"Crap." Rayne reluctantly stood up and stretched his arms, though that didn't help much. As much as he would have loved to lay in the grass and rest his arms, he didn't want to sound like a whining child who didn't get his way. At least I can still walk, Rayne thought to himself as he yanked the ribbon out of his hair.

(So we get attacked, leaving the bridge broken. My character tries to make a makeshift bridge which works, and now we are waiting on Link's answer to see if we leave or not. And by the way, Midna is in my character's shadow.)

(YOM KIPPUR IS OVER! I CAN EAT AGAIN!)
Midna almost groaned, but a sharp look from Zelda silenced her. She still knew the kids were safe, and she knew Zelda did too, but obviously they were important to Link. Maybe she'd been a little hard on him...
Zelda shook her head to clear it of any dizziness. "Well, Link?" she asked. She wasn't quite sure if Link realized he had become the unspoken leader. Or maybe Midna had. She wasn't too sure.

Link twiddled a blade of grass between his fingers, zoning out almost entirely. He was dragged back to reality when he realized that the group had gone silent and seemed to be waiting for him to say something. He blushed and cleared his throat, hastily dropping the grass and straightening up. "Ahem, well, now that we are all across..." he said, nervous from all the sudden attention, "I, um, suppose we carry on." he finished lamely, fishing in his pouch for a map of some kind.
Almost his entire forearm (the bag seemed to be much larger than it looked on the outside) was rummaging around in the leather bag before he dragged out a worn piece of parchment. Holding it out so that the rest of the group could see it, he pointed to their location on the faded map. "We are here," he said, then drew a line with the tip of his finger towards Kakariko village, "and we need to end up here. It should take the remainder of the day, at the least, since we are all on foot." he mused, trying to make eye contact with his peers. "Does that sound alright?"

Midna yawned, as if the whole thing were a bore. "I don't care, as long as we get a Fused Shadow at some point. That's all I need your help with. I do have a question, though." She looked Link directly in the eye. "You really that eager to leap into the Twilight again?"
Zelda blinked. She hadn't thought of that quite yet. She'd almost forgotten that Kakariko Village was submerged in Twilight, which meant more gathering of the beetles. Joy.

Link raised an eyebrow at Midna. "We both have things of value in that village. What would you say if I asked you the same question?" he asked cooly. "You seem as interested in the safety of the Fused Shadows as I am of my friends. I am perfectly willing to forgo a human body if it means that they are safe." he replied, starting to walk down the gully and towards Hyrule Field.

Midna shrugged. "Me? I'd love to go back into the Twilight. It's not everyday I get to keep my actual form." I oughta milk this a little longer, she thought, grinning toothily. "Anyway, good luck getting into the Twilight without my help."
Zelda covered her eyes. "I knew this would come full circle... Midna, just help him, will you?" She knew as well as Midna that a Twilight creature had to bring you into Twilight- you couldn't just walk in. She had hoped Midna would be calmer by then, but...

Link waved a hand dismissively. "Good luck getting the Fused Shadow without my help." he retorted casually, continuing to meander down the dirt path. It was a good thing that Midna was behind him, because he was sweating bullets just trying to keep a calm voice. "Last I checked, you said you needed me to fetch them for you."

"Last I checked, you need a Twilight being to get into the Twilight," Midna replied. "Don't forget I'm emphatic." She hopped from shadow to shadow, until she was back in Link's. She was bored. Time to ruffle some feathers. "So what's with the skirt?"
"Midna..." Zelda groaned. She picked up the pace and fell into step with Link. "She's not usually this mean."

Link gritted his teeth as Midna proceeded to brush his fur the wrong way. "I don't know, Midna, but at least I wear more clothes than a stone helmet." he replied, digging his nails into the skin of his palms in an effort to maintain a level head and a civil tongue. He grinned (or perhaps grimaced) at the princess as she fell in step with him. "No doubt she is tired of jumping from shadow to shadow all the time. When I was a little kid, I was just as irritated when I was tired." he said pointedly, making his voice purposefully louder so Midna was sure to hear him. She wanted a fight? She would soon find out that swords were not the only weapon Link had in his arsenal.

"She's not a little kid," Zelda replied. "She'll act like one, sure, but she just wants what's best for the Twilight Realm. In this case, it's retrieving the Fused Shadows. She's really nice when she's not trying to intentionally piss you off," she said clearly.
"I can hear you, but I guess you know that," Midna said calmly. She didn't really care what Link thought of her; as soon as she retrieved the remaining Fused Shadows, all she had to do was combine them into one suit and blast Zant back to the Twilight Realm. Then again, there was that stupid pig to deal with... Meh. Not her problem. "And trust me, green boy, if I really wanted you dead, you'd be dead."

Link sighed and shrugged. "I was scared of shadows when I was four. Not so much these days." he retorted, stuffing his hands in his pockets as he kicked a pebble down the path. "If you really want to save your world, I say we make a truce. A verbal one, at least. If we're in this as a group, might as well help each other." he added thoughtfully, staring up at the dappled light seeping through the canopy. He dreamily looked over his shoulder, and decided to wait for the rest of the group to catch up. "Hmmm.....anyway, we should probably wait for them..." Link murmured sleepily, feeling the gentle familiarity of the forest confort him.
