*Kero nods*
Let him do this, Talesian....he needs some time alone. Spend your time more profitiably...sing a song for Mara, Argeeis, and Passura.

Tam starts to argue. "But he's out there.. all alone..." then he sighs and laughs softly at hiself. "No... you're right... all of you. I keep forgetting. He's been alone for so long. He finds his way to the truth in his own time... alone... he finds it hard to speak from the heart... whereas I need to bounce things off everyone else's heads." He looks down at the dark haired baby in his arms and smiles. "So what would you like to hear, Passura? A funny song or a happy one?"
The boy's eyes glow with an inner light. "You will make rhythms with words?" he asks eagerly.
Tam nods with a grin.
He thinks for a bit then requests a funny happy song, which makes everyone laugh.
Tam sings about the farmer and his donkey and how he ends up carrying the donkey to market and leaving his goods behind.

**The birds won that one**
*Kero smiles to see his son happy...and excuses himself, going into his room and pulling out silver wire and a few gemstones...though he wrinkles his mouth at the moonstones, they are pretty gems, and will go well with Passura's scales...Onyx and Moonstone....a beautiful combination...*

**yep they did...**
Tam trades Mara for Argeeis and feeds her, singing another tune, this time he tells the tale of a certain dark furred cat. One he had written for a birthday many years before.
Passura is in stitches by the time Kerobian thinks to return.

Tam smiles at him and nods. "But of course and who better to sing it than me?"
Passura looks at them both and they can almost see the gears working in his head as he tries to figure out how this relates to both Tam and Kero. The song is definitely about a young animal, who apparently has the same name as his sirrah and Tam has written it. But how it connects to his sirrah beyond that, he truly does not know.
Confused, he walks to Kerobian, to see what he wants.

Tam wrote that song for me when I was little...when he raised me...now, hold out your hand...palm down, please.

Now the boy is completely baffled. He knows Kerobian is old, old beyond belief is how he sees it and Kero has told him as much himself. But nothing in the winged one's demeanor leads him to believe he is anything but a young person in his early twenties.
Confused and deply troubled by this he does what Kerobian asks.

*Kero smiles*
I deage every million years or so, Passura...it keeps my magic fresh....and Tam here raised me the last time I was deaged, about twenty five years ago.
*Stretches a braided silver wire bracelet over his wrist. Alternating around it are moonstones and onyx, both cabochon to show off their colors*
There we go....I thought you might like something pretty of your own.

Passura is still confused. He has no idea what deaging means or even what it means to live a million years, neither does he understand how Tam who looks to be younger than 25 could have raise his sirrah, but as Kero slips the bracelet onto his wrist all those confused thoughts take wing. He can only stare down at the glittering stones in amazement. Never had he been given anything so grand. Chosen ones were loved and protected, given all their basic needs and respected by all. As sch they often have more than most children, but the giving of gifts is not something one does to an individual who may not live long enough to enjoy them. It wasn't forbidden, simply just not done.
Tears well up in his eyes and he looks up with a trembling smile. "Th...thank you, mes'sirrah." He throws his arms about Kerobian and hugs him tight.

*Kero hugs him tight...and drops his shields by accident....suddenly, Passura feels how old Kero is...the slow, endless passage of years....the cuts left by betrayal....the songs he has sung in mourning....the call to duty as Soul warden....and beneath it all, the undercurrent of love and compassion, and Tes's face, mingled with Hopian's....and now Passura's as well*

The boy's eyes widen but he doesn't let go, instead he hugs Kero all that much harder. "When one is chosen..." he whispers softly, so soft Kero has to strain to hear him... "one goes... and you have been chosen many many times. "When next you go... I go, too." He looks up at the mage and flashes him an ancient knowing grin, the smile of a child who has grown old before his time. "Yes." he says firmly, brooking no argument.

*Kero shakes his head*
No....the paths I walk are for me alone....those who tread my dark path all too often fall to evil, and to hunger. Passura...I don't want that life for you...not at all...so when I go, I must ask you to remain here...for now...

The boy frowns at him and silently resolves to help Kero whether he wants it or not. (He is a boy after all and he has witnessed something that has called deep to the core of his existence. knowledge, understanding and maturity won't factor into to it for many years to come. He just won't tell Kero what he intends to do...)

*Kero nods*
In fact, I think that needs to be a rule for now....you are not to follow me yet. When you are old enough, I will let you come with me, if you still wish it...but not now.
Now, how do you like the bracelet?
