I drew it early because I knew I was going to be busy. I explicitly stated that. I didn't do it to "bend the rules"; that's not my goal. I don't want to be mean to you guys. I just feel frustrated that generally nothing was said or posted in the beginning.
It was day 6. Someone quoted me and said something, but she didn't ask me to repost. [x]
You don't have to sway the rules for me though. You can just tack me onto the "Participating for Fun" list because I still do want to participate.

I think it either just got missed when we were updating, or wasn't updated cause it was early and then no one ever got back to it. I remember that you had posted it early, cause I cautioned you about it, but the rules hadn't specifically been updated regarding it, so I don't think it's be a problem for us to move you back to the main list, unless you just want to go into the participating for fun list.

Looks like drakokatz has taken care of this, but I just wanted to mention that I asked for you to repost simply so that the I wouldn't have to search back through 10 pages of thread to find your picture. You shouldn't take any of this personally. What really happened was 1) you got a warning for breaking a rule that wasn't well stated and 2) your art got overlooked accidentally and you got dropped off the list. Both of these things happen a lot in events like this, so don't worry too much about it. But you weren't dropped off the list BECAUSE you got a warning. A warning is just a warning. We've said before and we'll say it again: we make mistakes while updating! It's the job of each individual participant to check our work and politely bring it to our attention if we've messed something up.

I feel like the spirit of this contest is the fun, and testing yourself to draw each day... I think discouraging slightly early posts is counterproductive, making someone feel discouraged by their daily life time constraints... They may even give up the entire thing, thinking that if they are off by a few hours, it's over for them... I'd say if someone has a reasonable excuse, a 24 hour or maybe less time opening should be allowed (and only if they clearly indicate and post their submissions and reasons), because we all know how it gets sometimes, especially uploading troubles and such. That's just my opinion, but I completely understand the difficulties allowing small things here and there brings, and that you guys are all doing your best to run everything smoothly... Which, thank you for, by the way, I hadn't realized all the work you guys would have to do, uploading everything and all. heart

No don't worry, I understand. It's the same for art shops.
But thank you for answering my question(s).
And thanks for taking your time to handle this event.

Last year, Kai didn't start posting the next day's themes until day 50 (as a favor to the participants and to give herself a little leeway on the update time), so the issue of posting early never even came up! It surprised us that anyone would do it because it seemed so obvious to us (who had done the event last year) that each day's themes is for that day only... but I can see how it's confusing to someone coming in without that experience last year. We obviously have no way of proving when you DREW a picture, so you can definitely bend the rules! It just took us by surprise that we would even end up having to clarify when you can post.
We discussed allowing early submissions in the crew forum and decided against it, so I think it's best to stick with the decision made. People are ENCOURAGED to continue for fun even if they can't post every day, but I think Kai ended up passing out around 13 mil gold last year so I can see why she would want to be strict on early posting.
I hope that explains some of the thought process. 3nodding

Day: 7 Theme: Frog Medium: Digital I found a coloring tutorial that taught me a lot about primary, secondary, and complementary colors as well as lighting and shadows. I hope it shows because I put a lot of effort into those parts of this piece. sweatdrop

Awesome, glad we are all on the same page then! And on that note, Day 7 - Baroque Master copy of the portrait of Louise de Keroualle by Peter Lely http://www.getty.edu/art/gettyguide/artObjectDetails?artobj=774I'm definitely coming back to this one when we have a "finish an earlier picture" day. Sorry for the crappy photo -- this won't fit on my scanner. It's also on blue-toned paper and that didn't come through.
