With how expertly the blow had been delivered, Mercy was part surprised and part incredibly disappointed to see the goblin still standing. Sturdy little bugger. But while her companions focused on the non-injured one, she had sworn and oath to see this creature fall, and would not case her attack until that oath was fulfilled. Thus her axe quickly swung around and slashed sidelong, aiming to strike both chest and weapon to leave an opening should her smashy companion decide to follow up on it.

Standard Action: Leading Strike, 25 vs. AC for 9 damage. Thork gains a +3 bonus to his next damage roll against G1.
Divine Distraction: Allies gain +1 damage against G1 (if for some miraculous reasons it's still alive).

Mercy would lay into the goblin with her axe, delivering a masterful slash that would leave it vulnerable to her ally! However, it seemed a little too effective, as the goblin sputtered, trying to use its own axe as a brace, but seemed incapable of holding itself up as it fell to the ground!

Thork, your next attack roll against this downed goblin will be at more damage!

Ambra, you're up! One goblin remains!

Ambra positions the Flaming Sphere behind the last remaining goblin and causes it to lash out at it with a gout of flame.

Minor Action: Sustain Flaming Sphere ( 9 fire damage to creatures that start their turn adjacent to it)

Move action: Ambra moves Flaming Sphere to Q6

Standard Action: Ambra causes the Flaming sphere to lash out on Q5
13 vs G2 REF, 15 fire damage on a hit

ROUND 7/8

17 - Mercy, 4 temp HP, 2 damage, +2 defenses from G2
14 - Ambra, 1 damage, +2 AC vs

13 - Guard 1
13 - Guard 2
11 - Goblin Priest - +6 on summoning roll.
10 - Thork, 19 damage
9 - Aelgeirr, 9 damage, +2 defenses until start of next turn

--------------------

The adventurers would continue their weird criss-cross-applesauce battle strategy, focusing on strikes that came from unintuitive directions... yet it seemed to work! Not one, not two, but all three front-liners managed to land heavy blows, bloodying one and slaying the other of the guards!

Ambra would gesture and send the ball of fiery death forward toward the goblin's position, causing it to pulsate with fire upon impacting the wall. The goblin seemed to evade the initial blast and turned to lay into Mercy. It lifted its axe upward defiantly, poised to strike the Avenger, failing to notice the continued beat of the flaming sphere, wave after wave of licking flame washing over its back! Struggling against the pain, it stepped forward to strike, but the fires immolated it where it stood, causing its body to give and its weapon to drop, before he joined it!!

All goblins defeated, and only a door stands before you. And a flaming sphere, if you're feeling lucky.

ROUND 8

17 - Mercy, 4 temp HP, 2 damage, +2 defenses from G2
14 - Ambra, 1 damage, +2 AC vs

13 - Guard 1
13 - Guard 2
11 - Goblin Priest - +6 on summoning roll.
10 - Thork, 19 damage
9 - Aelgeirr, 9 damage, +2 defenses until start of next turn

--------------------

((I was going to come to ask if someone would post; I hadn't realized one was waiting for me >_< Sorry about that, everyone))

As Thork kicks open the door with relative ease, the goblin priest would jump with a start. He stood not ten feet ahead, arms outstretched, standing over a large circle painted on the stone floor, painted in black and reds and glowing with unnatural light. "NO!" he would cry out amidst his chanting, looking anxiously to the circle and back to the party.

Thork! You still have a minor action, then everyone else may go!

OOC: Assuming Thork is waving his minor action for now.

IC: Not caring if the tiny tiefling's flameball would harm him or not, Aelgeirr would drop his spear, draw his sword, walk next to the priest and cry out, "Follow me! We've little time to put right what this runt tries to undo!" Then Aelgeirr would jab his longsword into the gobbo priest.

OOC:
Free action: Drop spear.
MInor Action: Draw sword
Move action: Move to S5
Attack Action: Use Lead the Attack on Gobbo (Long sword is being used two handed)
Results: 25
Damage: 19
Bonuses: Aelgeirr, Thork, and Mercy get +4 to hit the Gobbo priest until the end of the encounter. (Sorry about Ambra. She was too far away.)

ROUND 8/9

17 - Mercy, 4 temp HP, 2 damage, +4 to hit Priest, Total Defense
14 - Ambra, 1 damage

13 - Guard 1
13 - Guard 2
11 - Goblin Priest - Bloodied, 26 damage, +7 on summoning roll.
10 - Thork, 19 damage, +4 to hit Priest
9 - Aelgeirr, 9 damage, +4 to hit Priest

--------------------

(Sorry for the slow post rate. This time of year is generally hard for me, so let me try to get back on track... Mercy is in NPC total defense status until her player decides to start posting again.)

