Miyako is able to close her eyes as the little girl approaches. She is too frozen in fear to move, too bewildered to get help, all she can do is hope that this nightmare would end.
After an eternity of waiting, Miyako would eventually open her eyes to see the girl face to face with her, the blackness of her eyes consuming Miyako's world until everything became dark.
Shosuro Miyako, you are no longer allowed to post in this thread.

The next morning...
Denbe, Kagae, Masuyo, and elsewhere, Kojiro! You wake up, some of you possibly sooner than others! If you feel like getting an early start, I require a TN 10 Perception/Meditation roll, if it's that important to you.
Miyako is not with you. Her traveling pack is here, but her weapons are not.

The Scorpion awoke at what seemed to be the crack of dawn and scampered out of the hut where he had spent the night. Kojiro had made a bee line back to the shrine where the others were. "Heh. Last time I go out to gather wood. I've found things though... Kojiro said as he dropped Asako-sama's traveling pack. ".....where's Shosuro-san?"

Up early, the Hare was ready to go.
Unfortunately, Miyako was not. Stirring nervously, and checking about- as if hoping to notice she'd snuck just outside to relieve herself or for some air, or something, he grew more and more nervous as he waited and watch, first as the others rose, looking around. The Hare was ready to jump out of his skin, when he sighed relief to the other Scorpion returning and--
"She's not with you!?"
Great. First they'd lost one Scorpion, then the other. The Hare had meant to check up on other things, and should have asked the Scorpion about what he'd found, but instead he immediately went to look around the area for signs of her. If they had to track her down across the town he would, but...

".....No! I just got back!" The Scorpion was duly alarmed by this revelation. "Her father will kill us if anything happens to her!" Kojiro began frantically looking around for clues of a path that his fellow clanswoman may have taken.

Denbe winced- he wasn't familiar with Miyako's father, but the last thing he needed as an angry Scorpion. Or many angry Scorpions. The Crab and Dragon might have been safe from being saddled with blame if a Scorpion was harmed on a dangerous mission, not directly by cause of their actions, but Denbe would only be afforded such aid in so far as his employment by the magistrates protected him. His family members, not so at all.
Making sure he had his weapons and things, the Hare quickly went to follow after Kojiro, letting the yojimbo do the tracking while he kept quietly behind in case anything went bad.

Kojiro would indeed wait for Masuyo...and pick Shusui-sama's pack back up. The Scorpion didn't care to have it unattended for long periods of time.

As Masuyo pleaded with the air kami for clarification, it seemed to weaken as it remained inside the structure. "He was just killed? That was awful! Not very nice at all! Why would they do that? I just blew in with the storm, but let me see if I can find out!"
The air kami would zip out, and after enough time to make Masuyo think it wasn't coming back...
"Okay! Hello! I sensed around... before you people showed up, the people who did this came and left. No one knows anything about them. Before that, the person you found was here. No humans were here before that for a long time."
It seemed moderately distracted, almost impatient, due to the length of time this was keeping it out of the storm. But it still waited, however.

Kojiro, you begin looking around for possible signs of your clansmate. You see someone leaving the shrine everyone would have slept in, but you focus too much on being thorough, that you remain "stuck" on the set of prints leaving the shrine, focusing your search in an area that reveals no answers. At the rate you're going, you might get to her eventually, but you realize that your methods are simply taking too long.
Masuyo, Fubuki found a pheasant! It didn't look too thoroughly stressed, as if it had already been killed or something. You may or may not be sure where he found a dead pheasant simply lying around.

The Scorpion nearly let out a cry of rage as he was trying to interpret the tracks before him. They just seemed to fizzle out now and again. He wasn't sure if they were Miya's or someone else's or something else's. It was frustrating in the extreme. Here he was and he couldn't make headway towards finding Miyako. He hated the thought that he'd be forced to ask Denbe again for help. His honor was worth more than his pride.
Besides, he didn't know what would happen if he lost Miya-chan. Kojiro enjoyed being around her greatly. She was dear to him ....although now Kojiro might mark Miya-chan more closer to his sister than to Rin on the scale of his affections. Kojiro was learning the hard way that he *might* not want to chase after his fellow clanswomen so much. It rarely turned out well for him.
"Hey, Ujina-san! Do you want to look at these tracks? I can't really make heads or tails of them. They just seem....off." It may be wise to use everything at hand to find Miyako. If only for their own sake. Kojiro didn't want to imagine the great amount of cash used to make Miya-chan happy going out instead to find revenge for her.

"If the tracks seem to lead this way, we start going that way," Denbe said, beginning in the direction they'd headed. "And keep our eyes open for the next sign of her passing."
The Hare couldn't imagine they'd be hard to find- with the storm, there were bound to be trails of mud or imprinted shakes of feet where she'd passed, but when there was a lack of those he'd keep his eyes open for any other. Rather than searching for subtle clues in any one area, he was looking for any foot prints, bit of clothing, or signs of a living being recently passing- which should look quite a bit different from the only disturbing the rest of the city had seen of late, the storm.
It wasn't too much different though. He just happened to be searching a long, ongoing area for blatant things as he walked, rather than stopping to scour any one area.

Masuyo noticed the helpful little Kami's growing impatience. With a smile and a hearty thank-you, she imparted upon it the best secret she knew. Or at least the best one she thought a Kami might be interested in.

The little Dragon followed along, quite useless when it came to tracking but trusting that the trained Bushi that had navigated them this far were less so. A small glance down at her trailing companion, however, made her wish she hadn't even looked. She could make a small guess as to where the little vulpine picked up such a convenient meal, but it was too late to stop it now. Maybe the Kaiu wouldn't notice? Kami knew he had spoken to her little enough this trip...

The air kami seems a bit put off by the "secret" that wasn't particularly thrilling, or possibly even secret. It would leave in a huff, and probably leaving Masuyo with the impression that she could and should have done better. But what's done is done, and segues into the past are taking up time, so...

Kagae, you are suffering from going without food! You suffer no TN penalties yet, but you cannot recover spent void points currently.
Kojiro, Denbe, and Masuyo begin to scour the area looking for her, with the Hare in the lead. Denbe keeps his eyes peeled as he walks in the general direction she went, but soon finds a rather disturbing LACK of footprints. Either they're going in the wrong direction, or someone must have disguised them.
The city seems a bit... well, serene right now though, with a rainbow in the sky and droplets of water glistening the morning light everywhere. Though, as he turned one corner, he would find himself standing face to face with the gaping doorway into the castle proper - no light penetrated within, and an inky black void beckoned silently.

Kojiro smiled slightly at the rainbow and the peacefulness of the general surroundings. The thought of Shisui-sama's murder and Miyako's disappearance in such a setting did put a damper on his mood. Still, he was moved to make a haiku by the sight and he attempted one.
"A thicket for boars
cold, abandoned and gray
What hides in their hearth?"
The Scorpion pointed to the castle. "I guess there's only one place left to search for Shosuro-san.....and whoever murdered Asako-sama.
