You don't know you've begun a game

Someone you knew and trusted leaks
A safeguard from this world of fear,
Is far away yet ever so near
Wanting and waiting, can't find what we need
These people have resorted to greed
You can't believe you've fallen this fast
Days of innocence seem the past
It's taken so long to shed the fake skin
It's hard to believe the mess you've gotten in
It took but a smile and some painless relief
To cause your true misery and experience true grief
