Dungeons & Dragons - The Orb of Kendar

[Kowsauni]

Ambra continues to run through the check point without even stopping . The fate of the goblin didn't even concern her right now. She had much more important things to worry about. The memories of the barmaid dying in her hands were still fresh in her head. She would do anything to stop that from happening again tonight.

Ambra heads towards the center of town towards the mayor as directed.

Mercy is thinking about Sehanine a little too hard and isn't paying much attention, and blindly follows Ambra and Aelgeirr.

As Thork is left alone...

"Wait, so this goblin is the reason all these people died? Why haven't you killed it yet?!" the human guard would exclaim, flabbergasted at what Thork just said. The other soldiers weren't putting their weapons away, but did back off and lower them. They seemed mostly conflicted and not sure how to react, when faced with intimidation and indignant rage at the same time.

"Thork..." the Sergeant would say, stepping forward and putting a hand on the half-orc's shoulder. "I know your intentions are good, but if what you say is true, this goblin will not do anything to help us. Plus, laws don't apply to its kind. Goblins aren't people."

@ A-Team (and Mercy):

The mayor would be easily found, as she were amidst a large gathering of townsfolk circled around her. You would catch her towards the end of some speech.

"-and if possible, push any heavy furniture you can move against any first story windows. Do not try to leave your residences before daybreak. No... even then, wait until some members of the militia sound the all clear before attempting to leave shelter. Those of you without a place to stay, please head to the temple of Avanda and they will see to your safety. Now hurry, time is running out."

The crowd then begins to disperse.

Thork would ignore the human guard's questions and turn his attention to the Sergent. "All tribe have laws; If Clearwell law not apply to Goblin, when does law apply to Thork? Thork has little human blood and orc not people. What harm will happen if Sargent put Goblin in cell for the night?"

(I can't remember, would a bluff one would pass a hidden message?)

"After all goblin give up when Thork appear, only talk to orb." Thork said, hoping he would be able to hint at the Sergent that the goblin may have done something to the orb, and killing him could be bad. And if it wasn't the right orb, the goblin would know... and act out before monsters appear.

Ambra runs up, still out of breatb, brandishing the orb.

Mayor! I have...the orb! Lets go...tower!  

[Plainsfox]

"To hell with this!" Aelgeirr growled. He then picked up the little teifling and started running as fast as he could to get to the tower where the orb was previously kept..

@ Thork:

"... Thork..." the Sergeant would start, trailing off and bringing a gloved hand to her cheek, rubbing it slowly in frustration.

She would exhale slowly, groaning lowly. "... fine. I don't really have any say over anything judiciary in this town, but I can at least imprison this vermin."

"Sergeant!" the human would say with a start, taking a step forward.

"STAY HERE," the half-elf asserted, holding up one hand. "Stay here and man the border. I don't know what needs to be done with the orb to prevent any attack, so stay here."

There was some unpleasant murmurs and grumbles, but the others would oblige their commanding officer, who would then personally escort the Thork-and-prisoner combo towards the jail.

@ Thork, Ambra:

"Oh!" Liartes would say with shock when Ambra made her way forward, Orb of Kendar in hand. The voices of the crowd would mirror her surprise, and it quickly rose to cheers.

"I don't know if there's any sort of ritual needed or anything, but come, let's bring it to the tower at once," the mayor would say, extending one hand invitingly and pointing in the direction where the orb had been kept.

Those present can make me Arcana checks if you want, if you want to see if...

Suddenly, Aelgeirr lifts up the winded wizard and tears past the townsfolk towards the tower, not wasting a beat - permitting her player doesn't protest the pick-up.

"Wha!" Ambra was a surprised to suddenly be picked up from behind but when realized it was her comrade she didn't fight it. After all she was quite tired. She decided to use this time to check up on the orb as she was carried the rest of the way.

((24 Acracna check to see if their is anything wrong with the Orb, or if she needed to do some kind of Arcana check to activate it once it is back inside of the tower.))

Aelgeir would continue to run towards the tower, unless Ambra gives him a reason to slow down. "So, what are you going to do after this, Ambra?"

Having left Mercy in the dust, the A-Team makes to the tower unhindered and unabated. Ambra, from your... erm... elevated poisition, you see a good number of the townsfolk following you, and an assortment of paces.

Aelgeirr, you arrive at the tower! Ambra, you see it's unguarded, contrasting to what you witnessed earlier (before it became public that the Orb was stolen).

What do you do?

What. Do. You. Do.

Aelgeirr would plop Ambra down on her feet. "Sorry. I guess I got caught up in the urgency of it all. Do you want to do the honors?" The high elf gestured to the tower. If Ambra contunued forward, Aelgeirr would follow behind her, one hand resting on the hilt of his sword. This job wasn't done until they got their reward. Who knows what little wrinkle stands in their way.

"Any word on Mother?" Thork would ask as they proceeded to the prison

Ambra seemed to be caught off guard by Aelgeirr;s question. "Oh, Uh...I'll get back to you on that once we survive the night. We are still not done yet but as far as I can tell the orb is already starting to do its work."

Once they arrived at the tower and Ambra was set down she would move forward and put the orb back in place on its pedestal in the tower.

She would take a moment to read the magical lay lines to confirm everything was working as normal.

@ Thork:

"Miranda? You haven't heard?" the woman would say, with a hint of surprise in her voice. "She's being treated by Kassandra. She was found in one of the collapsed buildings this morning. She was unconscious, from shielding two children from a collapsing ceiling. She's a tough old bird."

Thork, I now present you this dilemma: Are you still going to deliver this goblin to jail first?

@ Ambra & Aelgeirr:

Ambra, you return the orb to the pedestal in the tiny tower!

Nothing... particularly expressive happens. It just kind of sits there.

No new check was needed, because nothing has happened to warrant a new check. Everything's quiet.

People from the mob (though not the entirety of them, as some had apparently decided to go for shelter instead) begin to trickle in around the tower, a good number of them carrying torches or lanterns to help them see. They look at you two expectedly, and murmur amongst themselves. Liartes is towards the head of the pack (she wasn't as spry as you two are).

The time for Arcana checks has passed. What do you two want to do, if anything?

Aelgeirr would shrug. "According to Ambra, the Orb should've started working as soon as we entered the town. However, it hurts nothing to bunker down for the night. Maybe post some guards around the Orb to make sure nothing further happens. All up to you." The High Elf would stifle a laugh. "If you guys don't mind, I think I'm gonna spend my night right in this 'tower'. I don't want my work to be undone before I've left this town."

8 is not sufficient to secure both options.
