"Not even in identical twins?" She clearly did not like how little sense this made, "Pardon my saying so, but it sounds like your council can go get stuffed. They've clearly inserted bureaucracy where it doesn't belong and are making a power grab. Because if I'm understanding you correctly, you're an only child so the only reason someone, or someones, would be turning down a candidate is because they don't feel like they could control them or benefit from them becoming a prince or princess. Which I assume also puts them in line for the throne, if they have all the privileges of a blood-born heir."

I know of fraternal twins which it went to one and not the other. Such was the case with my mother and my uncle. However, identical twins in the family are rare. The times they did appear, it was another sibling that received the gene." The prince listened as she said her piece on the council, part of him wholeheartedly agreeing with what she said. He might or might not have made the same accusation to them less than a few months before. But that had been his emotions lashing out, leaving no room for his common sense to play. It did seem like that from an outsider's point of view, but there was much more to that. He glanced towards the redhead who had found some strangers to chat to before turning his attention back to the one he was dancing with. "I was an only child only until my sister was born. The one they are searching for is to be her replacement. Though I agree, it does sound that way about the council," he spoke slowly. "But they do have their reasons for being wary of the candidate, which in all rights is justified. To be fair, they even gave the star's candidate a chance. However, there were strict conditions in their keeping the role. Some of them were rather unreasonable in my opinion, but the candidate agreed to them, and by doing their job, couldn't keep the conditions."

"Hmm." She fell silent, processing the new information, "And what do the stars think of all this? And the council-rejected candidate? Would they be willing to step in anyway if something happened to you?" Her brain caught up with her mouth and she realized what she had just said. "Not that I'm implying anything bad should happen to you, or would." She blushed, "Just...I do rely on the stars for a good many things. I would like to continue to be able to do so."

Would they be willing to step in anyway if something happened to you?" Her brain caught up with her mouth and she realized what she had just said. "Not that I'm implying anything bad should happen to you, or would." She blushed, "Just...I do rely on the stars for a good many things. I would like to continue to be able to do so." he deadpanned. "As for the candidate...I have no doubts on her ability. She tried to gracefully step down when the council cast their verdict, but the stars have recently convinced her to keep looking into the matter which caused her to lose her status in the first place." He paused when Minty blushed and tried to compose herself. Honestly, he had just taken it in stride. It was not as if the topic of his own safety had not come up recently. "I understand," he replied. "In all honesty, I cannot imagine anyone other than Lucky being my replacement as things are now."

 Jessie smiled a little. "Really? I guess we have that in common. It's really nice to live close to nature, especially in the summer when the birds and cicadas sing." Gigi commended their performance on the twirl and Jessie's eyes bolted down for a second, feeling rather shy. "Ah, thank you. It came so naturally I forgot what we were doing." Her words were almost a mumble, as if she were confiding something private. The offer of the ribbon dancer made her partner's eyes sparkle. Jessie looked up and laughed a little. "It's yours. I was never any good with it, anyway. I'm sure you'll be able to do all the fun tricks." As the song drew to a close, Gigi stepped back, bowed in her direction, and thanked her for the dance. "M-my pleasure. I had a good time." she replied with a light blush. At the mention of drinks, her expression jumped a little as if suddenly remembering. "That's a good idea. I don't think I've had anything since I got here." In all honesty the festivities might have had her a little distracted. She followed after Gigi to the refreshment table.

The only issue is telling the council to get bent would cause a massive political headache in the long term. Of course I tend to take more of a blunt instrument approach to diplomacy, it sounds like poor Lucky has gotten herself smack dab in the middle of some rather nasty intrigue of the courtly variety. Which is the worst kind, in my opinion." A wry smile crept over her face, "Thank you, I do normally try not to postulate on the possible of a horrible and inevitable demise of people I only met 20 minutes ago. Unless they really deserve it."

"Shame, I might have been able to offer assistance." The woman shrugs and turns back towards the dancers as she seemingly loses interest. She could already do quite a bit with the information she had already received.

