Some people are just stupid like that. Although I have to say that, having been part of a yaoi scanlation team, quite a few were either bi (majority) or lesbians. I think liking to see two pretty boys making about or having sex has nothing to do with the your sexual orientation.
I like yuri and shoujo-ai, but I'm not a lesbian. Same applies for a straight guy that might happen to like yaoi.

Because people are stupid that way. (I got asked if I was a lesbian once. But for a different reason: I came to school with a top hat on and... *realizes she's gonna start babbling**shuts up*)

I've never been asked that, luckily.
But I'm 13. Eheh.
Logically, it doesn't make sense, however, after the shock one's brain processes may not be functioning properly. =_= Therefore leading to the 'Are you a lesbian?' question.
Yuri and shoujo-ai, however, isn't really my cup of tea.

People tend to lump 'gay' in as one big catagorey. If you're into anything 'homosexual' (which if you think about it also kind of messed up, considering when you hear it you think two guys yet two girls fall under it as well, but I digress) then you're obviously a homosexual yourself. It's screwy but in an awkward way I can kind of see where people come from when they assume this.
Two cents!

My friends parents did that to her. *shrugs* I dunno. Normal straight parents pretty much just say "oh no teh_gay!" but my friend is bisexual and did come out to her mom and now we all sit around and talk about girls and boys and BL all the time.
Of course BL is just fantasy and flowers but it's not like there isn't relationships out there like that. People do love each other, and care for each other like in manga. Soooooo. Of course not everyone who's gay is like in BL manga, but geeze. I'm kinda sick of everyone pointing that out every two seconds.

liking yaoi has nothing to do with being a lesbien. Those people who ask are just stupid and closed minded.

Yeah, I know! Same thing happens to me! But I read it because I love hot guys, and when hot guys get together it's three times the hottness instead of just two times. I read it 'cause I like smexy guys. The fact that they're on top of another guy just makes it better for me! I'm bi, but...yeah. Not Lesbian. I've got a really nice lesbian friend, though she doesn't really like yaoi that much.

I fortunately haven't been asked if I'm a lesbian, the most frequent question of my friends is if I'm a pervert... Apart from a friend of mine who took a look at a pic of Gravitation I have in my mobile to use as wallpaper, and he asked me if I'm bi. Which I am, and I told him so, so I guess I wasn't annoyed. It just annoyed me that these people create a connection between reading yaoi and being lesbian or bi (or perverted, in the case of my friends).

Err..well...I'm a perv, but stereotyping all yaoi fans as pervs isn't right! Most of my yaoi-fangirl friends aren't pervy at all! That's my job as local God of Semedom! evil

That makes no sense; surely you meant to say "Yuri" in your title?

klausolas Can someone please explain to me why it is that If a guy reads a anything about two girls having sex he's straight if a little perverted but if I a girl read about two guys having sex I'm asked if I'm a lesbian. (Nothing against lesbians it's just been pissing me off) I dont get that either. It's ok for guys to look at girl on girl, but when a girl reads guy on guy she's lesbian, I think thats ridiculous.
