Garath backed away to give Nina some space. He was glad theb others were alive and safe as well. Now they just needed to wait out this group of zombies. When he heard he mention the sign on the room he blushed. He had completely forgotten that. But it seemed every one else had as well so it wasn't that bad. Speaking of stuff like that reminded him that he still hadn't put the stapels onto teh barbed wire to completely anchor it. He slapped his forehead. He had been destracted by dinner and thus hadn't done anything about it. Now there was a hoard of zombies nearby. He grabbed the bad of staples from where he left ehm. "Be right back." He said this queitly not wanting to interupt her while she was talking to her friend. He ran downt he stairs to teh first window. He then realised that it would be stupid to start hammering them in now. He would wait and see if any zombies noticed them first before he hammered the staples in. In the mean time he drew the curtains.

Nikita's eyes widened as he realized all the ways Eri could have interpreted what he said. Her lips on Nikita's neck sent chills down his spine. "Um...Yeah, kid." He said. Her question had caught him off guard, and he didn't know how to reply. He knew he had to watch what he said when it came to Eri. It was probably better to lie than to make her feel worse. Besides, she doesn't have much time to live. Might as well let her enjoy it as much as she can. Nikita stopped walking, the pharmacy just a few meters away from them. He stood in a squat to let Eri stand on the ground, then turned to face her. "Listen, I care for you," He said smiling, "as much as I could care for someone I just met a few hours ago. So let's say that makes us a bit better than buddies. Alright? Anything more, and I'll be arrested for *****." He said, chuckling loudly. Grabbing Eri's hand, he began walking towards the pharmacy. "Come on, kid. Let's try to get you better."

The lights to the pharmacy were all off, excluding one in the back, but it didn't provide much light. All he could see were the silhouettes of rows and the back counter. Nikita couldn't tell if there was any movement inside, and he took this as a good sign. He could hear the sound of moans and footsteps since he left the store, but he seldomly came across anything. Safer to be inside than out here. He thought as he reached for the door. As he suspected, it was locked. He shattered the lower glass panel of the door and made an entrance small enough for Eri to crawl through. He was positive that a zombie heard him break the glass, so he turned to Eri and spoke quickly. "You wanna do me a favor? Wanna crawl through and unlock this door for me?"

She realized their age difference once he responded to her. "ahh...um..I don't really m-mind..I mean I..." Her words were jumbled in a flustered attempt to tell him that what she said didn't really matter. "I meant..... I feel like you're a big brother to me..!" She blushed, knowing he knew she was lying through her teeth, then she felt him grab her hand. 'Ok...now this is gonna be difficult....'

She was frightened from the darkness, and snapped out of her terrified daze when she heard his question. "uhh.. Y-yeah... sure...." She went through the hole, grazing her shin, but she got up and unlocked the door, opening it and sighing in exhaustion. "I get tired so much more easil--" She saw a zombie behind Nikita and without thinking, pushed Nikita out of the way and tackled the zombie, grabbing her knife and stabbing it's head. She saw the blood and an intense bloodlust came over her, her mind eventually convincing her body not to give Nikita a good reason to shoot her. She got up and put her knife away. "Umm..." She turned, sweat pouring down her face in an attempt to stop the virus. "L-L-Let's go....." She smiled softly and grabbed his hand, hers shaking in physical exhaustion, and terror. 'If we don't hurry.. I'll..' She looked at Nikita's wrist, imagining the blood rushing through it. "....." She turned her head away. 'I'll lose it....'

Mizuki gasped as if surfacing from a deep water dive. His eyes were clouded, his pupils so large that they consumed his entire isis creating an island of black. Blood swam in the whites of his eyes, turning them red and inflamed. They seared with pain as the cold air bit against them, dried them out. He rolled lathargically onto his side, clasping his eyes in his hands and blinking profusefuly, the salty liquid that leaked from them stinging bitterly.

