And finds himself repulsed. Passura's mind magic is so strong he can't get in. All he can do is hold the child while he stares off into nothingness. Things are beginning to whirl about the room. He ducks and ulls the boy down with him as a chair sails over the bed. Frantically he struggles to get the boy's attention.

*Finally, Kero's patience wears thin, and he armors his mind with magic, slowly forcing his mind inside....beliefs be damned, this boy needed help....and tries to help again, as his physical body wraps the boy in a hug*

Suddenly he finds himself soaking wet and shivering almost uncontrollable. Passura is doing much the same and crumbling in place, no longer rigid and openly crying. Several warm blankets are tossed over them and He feels Lyssan bolstering his thoughts.
"Go to him now...." she instructs, though he can feel pain lance through her thoughts as she sends.

Lyssan acts as an anchor, holding him in place while he calls out to the boy. The craziness of outside is magnified within. He is facing a mind storm of mountainous proportions. Thoughts, real and unreal, come at him, buffeting him from all sides. Glimpses of things he did see and knew, intermingling with things drawn straight from his imagination. Children being skinned and roasted over fires. Women being used then sliced open with swords. Fires consuming all he knew and loved. Hatreds blossoming into walking real life creatures. Noise, movement, emotions running rampant... and through it all fear... fear so strong it strips him bare, leaving him naked for the world to see.

After awhile, the boy calms down, but it is an unnatural calm... like the calm that comes before a storm or the deathly chilling silence before an earthquake. And Kero feels drained to the core, but as tired as he is, he knows deep inside the boy must feel ten times worse. The worse is yet to come, of this he is sure. But for now, they both needed to rest. And until the child faced his fear and pain, Kero knows it will return.

"You need to rest as well. I'll stand the first watch. You get some sleep. But first help me get this bed dry and you two into something a bit warmer..." sends Lyssan with a heavy touch of concern. "No need saving the mind if we lose the body to a chill."

*Kero flares his power, drying the bed*
I'm staying, Ly....he needs me now....and I will be here when he awakens....if you want to help, go into my room and take the mirror-bright black stone off my desk. Bring it here, place it in my mouth, and make me swallow it. I'll be fine then.

The kitzune queen makes a snide comment about martyrdom and does what he asks, retrieving the stone and placing it between his lips. She caresses his cheek and warns him to know his limits. "I don't want to lose the boy either, Kerobian, but I don't want to lose you either." she whispers gently settling in for a long wait.
The hours drag on and still no reaction. Finally he drifts off to sleep as well, holding him in his arms, only to be startled awake by another savage psychic blast.
Lyssan jumps to her feet frantic. "Shield him, Kero. Think of the babies. Is this what you want have impressed on their minds?"

*Kero's shields are automatic, and they spring up around them both....when Lyssan places her hand on it, she finds that hand growing numb. Kero, meanwhile, is clutching Passura tight to him*

This time he fi nds he relives the event exactly the way the boy had, hiding in a stifling pile of clothing while all around him the people he knew and loved died, died so that he could live. Why... why did he have to live? Wasn't it his job to save them? Why did he, of all people have to be kept alive at all costs? Anger and anguish, so intertwined it would take an eternity to unravel their knots, knocks him low.
Kerobian gives himself a mental shake to keep from merging fully with the boy, marveling at the strength of the lad's talent.
