "The reason I talked to you was because... well... how can I say it?" Jei said, pausing to think. He let out a small sigh. "All I can say is that I chose to free you because you were different. I don't exactly know how, you just were." Jei said, as he opened his eyes and looked to her. "At that moment all I could think was 'I'm the one to set her free. I'm the one that will give her her wings to fly on her own power.'" He closed his eyes again, chuckling slightly. "I guess that sounded kind of odd, coming from a man you only met just recently. Sorry about that." Jei said, as he stopped talking. His mind was too occupied with the past few days leading up to and including when he freed Iyla.

Iyla found herself examining his features again, almost feeling the very emotions he seemed to reflect. I wonder... began a thought that ended in countless different ways. Reaching out, she gently stroked the offered appendage, again feeling an overwhelming sense of peace. Taking a deep breath through her nose, Iyla paused as she listened to him, then began slowly feeling with the back of her hand again. She was good at listening.

As his flowing voice came to a stop, so did her movement, and she brought her hand back to her body after a few seconds. It sounded very much as if there was more to the story. She wanted to ask, but she knew that would probably be pushing it. Her head nodded for her until he began apologizing, when she began shaking it. "No... I mean, it makes sense." Taking a breath, she dared herself to speak.

"Many of the other slaves are rebellious I suppose, or bitter," she said with a pondering tone. "Almost without hope, a need to be tamed." She smiled fondly. "I have a white ribbon around eight feet long tied around my torso... even if that doesn't mean anything to you, it means something to the other buyers." Iyla shrugged, her gaze turning upward. "You saw that in a way without colors. That... takes something."

Allowing her arms to fall back to support herself against the ground, she finished. "We may have just met, Jei, but it's the beginning. And I can listen." She laughed a little. "I'd better shut up now..."

She nudged the plate just a bit closer to Doran. "Eat up. It's yours. I asked the cooks to make it just for you." She smiled at his hesitation, but frowned a little when Doran spoke. "What do you mean, better than my son? Is something wrong with him?" She asked, her eyes showing her concern. "Is he hurt, or is it something else?"
