Radiant Anon Solsi When the prince left her side things became eerily calm. El's inner clockwork long since memorized the patterns in her life. Things were usually never this balanced for long. Her arm twitched ever so slightly, as if bracing herself for something that was bound to go wrong. Her eyes sharpened as she mentally took control. She glanced around. Nothing indicated disaster. There was nothing to worry about. Yet that didn't usually stop such things from breaking out at a moment's notice. Still... She shook her head a little. She resolved to enjoy the evening without anticipation. Until something went awry, she had no reason to believe it would. She watched the dancers out on the floor. They were shy, she could tell. Nervous feet unsure of what to do, yet yearning to move. She smiled a little. She spotted a passerby with an armful of pocket squares and deftly pulled her over. "Ahh..." The short blonde woman squeaked, taken by surprise. But El's grip had a touch of softness to it. "Here." She said, dropping a small wrapped box into her hand. "Take this to whoever's in charge." Jessie eyed it in confusion. "What is it?" she asked. "Call it a prize for someone. An event of the host's choosing." That was all she had to say. She released the girl back into the crowd and leaned against the wall, watching contently. While Jessie worked to find Solsi, Laney was having a blast speaking to someone also with an eye for fashion. "Let me help you with that~" she chimed, tying a neat bow around each of Mo's pigtails. "It's nice to meet both of your friends as well. And don't worry...I know a thing or two about those with a chip on their shoulder..." She kind of muttered that last part, thinking of Danny, of course. "There we are, nice and symmetrical!" She produced a hand mirror out of seemingly no where to show off her work. She was quite proud of it.
Somewhere farther off, Danny was mumbling at herself and this dumb party. She put her faith in Solsi and she couldn't have even added a pool table for her benefit. She crossed her arms, closed her eyes, and huffed. Well, it wasn't her first formal affair she had to survive. She'd get through it one way or another. Maybe she'd pick a fight with someone and cut out early... That was always an option. It was around then Jessie spotted her friend coming out of the kitchen. She waved her down and ran up to her. "Hey Solsi, someone uh, asked me to give you this." she said, handing her the neatly wrapped box. "I guess it's a prize donation, and you get to pick the contest." Solsi blinked as she took it. "Oh, wow. What great timing. Between you and me, I think people were starting to get a little sick of the pocket squares..." Jessie smiled politely, sweatdropping a little. "Well, I didn't want to say anything..." Solsi looked up at her. "What should we do?" she consulted. "Maybe a dance contest?" Jessie suggested. "Perhaps. I don't want anyone to feel on the spot..." she trailed off. "Maybe a king and queen like during prom?" She was just guessing of course, they never actually got to attend their prom. Of course they arrived all right, but the evening was cut short when someone had a scuffle with a bully... "Also on the spot." they concluded in unison. "Maybe for the snappiest dresser, and everyone can vote?" Jessie beamed warmly. "I think that's a fine idea." Solsi mirrored the look. "Well all right. Let's go spread the word!" * * * OOC: Okay, you're probably asking yourself, "Why was I quoted here? And why was everyone else quoted too?" Good question! A - I just wanted to point out that the event changed a little on the first page, you can read up on how under the 'Event Calendar' section. And B - I'm starting a few cute little event contests! The first of which is a 'Best Dressed' contest. Please PM me your nomination of who in this event so far has the cutest outfit in your opinion. You can give me your top three in order if you like, just no nominating yourself, myself, or Lucky. Once I get enough votes in I'll send our winner a prize and let you know what our next fun activity will be. ^^
Also if anyone needs someone to talk to or a dance partner, I got you covered there as well, just quote me!I'm sorry that I've been away. I had to go catch my pumpkins that turned back into mice.

"Oh yes, that's lovely~" she agreed with a nod and sigh. A sweet little smile showed on her face when Jessie got a bit shy again. "Then I did my part right. Forget technical technique-iness and just have fun~" Gigi wiggled still excited about this new ribbon prospect. "I'll do my best and show you what I managed to come up with even. Thank you~" As they moved to the refreshments, the elf was gently swinging their held hands back and forth. "Good, I always aim to please~" She looked about seeing that quite a few had decided to hit up the food and drinks too. Right by the drinks was Solsi and she bobbed in greeting. "We're back~ How's the punch?" The lady with the bells and the the girl she once recalled coming up to ask about petting some of the creatures that seemed to pop up and follow her around, were talking. Oh strawberries, best leave those to them, can't have them after all. Further on, someone she didn't recognize perusing the soups. Should he look up, she'd offer a smile and nod as she got drinks. "Punch okay?" She offered Jessie a cup turning to her. She takes a sip of her own and happens to see a certain dragon around the meat section of the table. Moving her cup down she waits till their eyes meet and mouths,"Another dance later?" Sipping some more of her drink, Gigi gives a bright eyed look. "Ready for a spin on the floor?" As she speaks she gives Solsi a gentle nudge in the arm. "Do you have a certain dance you like to do?" (Just wanted to try to include everyone at the refreshment table, sorry if I missed anyone. ^///^; )

The dragon nods his acknowledgement of Gigi's silent question as he continues to graze through the meat. Though grazing for him means he is easily packing away the majority of it into his stomach. This form might be small, but his true one isn't.

