::Whisper blinked, standing there for a good moment or two in silence, until finally she raised a paw, claw pointed straight upward...:: The sword that fell?
That was Whisper and Tracy...? ::It was that eery calm... one that signalled a rage soon to be brought down on the nearest individual... before she suddenly burst into laughter!!::
::She fell back, holding onto her head, trying to fight it away, shaking her head:: 6 abbey warriors, and it takes two dibbuns to best that miserable fox!!
::It seemed, Whisper didn't take the full picture into consideration, as she laughed away there, shaking her head, calming down once more...:: Ehh... if you hadn't let them past, we'd be an Abbess short of an Abbey, Donato...
I'll talk to her later... ::The bat sighed, seemingly aloof and carefree, deliriously so almost... was she really taking anything he'd just said seriously?::

At her initial silence, Donato had braced himself for an explosion from Whisper. He blinked, surprised, when she burst into laughter, but quickly became annoyed. "Whisper. I know it ended well this time, but it was not a good thing that Gem and Tracy got down to the Great Hall yesterday. If it happens again, I don't think things will work out so well. I need to know that you aren't going to just indulge Gem with this; it's serious."

::Whisper let out an irate sound, like a person just roused from sleep, or as if something had crawled down her throat as she looked exasperated once more:: Okay, okay, I'll chew her out...
...It's not like she hasn't been ferrying Faith through the air for ages now anyway...
I'll tire her out, stop her from getting in anybeast's way... just make sure you keep a wary eye on her just in case, okay? ::Finally, she about turned, looking about as miserable as when he'd first spotted her there now, wings folding down against herself into their familiar caped shape::
((Sorry for delays, I just kept forgetting to post, lol ^^; ))

"You won't-"
"Yes I will."
"I won't hear of it. End of discussion."
"But-"
"No but's, Terra. End. Of. Discussion." it was odd to see Ather out of the infirmary these days but after hearing word of his younger sister wanting to pick up bow and arrow and throw herself in the line of battle, he politely dismissed himself from Jasmine's presence and found the young raccoon in the Great Hall, looking for Tannia to talk about something involving this oncoming war.
"I'm not a dibbun, Ather. You're being unreasonable!" Terra knew her brother meant well in keeping her sheltered but she wasn't a dibbun and she was a skilled archer. She knew her own strengths and limitations and she'd be damned if she sat back and let another war go by without lifting a paw to help her fellow abbeyfolk.
"I almost lost you once, I won't lose you again. You won't be fighting, and thats that."

A bit more at ease now that Whisper seemed like her usual self - annoyed at him, Donato nodded. "Thank you. I will." As Whisper turned miserably around, Donato frowned again. Well, she had just had her arm (wrist?) broken. He shrugged and turned away-
-Only to overhear Ather and Terra's conversation. Even before Ather said it, he just knew what they were arguing about. Somehow their conversation made him uncomfortable, even embarrassed. He thrust the feeling away and headed up to the nursery without a word.

Jamie, generally bereft of any real responsibilities until his Patrol arrived, wandered aimlessly around the grounds after the council. He was already frustrated with the way things were handled at Redwall, and he kept having to remind himself vehemently that Redwall was not a military stronghold. It was designed as a defensive safe-haven. The few number of fighters here would be grossly outmatched, outmaneuvered, and just plain outnumbered by Radaz's horde. He'd had to be patient until the Long Patrol arrived... things would go more his fashion then. But that was likely almost a month away. How long did Redwall have until there was an attack? Well, if nothing else, the abbey could surely sustain itself in a siege until the regiment arrived.
Running through everything in his head, he suddenly desired company to share his thoughts with. His first thought was Eula - he had no idea where she was. Having seen Donato linger in Great Hall, he decided to try there.
Instead of finding Eula - or Donato for that matter - he came across a pair of bickering raccoon siblings. He knew Ather right off. He'd personally carried the raccoon, injured, into Salamandastron one time. He'd be hard to forget. He only assumed the female was his sister, after what he'd heard from Eula. At first, he was going to leave them be, but it soon dawned on him what the two were arguing about.
"Good evenin' to ya, wot," Jamie included himself in the argument, smiling warmly at them both. "Seems a rough time to cross words with each other, eh?" He lifted an eyebrow at Ather. "Aren't you a bit hypocritical there, lad? How old were you when you decided t'go and face some scorpions despite the fact there was an entire regiment to deal with 'em, and a flamin' angry Badger Lord to boot! Yet, Redwall's headin' into a fight they're dangerously outnumbered in, and you're askin' a trained fighter not to be involved?"
The self-righteous young Long Patrol officer shook his head a little. "D'ya really want her to regret not helpin'?"