Mizuki's body was begining to come out of a state of exhaustion. On his run he had entered such a state of panic that his body had gone haywire. His cirulatory system was overloaded with adrenaline, noradrenaline and corticosteroids. All bodily functions that were not immediately linked to means of escape were shut down. Upon reaching safety his body had finally crumpled under the pressure.
Cocosteroids had already begun to deal damage, shrinking his thymas gland and causing him to enter a stage of premature immunosupression. The virius, encoded in his DNA, had read the warning signals. Knowing that it's host, its being, was entering a state of exhaustion in which it would be open to anything from simple bacteria to a stroke from the adrenaline enduced increased heart rate and blood pressure- it had simple shut down all systems except those vital enough to keep him alive.
In this almost comatose state, his parasympathetic subdivision was given the chance to reverse the effects of his alarm. His body had gradually entered a state of relaxtion and of relative normality.
There he had slept almost, open eyed, recovering bit by bit. The moment his new, improved instincts had deemed him ready to continue he had been jerked awake by a sudden sense of impending danger.

He breathed in deep lungfuls of night air that caught and stung his dry throat, causing his whole body to be racked with hacking coughs. He shivered terribly as sudden cold bit into every inch of him from being laid out, motionless, in the open cold for so long. But other than feeling like the back end of an all night bender and a pitcher of tequilla, he felt relatively restored. However, Mizuki's thought's were not all together clear just yet. They came to him muddled and fuzzy. The only real thought that came to him clear as day was the compulsion to feed. His stomach twisted itself into aggravated knots and caused his limbs to shudder and threatened the back of his dry throat with the presence of bile.
He pulled himself into a sitting posistion, where he rocked for a while, unconciously building up body heat and forcing blood to flow back into his extremeities. Picking himself up, he only just remembered to grab his things when he nearly tripped over them.
Looking down at the shadows by his feet he took a few moments to register them. Drugged up on natural chemicals and relaxants still, he was sloppy in gathering his things together, but still managed to place his backpack and mask back on, even his his mask was slightly wonky. The goggles, though snapped, were still hanging from one ear - the remaining strap tangled with his hair and fused to his skin with a mixture of sweat and blood.
He began down the ladder, his limbs dull and heavy. The pins and needles in his fingers and lower legs was so extreme from the previous lack of blood flow that they felt distant and he had trouble using them. In this confused and numbed state it was inevitable that Mizuki would fall from the ladder. And he did.
Mizuki had hit the floor before he even registered vaguely that he had fallen two stories. He landed squarely on his back back, absorbing most of the shock from the fall - his virus enhanced body taking the rest of the physical brunt of the impact as if it were a minor spill. Still, Mizuki lay, staring at the stars for a few more minutes, confused and vacant about what had just happened, his head throbbing slightly from the impact and a dull ache begining in his legs which had struck the concrete seconds after his backpack had. In his backpack, one of the spare pairs of goggles had shattered after being caught directly beneath him.
He moaned softly as more feeling began to come back to his limbs - none of this good and rolled onto his hands and knees, picking himself up in a jerky, wooden manner one might expect to see from a puppet - suddenly jerked to life on strings.
Slowly, steadily, coherent thought was begining to flood back after his near psychological and psyiological breakdown.
Kalila. . . Nicholas. . .Food store.
His eye twitched a little in the corner and his jaw set firm.
Fooooooooooooood
His stomach flipped, tensing and twitching as if to desperately get some attention.
Mizuki hobbled forwards. Though he couldn't feel it through the fog just yet, his ankle had taken a bashing from connecting with the floor at an odd angle. It wasn't broken, but bruised significantly. However, it was nothing a couple of hours healing would not fix.
Reaching the corner he spotted two people enter a building. He didn't know at the time that this building was indeed a pharmacy, nor did he know the identity of these people. All he registered was that there was a short female and a slightly taller male. He instantly linked this obscure image to Kalila and Nicholas, becoming for a moment, convinced that those two were his friends.

As he neared the door, he became aware of the stench of death. Looking down he saw a corpse, stabbed through the head. The scents that were coming off of it told him that it was another infected. He passed it by without a second glance. He entered the Pharmacy silently, but accidentally knocked the door too on his way past. It swung and clicked shut, the sound echoing loudly in the tense silence around them.
Mizuki leaned against it for support and stared at the two forms before him, which had spun to face him as the door clicked shut.
Mizuki looked a state, ( as he often did these days XP)
The goggles hung limply from one side of his face, the other side of his face coated with the dark rusty colour of dried blood from two dark gore marks by his temple. Beneath his wonky mask, the little bit of chin that was visible and the front of his neck were slicked with the same dark blood. His eyes were wide and glazed, his pupils large and the whites swimming with blood. His hair stuck up all over the place and his skin was a sickly grey in colour.
His left shoe was soaked in blood from long gouges in his calf that were hidden by the trouser leg. He shuddered where he stood with rasping breaths. As his eyes came to focus on the two humans before him, though the light was bad, he saw that they were not the two people he had been expecting.
He opened his mouth but all that left him was a short, dry rattle, a frown crossing his forehead.
"Wh-Who?" He spoke this time, his mind becoming less furry as he forced himself to concentrate.
And all the while, in the back of his mind, he was aware of the stench of the infected. A stench that stood right before him, in the form of a small girl.

