It's either that...or he really hates the taste of moonstone....which he does, by the way....you know, you're not the first person who has refused to use physical punishment on him, either...he was taken in by Rhea's parents, who don't use it at all...

"Actually, I've met many parents who don't believe in it... but only a few who seem to have developed a way to properly address the child's mis-behaviors. I'm not saying I'm right... only that I've tried to base my parenting on those who seem to work best."

Well, remember, Quetwinos are psychic creatures....the only reason Rhea does is Kero used it on her when she was younger...he only developed his mastery of his empathy recently, at least in his lifespan...most quetwinos punish the way Kero smacks us sometimes...major mental blow...basically a mental slap upside the head...and most used it on Kero because it appeared to be what worked...he's...different this time, Tam....I don't know why....usually, until he gets about eight or so, he was always causing trouble...much like before he warped...and spanking was the only way to deal with it...trust me, when I raised him, I tried everything....I hate spanking that cub....for two very good reasons...one, I don't really believe in it...never have...which, considering what happened to me when I was a cub, is no suprise....but also...whatever I do to him...guess what....

"Well, I can't say I'm perfect... I have made my share of blunders with him, trust me on that. But I've learned that if I own up to my own mistakes, he can be very understanding. I guess... what I'm trying to say here is I have refused to be labeled the parental god... so to speak. Some parents like their pedestals a bit too much for my liking."

Tam laughs softly and shakes his head. "Oh... I bet you've met a few... those are the parents who believe that their word is law.... with capital letters... LAW... and that the child has no say in the matter what so ever. They often times micromanage the child's life, reliving their own childhood through their offspring."

No...Kero never had a parent like that...not even his real parents were like that...even Jor admits his mistakes...any parent who tried that with him would be in for a hellish twenty years...you know him as well as I do now...how do you think he'd react if you told him "You do as I say, because I say it. You are a child, and cannot hope to understand what I do, or why I do it. You listen to me, not the other way around?"
**I pity the person who tells any of my family that....even as kids, those who took that attitude regularly got themselves made fools of...a certain teacher denying negative numbers comes to mind...she took that attitude quite often**

Tam flashed him a wry smile and shakes his head. "Kero's too smart for that kind of parenting. Even as a tiny cub you had to meet him half way or it wouldn't make sense. I think I got through to him by explaining why I did things, not by simply doing them... and more assuredly by not saying because I said so.... I knew he was smart and treated him as such. I had to tailor my answers a bit in the beginning... but no longer. I simply tell him how I feel and why I feel the way I do... and iffin he doesn't agree, he's given a chance to explain why... " he looks down at his carving and sighs. "That last part is the hardest part of parenting though... listening without pre-judging."
