Arron came back with a large tray. It contained a raw steak that he had originally been saving for a special occasion, but figured that the lion would be better off with it than him. He had made his friend a regular sandwich with meats & other dressings that the young man could put on himself. There was also a pitcher of lemonade, a small pill bottle & a large bowl of water on the tray. "I-I got you some aspirin for the pain..." he said carrying the tray & setting it in front of the pair. He sat down himself not far away from the lion.

"Ah, thank you very much Arron." the slave bowed his head, then set down the water and steak for Atticus, smiling when his lion friend started to dig in. He noticed that Atticus appeared to have been eating well despite him not being present, but he figured it was likely because his friend had always been an excellent hunter. Talbot gratefully took the food he'd been given for himself and took a few aspirins as well. He paused in eating when he saw Arron nearby.
"Aren't... you going to eat anything?" he asked, worried his friend had given up his own food for their sakes.

"I-I'm not hungry right now." said the mechanic with a smile. He was telling the truth, because he had eaten while fixing his friend food. He was more than happy to share his food.

"If... you say so..." the slave responded, unsure. He continued to eat his sandwich, enjoying it. However happy he was at that point in time, he was still a little on edge. He was aware that his Mistress could appear at any moment and cause all sorts of havoc, so he continuously looked in all directions to be sure she wasn't nearby.

The young man frowned."I-I ate inside," he explained, "...She w-won't find us Talbot. I-I promise." Arron was also worried about the mistress appearing.

"If she does... I don't want you to fight her." Talbot said seriously. He frowned and his eyes were stern, yet somehow soft.
"You're important to me. I'd prefer to be locked away forever than for you to lose your life. Even if I have to suffer because of it, I'd only suffer for a short time. Compared to living with the knowledge that I was the reason for a friend's death, that's nothing."

Atticus growled, not liking the conversation that he was hearing. Anything that meant his friend's suffering was not something he would stand by and allow. The mighty lion sat up, on guard.

Arron looked down. He still wanted to help his friend face the mistress. "...& if sh-she went after me..?" he asked.

"I... have something she wants. If I told her I would give it to her in exchange for your safety, I'm certain she'd agree." Talbot said, somewhat darkly. It was clear that whatever it was he could give, it was not something he was willing to part with under normal circumstances.
"But if that comes to pass, Atticus... I'd like for you to go home without me. I know you likely don't want to leave my side now that you've found me after so many years, but it would be for the best."

Atticus growled lowly again, almost shaking his head in disagreement. His tail lay still behind him, and he dug his claws into the ground.

The mechanic blinked, only to wring his hands. "No y-you will not." he said, "Next t-time we meet her, she's g-going down." There was a slight fire in the young man's eyes. He was ready to fight if needed.

"But Arron, she can't die. There's no way we can defeat her. If she finds us after being covered in crystal we'll know we can't confine her either. And... I'm almost certain she'll kill me now that we've caused her so much trouble. She'll kill me just to spite you..." Talbot explained. His voice has become shaky, and he was clearly starting to panic once he'd voiced his concerns. He truly did not want to die, but he was treating the situation as if it had become a certainty.

With both of his large paws, Atticus pulled Talbot back and pinned him against his chest as if in an effort to calm him down like he would a frightened lion cub.

(TC? ^^;;; )

"She w-won't. I-I promise." he said quietly. The young man could see the gears in the mechanic's head hard at work. He had an idea, but not sure if it could work. "Let's w-work on your memory for now... b-but let's call it a-a day to rest, we-we've both been very busy." he said with a smile.

Atticus grunted and curled around the slave again at the mention of rest, as if prepared to sleep like that with his friend protectively placed between his paws.

Talbot wanted to object and continue arguing against Arron's promises, but he couldn't say much under the fluffy fur of Atticus's enormous limbs. He heaved a sigh instead.

Arron could not help but chuckle at the lion & his owner. "L-Looks like Atticus agrees..." he said, "...Wh-What does she want from y-you T-Talbot?" The words had confused the young man.

The slave adjusted himself so that he was able to breathe and speak easier beneath Atticus before replying.
"It's true that she's claimed my life as her own, and that she's won my obedience through fear and intimidation..." he said quietly, with regret in his voice from his own expression of weakness, "but I've never submitted myself to her. I have never agreed to being her slave, and therefore, she does not entirely own me. What I could offer for your safety is my promise to become her loyal slave for the rest of my life. That way, she'd never have to fear that I'd try escaping or betraying her..."

The expression in response to his friends words was anger. "...So... y-you're willing to... to th-throw away all th-the hard work th-that was p-put into f-finding y-your memory, & y-your life f-for my sake..? T-Talbot... Y-You're my friend. I-I was the one wh-who got himself in-involved into h-helping you. I d-don't want y-you to th-think that you owe me, or th-that you n-need to tr-try & save me." he said sternly. Arron did not want Talbot to sacrifice himself.
