"But I have complete faith that between my great aim and your exceptional catching skills that not a single one would be hit." After a few more moments of mental debate, he settles for simply setting the tray down in an empty spot on the table.

"Tempting~ But I of all people know how finicky luck can be. I'd rather not test it." She reached over to one of the trays and snagged herself a cupcake. "Besides, didn't you nearly get a grape carcass on your shoe?"

She smirked a little. "Well I suppose that makes me a sentimental fool." The antagonizing had no effect on her. To the contrary, she seemed to find it almost amusing. When she brushed aside a long curl, the the pointed end of an elf ear came and went in a flash. "Oh, that's a shame." she commented abruptly. "It appears as though the festivities are winding down." Not officially, but more and more dancers were clearing the floor in lieu of the refreshment table.

Jessie took the punch from Gigi with a smile. "Just what I wanted." Maybe it was all the dancing, or perhaps it was the butterflies, but she didn't have much of an appetite right then. On the other hand, a nice cold drink sounded good. She took a long, slow sip while Solsi waved at Gigi.

User Image "Ready for a spin on the floor?" the elf asked, nudging her arm. "Do you have a certain dance you like to do?" "Ah, my knowledge of dancing is informal at best," she confided openly. "I usually just move to whatever song's playing and try to figure it out along the way." She gave a lighthearted chuckle.

He shrugs, "I've had worse things on my shoes." Technically untrue as he prefers to avoid wearing shoes unless he absolutely has to, but he has certainly had worse on his feet in general. He gestures at the tray she had been carrying, "So why are you playing servant anyhow?"

(And everyone ignores that two totally mature adults were just acting like children. All according to plan.)

"A pity, I was lead to believe that gaian parties were more exciting." She continues looking upwards, another smoke ring follows the first as a sweet scent starts filling the air. "Perhaps I'll start some amusement of my own."

"I'm a little afraid to ask what," she mused. Grape juice on any sort of clothing was a monster to get out. Goodness knew she had learned that, favoring white and cream shades in her princess days when banquets were notorious for having red wine. She looked at the tray and huffed. "Caterers are nowhere to be found," she explained. "I've seen a few of the waiters ushering h'orderves and drinks out to people around the dance floor, but it appears the ones meant to keep the banquet table stocked have never worked with a ball like this before." She placed her hands on her hips and looked around, once again trying to spy the workers in question. "Dancing works up an appetite, and those who do not dance at gatherings like these often ease their nerves with something sweet or savory. This is also a prime place for people to gather in conversation, as you see," she gestured to the others around the table. There was almost a science to how this type of event worked, and certain things needed to be in order for it to run smoothly.

Or she had just spent too much time being lectured by the queen. That could be it too.

"I am torn between entertaining Phantom's fee ideas and realizing my last excellent idea to get payback for getting covered in glitter has really only resulted in getting covered in more glitter...I mean stardust." Minty laughed, "I just thought of the worst pick-up line for you, Astraeus. Are you champagne? Because you've got me sparkling."

Clearly Minty thought this was the height of wit. Clearly she was wrong. But she laughed anyways.

(One day all of my terrible ideas aren't going to come out of Minty's mouth. Today is not that day.)

The prince blinked at the sudden pick up line. It was...pretty bad. He had heard commentary on the stardust following him everywhere before...many times before...but still. He smiled politely in response. "Were those the first words to come from one I have just met, I might be concerned. I wish I could say I never heard similar lines before though."

He likely wouldn't tell her even if she did ask. He frowns as she continues, "Do you need any help?"

"Do people often use pick-up lines on you then?" He was lucky to have changed the subject, it was undoubtable that Minty has more terrible lines.

"We're also friends, are we not? And friends don't let friends do all the work when they should be having fun too." He picks up the tray he had sat down, "So let me rephrase, I'm helping you."

"Unfortunately it comes with being a crown prince and a bachelor," he replied, feeling embarrassed for the ones who have done so in the past. "For every one that provides an engaging conversation, there are at least a dozen more that use the tactic."

The redhead opened her mouth to argue, but found she couldn't. She knew a thing or two about stubborn dragons. Once one set their mind to something, there was little she could do to convince them otherwise. She sighed and shook her head, "Alright. Thank you."
