I'm anxious for Wednesday's episode.

At first I thought the beginning was a flashback, it seemed very retro, the guy had a recordplayer, my sis suggested it may have been Locke, but we were proved wrong at that, it was the Scottish guy who called Jack, "bro." several years before.

What I want to know is why the smoke monster-thingy makes a metalic sound. I guess it's a metalicy smoke monster....

You know, the Friday after is usually when we stop using spoiler white out for the episode that aired. And you don't have to use it at all for stuff from last season. Like the metallic sounding monster.

I'm jumping out of my skin, I'm so excited. New epi of Lost, new epi of VM! It's almost like it's my birthday! Only it's not, so no cake.

Ooh I feel special because nobody else has mentioned this yet:

"I'm letting you off the hook."
It's what Boone said when he convinced Jack to 'let him go', and with the last episode, we find that it's ALSO what Jack's wife said in the hospital when they first met. surprised Teh nifty!

So as a precake dinner, can we eat Boone's liver with some fava beans and a nice Chianti?

Sure, Zombie!Boone doesn't need a liver. wink

And here are my thoughts on this episode, stright from my livejournal.

Well, that was a completely pointless episode. We finally get another Michael one (which I thought would rock because, you know, it's *Michael*), and it's STILL somehow about Jack and Kate. Did they REALLY have to show us stuff from last week again? The recap WAS on right before the new episode. All we needed to know was that Kate was in the crawlspace. And not eaten. Dang. I did like how she stole the candy bars, though.

And NOTHING about Walt. Arg, I want to know about HIM and Vincent! Not Jack and Kate! By now I'm pretty sure that Desmond's just a crazy who landed on the island with Crazy Danielle and hence has been in hiding from the plague or whatever it was. Great, now can we move to the REAL plot that doesn't involve Man-Kate or Lady-Jack?

Even the Michael flashbacks didn't help. Duh, he loved his son. Duh, he wouldn't have been able to afford to raise him. I did think giving him a stuffed polar bear was a nice touch, though.

But they found Jin, who apparently had found his own current back to the island. And has already been innitiated ... er... I mean, captured. I bet it's not the Others and just the other people from the plane crash. Only they've gone all Lord of the Flies because they didn't have Super Doctor to keep them in line. (Lucky them.)
At least now Sun isn't going to kill Michael and Sawyer for losing her husband. XD

Anything else... did Locke know Jack was coming because he heard him yell or because he figured that Super Hero Jack would be the most likely one to follow him and Kate? Or is that more of Locke's special skills?

All in all, a disappointment. No Vincent. No Walt (Baby!Walt doesn't count). And useless repeats of characters I don't care about. The writers really need to catch on that GASP! not everyone is gung ho about Kack and Jate.

Silly Meri:

You know that, last season, I would totally jump on the "more Vincent less Kate" bandwagon, but I see improvement in Kate so far. I mean, yeah, less Jack would be great, and I do so want more of Walt, but Kate could be kind of interesting if she became Locke's second Accolyte, but we all know that that position will be taken by Charlie. Anyway, I didn't like that this was a Michael flashback, because it seemed incredibly pointless to me. It actually just kind of confused me a little, because in his first flashback, his non-wife told him that she wanted him to give up custody (and all rights) to Walt, and yet when he's told again he's all shocked? Gimme a break. I did like that closeup on Sawyer (on the raft) where it was obvious that's where they would've cut to his flashback, then had to cut back to Michael because they'd changed who the episode was about. Made me giggle.

But I'm going to stand by Kate for now. I think that, given the proper time, she could become a much greater character this season than she (or Jack) were last season. I mean, yeah, I said the same thing about Shannon (which I still believe) but in both of them I can see room for development -- and I'm 50% certain that the writers will take that path for each of those characters and make them better. As for Charlie, I can only see a 25% chance that he'll be more interesting, and what are the odds that it'll get passed "deny drugs, take drugs, love baby, lose drugs, lack of withdrawal, love for Claire". Poor Claire. She should get a restraining order.

If only to free her up for the much more awesome Hurley/Claire romance. But like that'll ever happen. I mean, Hurley is fat, and on TV fat people don't get no loving. Well, not counting sitcoms, of course.

I think that most of the characters could be better characters this season than last season. The problem isn't that. The problem is that the writers don't seem to like all the characters, and so they mess each other up. One writer doesn't like Charlie, so he has him say bitchy things at anything that breathes. But this other writer is in teh luv! with him, so he's a sweet pea to everyone! And then this other writer just wants him to GO AWAY FOR THE LOVE OF GOD and Charlie just up and vanishes for no reason. And it is SO annoying. Don't they have anyone WATCHING for stuff like that?

Seriously, the worst one for that kind of stuff is Sayid. No one has any idea what to do with him.

Guh. Well, at least Kate was kind of cool this episode. I loved the scene in the pantry, where she spies the chocolate bars and just can't help herself! WOO! That made me laugh. And it made me happy, cause I would totally do that too.

Hm, was Charlie so bitchy to Shannon because of that whole fish thing? At least partly? Because that would be awesome, too. Not in a "That's an awesome thing for someone to do." But awesome in a "Totally realistic and human thing to do."

Oh! Did anyone else just want to kill Susan's lawyer lady? Like, seriously. I think even Susan wanted to kill her, just a bit.

I wanted to cry during the Michael gives Walt a polar bear doll thing scene, but... I just couldn't. I kept trying, but all I kept thinking was, "BUT WE ALREADY KNEW ABOUT THIS!" I mean, I know it's supposed to parallel the story of Michael and Walt on the island (or in the sea around the island), but... seriously. We already more or less knew all that stuff went down. And while this is one of my hot button issues, the idea that kids are always better off with their mother and that their father should just give them up because that's what's best for them, I still couldn't manage to get upset. Oh, I got angry. But not upset, which is what they wanted.

Yeah, pretty much. sweatdrop But it was better than the recap episodes. By a tiny little margin. Well, it had new footage, anyway, even if it didn't tell us anything we didn't know.

i was wondering if maybe when the writers wrote the season premeire they were planing a 2 hour show, but the producers or ABC said "cut it in half" so they had to pad out the endding to make a second episode. rolleyes

so they ran over a lot of rehashed topics?

Huh. I never noticed that the characters would become more or less annoying or different because of who the writers were of each episode.

For me, considering how I've always latched on to my dad, I kept complaining that Michael should try harder to be at least able to *see* his son every so often. sad

Eh, Kate wasn't that bad last episode. I actually didn't mind her much. Which is an accomplishment, let me tell ya. xd