::It wasn't as if she was ditching her duties, was it?::
::No, of course not!!! Hadn't Turan instructed her SPECIFICALLY to see to a deal of rest? Certainly she wouldn't be begrudged a little time catching her breath after all the spelunking she'd done for them?::
::After all, she had spotted a most suspicious little apple turnover on her way past the kitchen on the way upstairs once again... And now, kicked back, she seemed fairly relaxed to sit there, in the very broken window that the repugnant Radaz had used as his escape earlier, sitting, catching her breath, making sure this little apple turnover wouldn't be causing any trouble, when her ears pricked and pulled at the sound of voices...::
::It wasn't her fault her ears were so good at pulling her to look at the commotion now, was it? As the raccoon would peek her mask-covered face over the edge of the sill, and let her body twist and turn to look on to the focus of her attention, as Jamie certainly seemed to have made a decisive statement between the two fellow Raccoons!!::
::The nerve of it!!! Raccoons in Redwall and not a single extended pawshake? She'd have to certainly do something to change that as she stayed decidedly quiet now...::
::...Right after she finished interrogating that dastardly apple turnover in her mouth...::

Ather knew Jamie, though he had to admit it took his mind a few moments before he could place the creature to a name. But he would never forget him, even though he was half conscious when Jamie carried him to Salamandastron. He had respect for him, that much was obvious. But he couldn't help but be slightly annoyed at his sudden intrusion on their conversation. And he was siding with his sister, of all people! "That was different Jamie and you know it. I had no choice but to fight. It was either fight or stand back and wait to be pierced by a scorpion." perhaps he was exaggerating a bit, but there was some truth to what he said. Not to mention the creatures he was fighting the creatures that slaughtered his family. It was a little different.
"He's just upset because I'm growing up and he can't do anything about it." she murmured this mostly to herself. But knew Ather heard her by the way he sighed.
"Jamie I appreciate your input but this is a family matter." he didn't want to be rude but it wasn't Jamie's little sister wanting to run off into battle.

Jamie just looked impassively at Ather for a few moments. He decided against correcting the circumstances under which Ather fond himself at battle. Whatever half-truths he wanted to create on his sister's behalf was his own business. He pursed his lips momentarily, then turned his attention instead to Terra.
He held a paw out politely, "As your brother said, I'm Jamie, pleasure to me you m'gel." He nodded at her. "Clearly your brother jolly well cares for you, so I won't question his judgment anymore. Jus' wanted to say that the choice is ultimately yours. 'S not fair for him to guilt you into it. It'd have to be your choice, or you'll do nothing but regret it the entire time, especially if fightin' is something you intend to pursue."

Terra gave a nod to Jamie at his introduction, "Pleasure to meet you. You seem to have a good head on your shoulders." she made sure to glare sidelong at Ather after saying this. Jamie was speaking sense but she knew no matter how loud or how ofter Jamie said it, Ather wouldn't change his mind.
Jamie did have a point, Ather would admit that. No out loud of course. Terra was eighteen, there were only so many limits he could place on her. But it was his responsibility to keep her safe. "It's my job to keep you safe, and if I have to lock you in a room to do it, I will."
"You're being absolutely...I can't even....ugh-" was what she ended with. She couldn't even voice her frustration. She loved Ather but hated him in that same moment, it was giving her a headache. She dismissed herself from the table, making sure to nod in Jamie's direction politely, "Pleasure in meeting you, Jamie." Completely ignoring her brother, she exited the Great Hall without another word.
Ather shook his head, heaving in a long sigh and placing a paw to his brow, "She doesn't understand, but I don't care." he wasn't really speaking to Jamie, more like just talking out loud.

Jamie watched Terra leave, waited a beat, then turned to Ather. "Sorry, chap, I didn't mean to overstep, but if she doesn't start making her own decisions now, she never really will." The hare sounded more preachy than apologetic.
"For your sake, I'll hope she chooses not to fight, since you look like you'll just keel over any given moment she decides to go against you," Jamie said, grinning in spite of himself. "An' just to let you know mate, threatening to 'lock her up' will definitely make her want to fight more."

Great, now he was getting a headache. He rubbed at his temples gently, managing a small laugh at Jamie's comment, "Who am I kidding? She's going to fight whether I let her or not." he knew that much. If he locked her in a room she'd climb out the window. If he shipped her away she'd come back, riding on some creature screaming a battle cry like she was from Salamandastron. It was just who his sister was, and as scared as he was to think of his little sibling fighting....there wasn't anything he could do. "I just...want her to feel guilty for worrying me sick." he turned to Jamie. "It's silly I know. I don't make much sense. It's a brother thing, I guess."

"If you just let her organize herself with the others, I guarantee you she'll be safer then if she stuck it out herself if it comes to a battle." Jamie tilted an ear as he raised an eyebrow at Ather again. He might not come from Redwall, but that raccoon was just about as Redwall as anyone could get. At some point, not even the amazing food was worth sticking around such emotional creatures for very long. Even Eula was going soft on this place... it was more than once he caught her brooding over recent events in the past few days.
Jamie laughed at Ather's last comment. "You sound more like a fretful old mother than a brother."