Aelgeirr rushes forward with the door opened, thrusting his blade forward and stabbing into the midsection of the priest! Meanwhile, a ball of flame zooms past him, though luckily it was friendly fire.

Aelgeirr, being up in this ritual's grill, you notice a crystaline sphere hovering a meter above the center of the summoning circle; however, unlike your blade and armor, light doesn't seem to be reflecting on nor illuminating this item. Being Eladrin, you sense inherent magical energy in it, and your instincts advise against touching it during the ritual.

Mercy stands guard, preparing herself for any unholy attacks the priest may unleash.

The priest winces in pain from the blow he received, but rather than try to defend himself, he keeps his hands pointed at the circle and continues a muttering chant, though fear and pain are clearly audible in his voice from those close enough, even as he is being cooked by the flaming sphere, which badly burns him!

He's not fighting back; will you strike this goblin down?!

Something about all of this seemed....off to Aelgeirr. If he could put his finger on anything, he'd call out, "Force him out of the circle before you kill him. His death inside it may hasten things!"

If nothing came to Aelgeirr's mind, he'd just say, Something's ...weird. Don't know what."

OOC:

Aelgeirr suspects that the Gobbo priest dying in the circle will cause something Not Good (tm) to happen. He is rolling against his Arcana to determine if anything may happen if the priest dies in the circle

Arcana+5+1d20= 16

(I didn't notice Rain skipped Mercy's posting.. sweatdrop )
"Why Priest want end Clearwell?"

"Thork think priest magic stupid anyway..." The orc responded to Aelgeirr's command backing up before charging into the punny goblin.

Movement: Q5
Attack: Charge; Bullrush... 18 Vs Fort no damage push Goblin Priest to U7
Ending location T6

Thork has no problem body-checking the punier goblin, forcing him to the corner by the giant ball of fiery death, and taking his spot also by the giant ball of fiery death.

Aelgeirr, you turn your attentions away from the goblin and instead start examining the scene before you. Now, you aren't an expert on unholy rituals (... are you?), but with your check result, you gauge that your initial guess of something dying within or close to the circle might have been incorrect. After all, there was an artifact here, not, like, a child or something. Wouldn't it have been easy to just sacrifice one of their own if that was necessary? Maybe?

Mercy retains a defensive posture unless her player decides to post before my next battle post. Ambra, that makes it your turn!

Ambra moves up to the room and once again causes the Flaming Sphere to lash out at the goblin summoner. "Thork, get out of their unless you want to get cooked!

Minor Action: Sustain Flaming Sphere ( 9 fire damage to creatures that start their turn adjacent to it)

Move action: Ambra moves to R5

Standard Action: Ambra causes the Flaming Sphere to lash out at the Goblin Priest 14 Vs. Ref, 16 fire damage on a hit,

ROUND 9/10

17 - Mercy, 4 temp HP, 2 damage, +4 to hit Priest, Total Defense
14 - Ambra, 1 damage

13 - Guard 1
13 - Guard 2
11 - Goblin Priest - Bloodied, 35 damage, +8 on summoning roll.
10 - Thork, Bloodied, 28 damage, +4 to hit Priest
9 - Aelgeirr, 9 damage, +4 to hit Priest

(Updated the core .psd file to have the priest bloodied; it will be reflected in the next map)

--------------------

With the goblin priest cornered, there seemed to be nowhere to go. However, despite Ambra's best attempts to watch him burn, she was unable to get a clear enough view past Thork's imposing physique to direct the sphere accurately. Normal burning would have to suffice.

The goblin priest would begin slowly pacing along the edge of the room, continuing his chant with his arms still outstretched before him. He's not fighting back, but he's not giving up on this ritual easily!

Let's see if you lot are still willing to strike down this unarmed gobbo! Everyone's up! But first, Thork pulls an Icarrus and remains too close to the sun, taking 9 damage and becomes bloodied!

Thork would quickly shift away from the burning sun orb, and attempt to grab the goblin by it's tongue and lower jaw.

"Stop magic thing or Thork rip Priest's tongue out!"

Move: Shift; S7
Standard: Grab; 20 vs Reflex

Edit: keep forgetting that +4 in my calculations