Hearing that her conversation partner was about to be snapped up to the dancefloor by the shy tall guy from before, Cid gave a small bow, both to River, and then to the mechanic with a small smile, "Sorry about before sir, sometimes I...get a little ahead of myself. I'll leave you two to your dance..." She turned to the mermaid, a bright smile spreading, "And don't worry, I won't touch your strawberries! And maybe you can help me figure out what that other fruit was!" With a wave she backed up, giving them their space, and nearly backing into the dragon munching nearby. "Ah! Sorry!....oh wait..." she snapped her fingers a bit, before looking flabbergasted, "Sorry twice over Nef! For bumping into you and well...running off. I wanted to apologize earlier but you were dancing with Lucky and...didn't want to intrude." She bowed her head in apology, her hands clasped behind her back.

The dragon glances up as someone addresses him, swallowing his last mouthful. "It's not the first time someone has run away from me, doesn't bother me much."

The Dragon Anon The dragon glances up as someone addresses him, swallowing his last mouthful. "It's not the first time someone has run away from me, doesn't bother me much." "Still it seems that I keep forgetting my manners tonight. I shouldn't have let a fear consume me like that..." It seemed like her emotions were all on edge this night. First apprehension, then the joy and relief of finding someone who could help...she had been riding on that and when the situation to dance came about it flipped her back into that scared girl she used to be. And she couldn't have that.

She doesn't want to interrupt his conversation now starting up. (Why am I now picturing his tiny dragon form just going to town on the meats because, hey he's actually bigger. emotion_omnomnom )

As the two conversed, a redhead slipped past and managed to grab the near empty meat platter between swipes of the dragon's hungry hands. It was quickly replaced by a full one before Lucky casually snagged the tiara off Nefiriam's head with her free hand, placing it back on her own head as she strode away with the empty platter. "Thank you~"

"Oh, I don't know. I can postulate fairly quickly." Her smile left her eyes but stayed fixedly on her face, "I have...ah...some experience in the area. It is not my favorite. Which you've probably already gathered. Largely the issue being that bloodlines and courts tend to forget that governments of all forms are there to serve people, not rule over them. Not that I haven't run into many other forms of government that develop a rarefied atmosphere like that, but royalty and courts tend to be particularly good at it. I've also had the firm belief that what your parents are good at in no way influences what you are good at." The smile slipped off her face and her eyes wandered down to the floor. " Especially in the arena of diplomacy and government. It's a lot of pressure to put on one person to ensure the health and happiness of an entire country of people. A ruler should be chosen by more than who their parents are." She added, quietly, like she wasn't quite talking to him anymore.

A ruler should be chosen by more than who their parents are." She added, quietly, like she wasn't quite talking to him anymore. "So I see..." the prince mused, slowing to a stop as the song came to an end. "I am truly sorry that there have been those to disenchant the royal bloodlines for you; they seem to have left quite an arrogant and professional-lacking impression of the rest of us. Unfortunately I cannot deny the existence of such courts, though it would be wrong of me to say that I do not know of kingdoms and courts who do still genuinely care about and serve the people and lands they have been entrusted with by their ancestors." He began leading her back towards the balcony where the pair had left their phantom friend. "You are right, however. Success in any field all depends on the individual, and those that thrive in their role, born into it or not, must first acknowledge that being a prince or princess, lord or lady, is first and foremost a job. It takes all our lives learning and training for that moment when we are to rule, and I have known of a few who have stepped away from the throne, with or without their parents blessings."He listened to the last part. She didn't seem to be talking to him any more, and that in itself spoke volumes. A part of him wanted to reply, but the more logical side of his brain won out and kept him quiet. He had some idea of why she might have experience, even if she was trying to keep vague. But with how open she had been about everything else, perhaps she did not want this particular part to be public. He would not speak of it, especially since he was feeling rather uncomfortable with how the conversation was going. She had come to some conclusions, for better or worse, about the workings of his own court, and had a rather bitter outlook, likely not just because of what he said, but also because of whatever situation she had witnessed to leave a bad taste in her mouth before. He could already tell that what she thought of his own court was incorrect. While he did have reasons to be angry with the council, they were not as evil as she let on. But explaining their reasoning...he had no right to speak of that to anyone. Not if he had any wish for a happy outcome. He stepped onto the balcony, leading Minty back to the Phantom. He bowed politely. "She has been returned. I forgot to ask what time she was due back. I hope I did not acquire too much of a charge?"

"Oh, but I have been a very terrible dance partner." She shook her head, as he lead them back to the balcony, "I do usually know better than to discuss politics at parties. Sometimes I can even keep my opinions to myself. I'm sure whatever difficulties your court is facing are not improved with my unsolicited two cents. Still, for what it's worth, you seem like the sort of ruler I might even voluntarily put on a throne." "Oh Phantom, even if there is a charge I think we should wave it. I am certain I have been most unsatisfactory company."

He bowed politely before chuckling at her comment about putting him on the throne. "I appreciate the vote of confidence."

Lucky paused midstride as the question was posed at her. She grinned, adjusting the crown she had just taken back from Nefiriam in the process . "I certainly wish I had enough skill to make pocket squares such as this! These are courtesy of the other hostess, Miss Solsi. I believe she ordered them from a pocket square catalog?"

His eyes narrow dangerously as Lucky steals the shiny back from him, stealthily grabbing a nearby grape and tossing it at the back of her head. "You'll learn to master yourself in time. You're still young, after all." He continues speaking as if nothing is amiss.

"You'll learn to master yourself in time. You're still young, after all." He continues speaking as if nothing is amiss. Feeling the grape bounce against the back of her head, Lucky whipped around. In a flash, she caught the grape midfall and looked directly at the innocent culprit. With a smile and lacking a second thought, she popped the juicy berry into her mouth.
