"But that's the thing... I have to. Now that I have someone else living here with me... it's gotten complicated. I just HAVE to worry about you." Gunther looked back at the garden, staring at all the flowers. "But if you need time to yourself, I won't freak out as badly as I did today. I promise." He looked up and smiled at Doran, with a smile that could nearly melt ice.

(( Sorry that this reply took so long, Auron. English Composition 1 and Computer Applications are both evil. They're eating up my life. ><
But thanks to the long weekend due to Thanksgiving, I had time to reply. Hazzah! ))

When Fayte heard the door open, she followed him in. She'd considered his warning of the raised doorway carefully. Stopping at the door, Fayte tapped her foot on the bump twice then stepped over it. She made a mental note of how many steps it took to get from the front step to that spot and that she had to be careful. With her ears swiveling around in all directions, she quickly figured out about how large the room was, where other doorways were, and roughly where furniture was so she wouldn't bump into things. Even though she could easily figure out where things were located, she had no idea what those things looked like. He'd told her he was wealthy, which he would have to be to purchase a servant, so she was interested in what he'd furnished his home with. "If you'd like to, yes. That would be nice." Smiling pleasantly, she turned her head off in one direction, then another, then back where she thought he was standing.

(( Gah! >< ))

"Hey!" Jei lightly protested, as he was poked in the ribs. Jei flipped the eggs, before looking back up to Iyla. "Sounds like a good idea. I beleive I would enjoy a bonding session." Jei said, before smiling slightly. "Well, the eggs are finished." Jei announced, as he turned off the burner and took the eggs of the pan, placing two on Iyla's plate, and two on his own. Taking the bacon out of the oven, he divided the strips up equally amongst them, before throwing out the paper towel, and placing the plate in the dishwasher.

Jei motioned to the table, inviting Iyla to sit down, as he too, made his way to the table. He placed his plate in his desired spot at the head of the table, before going to the island and fishing out knives and forks for both of them. Walking back over, he sat down, offering the extra utensils to Iyla. This is going to be an interesting day, I hope.

I don't like this post. Bleh.

[[Oh. My. GOD. I am SOOOO SORRY! Life's just... ick. I quoted this, just as a reminder, since it's been so utterly long... eheheh.]]

Iyla's smile widened, somehow, as she sat down at the other end of the table. He was turning out to be a very approachable person, which was a wonderful thing, in her opinion. Everything was running so smoothly, she forgot for just a moment how she came to be in his presence in the first place.

Gently taking the fork and knife from his grasp, she immediatly started on her food. It was not at all surprising that, in its simplicity, it was wonderful. She savored the taste as she replied, "Good. Great, actually. Um, this has been a wonderful starting day." The compliment was meant only as a truth. Iyla knew little of games people played, and enjoyed things at their simplest.

So she ate, and waited, contented still.

Doran looked down at Gunther and sighed, shaking his head. "I'm not worth that much... hell, apparently I'm just worth a few coins. Don't worry, alright?" He grabbed Gunther's arm and tried to haul him up.

The boy wondered exactly what his relationship with Gunther was. It was so complicated, just as he said. Doran wanted to ask Gunther, he wanted to know where they stood, but the foxboy sensed that it was a delicate subject.

It was then that Gunther realized that maybe he was being selfish. All this time he'd been complaining about his life, and Doran was mulling away at some painful events in his that were most likely causing great pain for the foxboy. Quickly, Gunther spoke to try and subtly ask for forgiveness. "Honestly, Doran, I bought you at a discount so they couldn't buy more slaves and make a better profit... but if I'd had to, I'd have sold my soul to those bastards to break you out." He noted, hoping this would make Doran feel a little better. Because he honestly WOULD have, if the man hadn't taken him for a dealer.

Doran didn't feel much better. "The fact is, I was still bought like some exotic animal to be caged and displayed. Thanks for trying, but it doesn't make me feel any better, Gunther."

The boy sighed and turned away, heading back towards the masion. It was no use to dwell on the past. He was relatively free now... But what was he going to do? Doran didn't like to be idle.

Gunther sighed. He was never going to be good enough, was he? This dropped him back into his depression, but not to the point of tears; he was just dead to the world. This was how he responded to pain most of the time, until it all welled up and came out as a crying fit. But that rarely ever happened; he normally had time to work it off. But he was quickly gaining all his pain back, and not knowing what to do with it all. So he went inside to his room to see if he could do anything about it. He locked the door, intent on staying in there until he felt well enough mentally to try again.

He locked the door, intent on staying in there until he felt well enough mentally to try again.

Doran hadn't realized what was going on in Gunther's head. He had ventured back to his room and paused, looking at Gunther's room. Briefly, Doran wondered if he was taking Gunther's worry for granted. No one ever worried about him, not normally... he was just some streetrat to be brushed aside and ignored when it seemed fit.