((But... I've posted! You guys are the one stuck down stairs ;_;! Anyways, I'll post anyhow. I've been really really REALLY busy with school work... I still am... But I'll post anyways...
Oh, Metzli, that information is very interesting ^_^... The psychology, I mean. Have fun at the concert as wel ^.^))

Nina got the message as soon as Garath picked up the staples. Que!? The job wasn't finish? Wait... Do we need to put up the barbed wire...? We have oil to burn them from even reaching the house... It'll burn out, sure, but they can't know people are in here unless we expose ourselves to one of their strong senses...
"Wait a minute Garath... I'm sorry." Nina piped up running after him. She looked at the completely blockaded window he had exposed by pulling the curtains. "I'm not going to let you undo my barricades..." She said eyeing the window. Like the rest of the windows in the house, this window had wood planks nailed over it... About two think layers worth. She felt bad for having to boss everyone around, but she truely believed she knew what was best to do in these situation. No one's contemplated this as much as I have... "We have other things that'll keep the zombies back... We'll be fine for now." I hope... She drew the curtains shut again. "But I think we need to do two things... To make sure no light slips out of this house we need all the curtains to be shut. You know how there is sometimes little cracks in wood planks were light can get through? In between pieces and holes in pieces? Well... Since their eye sight is bad, they'll be drawn to light a lot." She said trying to ignore the moaning sounds that got louder. "Plus... The noise of a stable gun going off will completely traw them in... They have sensitive ears..." She whispered the last pat to emphasis her point.
"I would turn the lights off... The same thing might be achieved... But... Shadows might be seen in the house moving around, I need the T.V. on for the news and that gives off unsteady moving light, and that will definately draw attention." She said making sure there was no gap or exposed area between or around the curtains. "The other thing is... I think we should all move upstaris. We should stay only in my room and the weapons room. That way we're all together to defend ourselves, we have weapons, we have the advantage of higher ground, we have control of all our traps, and..." She paused to think if she was forgeting something. "We have the only escape route near us when it needs to be used..." It was true. Nina had barricaded everything point possible to get in or out of... Except her window. She was beginning to get a little edgey. I'm about to have a face off with my worst nightmare.... she thought with a mental pout.

She looked over from near the stairs toward the Living room. Reshion was attempting to wake Crimson and Crimson couldn't wake up. Thomas was also in the living room. He sat silently and watched the muted television. She gave Garath one more look to make sure he didn't do anything against her will and to beg him to do what she asked. She turned from him and went to the two.
"This area is too exposed." Nina said bluntly to Reshion. "If you would please... Pick Crimson up and bring her to my room upstairs." She said turning off the T.V. and turned off the lights downstairs. "Come on guys..." She said motioniong everyone upstairs. "And Thomas... I'm serious. Get another weapon." She said quickly over he shoulder to the young man.

Reshion looked at Nina with a serious look on his face and nodded. He tucked the pistol in the waistline of his pants and slid his left hand under the breaks of Crimson's legs, then with his right hand, her slid it under her neck, and silently but swiftly picked her up in one sweep. He carefulle trudged over to the stairs where Nina was and walked, hoping to both not wake Crimson up and make too much noise.
Come on Ren, let's do this. He thought to himself, making it to the top of the stairs.
"Nina, I'm going to lay her in your room, and I'll stay with her until you need me." He whispered, walking down the dark hall.
Finding Nina's room, he laid her on the bed and took the pistol out of his pants, then sat on the bed, facing the door. He'd hoped that Crimson was having some type of sleep.
Reshion, however couldn't even think straight. Sighing, he leaned foward on the bed, staring into space, halfway alert.

Crimson sighed, her breath slow and steady. Involuntarily she lifted her hand, brushing against Reshion's.

In her slumber, the past and present haunted her subconciousness, dead faces moaning her name. Although it seems clique, Crimson's bitterness rose, her fist clenching.

Why am I the one to feel guilty?
