Shar shrugs. "That cub has managed to finagle his way into the hearts of those who dwell in this village. Aye, Master Talesian has had the bulk of his rearing, but we've all come to see him as a part of us. This is a small village, at it's heart... regardless of the fact that it is a tourist trap in the warmer months. They've come to love him and see him a one of their own... even more so that Talesian... oh they are fond of the bard and they honor him... but the cub they love. And the cub is but an illusion. A day will come and he will no longer be that cub they know and love. He may remember them, aye... he may even care for them to some extent... but in light of all the other lives he's lived... he simply won't be the same."

Tam smiles thinly. "Becoming... no... but ye need to remember I did not know him all that long err he chose me to be his guardian. Though in truth, I knew he was my charge from our first encounter on my mother's ship. A guardian always knows. We don't always know the name and location of the one we are to protect and guide, but once we've met them, it becomes crystalline clear. Still I will say he was more analytical then he is now... and less apt to trust anyone but himself."

Shar shrugs. "I know that this might be something none of ye want to talk about, but humor me if you will, both of ye have lived long long lives... How do ye stand it... watching those ye've become close to age and die while ye live on young and virile still."

Tam nods. "It is a thing of sorrow for me. But I've learned not to set down roots. My life as a bard keeps me moving, gives me purpose. And... as I am a guardian, I am often called to uproot whatever life I've begun and start another anew... somewhere else. Rarely have I stayed in one place as long as I have here."

Shar sighs. "Then I feel fer ye both..."

Tam laughs softly and shakes his head. "Don't... Shar, I am what I've always been, what I was always meant to be. And I do have people I can love, people very much like myself... as does Hope... and oddly enough a certain cantankerous void mage... we all have people we can bond with... it just may take us longer find them."

Shar blinks and shakes her head in confusion. "He's married and yet he goes away for how many years... twenty... twenty five.. whatever... how does she deal with it? And what if as he is now, he comes to love another... Mica told me his memories as the elder are blocked... it could happen ye know."

Shar sighs. "Ye know... this kind of reminds me of an old saying... 'the best laid plans of mice and men...' I pray nothing ever goes wrong with it, cause when it does, all hell is going to break loose."

She examine the splint once more and decides for now to simply let it be. Have Kero check it again... at least once a day. Tell him it is his assignment for now. He needs to work with his inner eye anyway, to strengthen it. Come see me if things begin to hurt more than usual... and no, itching is not pain so don't even bother... or Kero sees something wrong.... okay?"

Tam nods and walks her to the door. "Thanks for coming down, Dawnmistress."

Shar smiles thinly at him. "No problem, really. It's been quiet up at the temple and I'm learning a lot. It's just that I can't write anything about it or people would think I was crazy."

Shar rolls her eyes and laughs. "Have you been hanging around with Master Mica? That sounds exactly like something he would say." She goes to the kitchen and washes her hands coming back into the room with a sigh. "I keep asking Kero if he cold put one of those fountains in the clinic.. or at least the green house, but he says that it wold be too far away from it's water source for it to do much good. Well I'm off. I warn ye, Master Talesian... take care with how ye treat those wings or ye won't be flying at all, ye hear?"

Tam gives her a sullen nod and walks her to the door. "Thanks, Shar. And this time, it wasn't my fault. Can I help it that Kero chose my head to port to?"
