I can't read shounen-ai. The characters always look far too much like children, and that's just weird. Like I despise it when I see characters that are chibi style and look like little kids. It freaks me out, and I see that most in shounen-ai. Yaoi is just much more interesting.

SilverMaple I like both! It depends on my mood. 3nodding true true...of course my moods swing dramatically...sometimes i can be reading something i really like and have to put it down only to come back and not like it anymore...ya know???

I prefer shounen-ai that eventually leads into yaoi, more or less.
Most times, I want some good plot, some cute, romantic moments, but it's perfectly fine when it does get to the yaoi bits because it's that much more of a good series/story. For me, a good story-- fanfiction or manga, or otherwise --has lots of description, plot, and romance to get the characters together and make it probable and more realistic, as well as more interesting and enjoyable to read.
There's been times, though, no doubt, that I just want some hard yaoi to be over and done with.
I doubt I could pick, but at the current moment, I'd have to say both, though I chose shounen-ai. It definitely does depends on mood.
Aren't I confusing? 8D

I like both but...I would rather read a yaoi manga instead of watching a yaoi anime,
And would rather watch a shonen ai anime instead of reading a shonen ai manga....thats just the way I am XD

[And as for the BL thing, it really depends on what you're reading. Kodaka kazuma has very human lookimng characters and it's not all yaoi]

Personally I prefer Yaoi. I am guilty of going to a bookstore and looking at the ratings to determine if I buy it or not. What can I say. I have very little money and when I get to spend it on my addiction I want the bang for the buck so to speak. Yeah...this might make me a pervy old woman but *shrug* that is fine by me. I will admit that I have a few (very few) June/BL titles in my collection but over all it is mostly hardcore yaoi.

hmm, not really sure about the huge diff. but if anything -thinks-... definitely shounen-ai, since most of them (from the ones i know) have a good plot, and such, that doesn't lead to just smut.