Unless they really deserve it." There could be much worse than courtly intrigue, the prince thought, but kept his thoughts to himself. "I suppose the only thing to do is let everything run its course until matters have settled," he replied instead. The comment following made him shake his head, amused. "Were I to make that point, I believe there would be many others set to put me straight before you could have time to postulate such things." He pondered on what she said. "You have me curious though, the way you speak of the courts and royal bloodlines...Do you have some familiarity with the matter?"

She scoffs, "Thought is useless without action, girl." She pulls a cigarette from thin air and snaps her fingers, a white flame igniting and hovering over her fingers that she uses to light the cig. She takes a slow drag and holds the smoke for a moment before looking up and blowing it out into a pink ring that slowly floats up towards the ceiling. "I've never understood the short lived races fixation on that saying. It's foolish to believe such things."

Starlight Princess Lucky It was only a few short minutes before the redhead returned, presumably from the kitchen with the platters of fruit and other foods that needed to be refilled balanced with strangely practiced ease on a tray. Where the caterers had run off to? She had no idea, so she was taking matters into her own hands. She paused for just a moment as she passed by Solsi and the crimson haired woman. "Excuse me, ladies. I'm just going to borrow some of these..." she reached into the box of pocket squares and pulled out a handful, slipping them into a pocket in the folds of her dress before continuing on her way. She passed by a few of the people who she had seen come in after Solsi began striking up a conversation with the crimson haired woman. The party sure was growing! She passed by a white haired woman handing her a pocket square. "Welcome! Please have a party favor~" Then she was off to another. Lucky heard the comment from the newest arrivial and giggled. "We are not too strict on the dress code," she replied, handing the new arrival a pocket square. "Just that you receive a pocket square." She winked playfully, "According to Solsi, they're all the rage right now~" Was that true? She had no idea. With a wave, she was a off to the next person. It appeared that Nefiriam had struck up a conversation with the lovely Gigi. She was always dressed to impress, and tonight was no exception~ She smiled and bounded over. "Hi, Gigi! I'm glad you could make it~" She handed her a pocket square. "I'd give you a hug, but my hands are full right now. Have a party favor?" After a moment she excused herself again, this time off to where most of the others had congregated: the food table. It was always the food table. She paused for a second near a wall closest to the food table when she heard a cheers. She smiled, "Cheers! I hope you have a good evening! Here, a party favor~" she handed the person with fruit punch and a biscuit one of the pocket squares before hurrying off to the next crowd. Lucky slipped over near a certain blue furred friend talking with a blue haired friend....next to the blue clad friend. "Oh dear, I feel out of place in red," she joked as she approached. "I got some presents for the two of you- Arron already got his." She handed out the pocket squares. Solsi had turned the ones for guys that lacked pockets into ascots, but the redhead's hands were a little filled at the moment. She smiled. "I'll catch up with all of you later. Have fun~ And enjoy the dance floor too!""Ok...and trays...refilled!" Lucky announced, mostly to herself as she replaced the gobbled up fruit platters with ones filled and laid out in fanciful designs. She gathered up the empty ones and set them on her serving tray before slipping over to where her brother was talking. "Evening ladies. And you sir..." she stuffed the rest of about ten pocket squares into another of his pockets, leaving another filled to the brim. She smiled innocently, "...Looked like you needed a few more." With a wave of her pinky finger, Lucky was off again, this time likely to get rid of the empty trays. The prince blinked and looked down at his now second bulging pocket. He shook his head and looked towards his companions, "I believe this is my cue to begin passing out party favors." As an afterthought, he handed one to the Phantom-he didn't quite recall giving her one when she appeared. He took a bow. "If I do not get to say it later, I wish you both a wonderful evening." With that the prince turned and went to greet guests and hopefully empty some of his pockets. [[Phew! Where does that redhead get the energy???]] *curtsies* Why thank you for the cute pocket square! xd Did you buy these at some fancy shop or make them yourself?
