Konichi wa my name is Greg and I have been attempting to learn Japanese for a while. My reasons are that Japan is, technologicaly speaking, the greatest nation on Earth. And its a the Mecca of gaming/anime, both of which are two of my favorite things. And what gamer doesnt want to live/visit there? I mean they have E3! But, I recently actually bought a book on learning, that supposedly does its job in 6 or so weeks. Hopefully it doesnt lie or heads will roll!

Welcome.

I think I got the same book for my birthday. It was followed by some CDs that I could use to learn how to pronounce it. I belive it's made from the series of ''Living Language''. I haven't been able to use it yet though, because of all my school work, so I don't know how good it is.
True dat same book lol

Hi, and welcome! ^^ Aa, if it weren't for anime and manga, where would the japanese language be? If you're a complete beginner, you might want to start learing in the beginners lessons. I'm slowly updating it, got 3 lessons so far. Might be useful wink

i must correct you, e3 is NOT in Japan. it is in the US, in california, i believe. Anyway, though i'm not quite certain where it is located in the US, i know that it is in the US.

Does Japan have gaming conventions that are open to the public?

I know what hes's talking about. I don't remember what it's called at the moment, but Japan has a huge game event. Once a year I believe with thousands of games to try out, I think it's a week long. Biggest game event open to the pubic.

Hello, I'm studying Japanese at high school til the end of May (It's an after school thing), and it's been fun so far. I only know numbers 1-100, the hiragana alphabet, and the various greetings. I look forward to learning alot here.

why didn't I think of that before o.O? Pronounciation must be tought as well of course! We shall be working on it, don't worry. It will probably be added along with the hiragana and katakana, wheither it be me who posts it or someone else ^^ That way you can get at least a pretty good idea how words are pronounced