And then Gunther came and freed him from that world. Maybe, Doran thought, I could start over. I'd never have to steal again... but there has to be something I can do to work for my keep. Doran couldn't shake old habits. He didn't want to be deadweight around the mansion. And he didn't want to give anyone the oppertunity to force him into any favors.

The foxboy sighed and walked over to Gunther's door. Everything would have been so much easier if he was a slave... Gathering his nerve, Doran rapted on the door. "Gunther?" Came his voice, quiet and soft. He almost sounded worried himself. The boy tried the door and found it locked. "Gunther, are you in there? I-I just wanted to say sorry abot earlier..." Doran felt guilty. Had he been self-centered back there? He had wallowed in his own self-pity, that's for sure.

The young lord slowly sat down at his desk, absorbing all that happened in the short time Doran had been staying here. No one had ever made that much of an emotional change in him, ever - he'd cried what, twice already? That was more tears than he'd shed in ages. It was obvious that he did feel something for Doran - he didn't know if it was love, but it might be something close.

Just then there was a knock at the door, and then not far after the door handle jiggled, as if someone was trying to open the door. When he heard Doran's apology, however... slowly Gunther went to the door and opened it, inwardly smiling at the foxboy's concern. "Really, it's fine, Doran. You don't need to apologize."

Doran took a step back as the door opened and found himself looking up at Gunther once again. "Well, if you say so... but don't you dare try to guilt me into doing anything, then," the boy huffed and crossed his arms over his chest.

He stood there for a moment, a little uncomfortable. "So, umm... everything's fine? You're better since earlier?" He ventured to ask, looking at the floor as he did so. Doran didn't have many conversation skills, it seemed.

"Yes, I'm fine." The young lord nodded, truly touched by Doran's apology. It was obvious he didn't apologize often, so it made Gunther feel a little bit special. "Thank you very much for coming to apologize, even though it wasn't all your fault." He smiled and nodded. "You should probably go to your room before Charles gets it." Gunther nodded, before gently closing the door and locking it again.

In all actuality, he was NOT fine. His overwhelming sense of dismay was still flooding through him by the second. And it was getting worse and worse as time drew on. He sunk back into his desk chair, slowly allowing his thoughts to turn back to sadness and despair.

Doran looked back up at Gunther as he spoke and felt like the young lord wasn't telling him everything. When the door closed on him, he sighed and rubbed the back of his neck, his fox ears low and tail hanging limp between his legs. Well... I'd say that went poorly. He thought with a little shake of his head.

After this morning's excitement, Doran was too restless to stay in his room. He instead went wondering through the mansion and somehow managed not to pocket anything. Gunther didn't seem all too happy... what's with him? Gunther's emotions were troubling the foxboy. He just didn't understand them. Was he supposed to do anything? He didn't know.

Eventually Doran had wandered outside and was looking around, taking in the sights, scents, and sounds. He finally settled down on a bench and sat there, haunched over with his elbows on his knees and his fingers laced together to support his chin.

Jei smiled as he looked up to her from his plate. "Well, I am glad you are enjoying it." he said, before eating a strip of bacon. "God only knows what kind of lousy food they probably fed you back in that atrocious cell." Jei commented, a slight look of frustration and anger spread across his features. That look hung there for only a moment, before Jei's expression turned back to normal. "Oh well, all of that's done and over with." Jei commented, as he finished off his bacon.

Jei looked past Iyla, and out a window that was behind her. The window gave Jei a small view of the front yard, and it's peaceful serenity. His gaze stayed there for a moment before he noticed his carriage just outside on the driveway. Oh! That reminds me. "Later on," Jei started, "Two of my friends are coming over. They'll probably be here around late afternoon, early evening. I believe they will be bringing their new acquaintances along as well." Jei stopped for a moment, in order to sip on his drink. "Anyways, they'll be staying for dinner and such. I thought it would be a good idea for us to touch base with each other, and also make it so we can meet some new people." Jei ended, as he looked up to her, patiently awaiting her reaction. Being away from groups of people for so long, he wondered how she would react.

After the telepathic message, he heard Vanity scrambling to get ready. Is she that desperate for pancakes? Or is she just trying to be one time? I dunno. Sythe thought, as he shrugged slightly. When Vanity entered the kitchen Sythe looked up from the pancakes that he had been making. "I hope you don't mind me wearing this..." Sythe smiled slightly. "Of course I don't mind you wearing that." Sythe said, before flipping one of the pancakes. He looked up to her again. "I have to say, though, that it does suit you quite nicely." Jei complimented, meaning it as a general compliment.

~*OOC*~
Ack! Sythe's part is too short-ish. *le sigh* Oh well.
