Nodding with a small smile, Shrian turned, stepping on to the sidewalk. Turning right, he continued at a moderate pace, not wanting to go to fast for fear of the light, yet not wanting to stay outside too long for fear that someone would get suspicious. Outside, he was a picture of calm tranquility. Inside, however, he would have liked to just run amuck and scream in happiness at having someone over.

Coming to the exit of the park, the semi-darkness of sunset was setting in. Very few people walked the streets at this time, most home with families or still at work. Those who were out, though, were hurrying along distractedly, too busy to notice the trio. Continuing confidently, Shrian hung a right, crossing the street at an angle and continuing on the sidewalk. His eyes scanned ahead of them, looking for anyone who'd be coming their way.

Absently, his wakizashi made it's way to his hand again, flipping it up and catching it by the tip of it's blade once again. It was a normal habit for him to pass the time or when he was nervous. It relaxed him. He'd recieved that japanese knife from a Transcendant he'd housed for a few days, out of recompense for his hospitality. Shrian had grown quite fond of it, and now that he thought back, wondered why he'd even thought about leaving it with a stranger.

Coming to a cut-off from the main sidewalk, Shrian hung a left, heading towards a moderate sized building. He didn't stop, only nodded with a smile at the doorman, who nodded back, frowning. Pushing open the door, he proceeded into the elevator, waiting for the others to enter before pressing the button marked '12'. As the door shut, he sighed, leaning against the elevator wall, seeming tired. "Well, I'm all the way at the top. We won't have any trouble past here." he said calmly, running his fingers distractedly through his hair. He smiled at the other two before looking down to dig in his pocket, withdrawing a small apartment key.

As they reached the top, he stepped out of the elevator, turning right along a long corridor. He thought of the many times he'd brought other Transcendants, smiling absently at the memories. It was risky, but definitely worth it. So many friends he'd made, though, he'd never seen any of them again.

Arriving at the door marked '1221', Shrian slipped his key into the lock, turning it and pushing open the apartment door. Sighing once again, he withdrew his key, pocketting it and offering the doorway to the other two. "Welcome to my home." he said with what he hoped was a welcoming smile.

Inside, straight ahead was a large glass window overlooking the park they'd just been in. Crimson curtains had been pushed to the side, fluttering slightly on the ground. A large bed, though mostly plain, stoof off to the left, a few feet away from the window. To their right at an angle sat a wooden table with four plain seats. Directly left was a door, cracked open slightly to show a sizeable bathroom. Finally, to the right, was another door standing wide open, showing a large guest room.

Shrian rubbed the back of his neck, glancing around his apartment. "It's a bit big for me, but it serves it's purpose well I suppose..." he said with a small laugh. His eyes travelled to the other two with a slightly embarissed look. "I haven't cleaned up in a while, mostly because I wasn't expecting any guests..." he said with the same calm tone, guesturing to the various clothes lying around near the bed.

Iris's body spoke of nothing but nervous energy as they made their way towards Shrian's home. She hadn't gotten to finish her run, she was still dealing with the adrenaline rush from her transformation and her mind was running a mile a minute bringing up images all the things she'd never, never get to do again.

It was a very depressing Slideshow of loss.

A few minutes of this jittery nervousness later, Iris was staring open mouthed at the apartment before her. Having only just finished high school and without any kind of money for a future education, she had become reasonably comfortable in the fact that she would never be moving out of her one-room apartment unless it was to go on another cross-world trek and end up somewhere else. With these new ....objects on her back, that plan was also bunk.

She tried to beat back that particular thought, as her travels were more important to her than her running ever would be.

"It wonderful." she said softly. Not to mention you have enough clothes that you can afford to let them sit around. It's practically luxury. Her eyes were drawn to the large plate glass window in front of her, and the view was stunning. She knew every nuance of that park, but seeing it from so high up was amazing and new. She seemed vaguely distracted when she said, "I could always help clean up. I do it all the time anyway." After all, that was just one of the many personal errands she preformed regularly for the people paying her.

So, one of those guy's names was Shrian, and the other I still don't know. Seij thought, as he walked. He caught a glimpse of something white out of the corner of his eye. It was interesting enough that he took a closer look, seeing that it was the guy from before, as well as the girl and Shrian. Well, it is not like me to follow someone, but what the hell. Seij thought.

The three people from before had entered a tall apartment complex. Assuming the person at the door knew who Shrian was, he walked up to him. "Hello, sir. I was just wondering if you could give this to a fellow named Shrian. I beleive he is staiying in this complex." Seij said, holding out a small piece of paper. Written on it was his cell phone number, along with his first name.

"I'll see that he receives it." the doorman replied.

"Thank you. Have a good night." Seij said, nodding in thanks before strolling off. Now, where is a good place to eat while I wait for a call? Seij thought to himself. Seeing a restaurant that looked pleasing enough, Seij walked in and ordered a simple meal of salad and a hamburger. While eating, Seij thought, Now I play the waiting game.

Using the intercom system, the doorman buzzed up to Shrian's room. "Excuse me, Mr. Shrian, sir. I have a memo for you." The doorman said, relaying the information on the paper through the intercom.

Shrian blinked, eyes traveling from the other two to the small speaker next to the door. "Odd...No one knows I live here...At least, no one besides my roommate, but she'd just come right up." Smiling appologetically, he moved to the door, opening it and waving a hand around the apartment. "Please, make yourselves at home. I'll be right back."

Closing the door behind him, Shrian proceeded back to the elevator, riding it down to the first floor where he met the doorman.

"Sir, a man came to the door and instructed that I delivered this to you. All it is is a phone number and what appears to be a name." said the doorman in a slightly puzzled tone. Aparently, he only knew Shrian by face.

Raising an eyebrow, Shrian took the small piece of paper from the man's hand, eyeing the number curiously. "Thank you, have a good night." he said kindly, turning and walking back to the elevator as he recieved the same response from the doorman. Riding back up to his room, he opened the door with another appologetic look. "Sorry about that. Some guy seems to have left his name and number for me to call..." he trailed off, laying the paper by his phone.

"I'll call him back in a minute. So once again!" he said with a laugh, guesturing towards the kitchen. "Would either of you like anything before I scamper off and ignore you for a moment while I make this call?"

{{Just for reference, lime's are the best off all citrus fruits! End of conversation. This post contains the abuse of perfectly innocent hyphens.

Iris eyed the kitchen warily. Her own had consisted of a camp stove, a microwave with a small television on top of it and an utterly miniscule refridgerator. However, everything seemed obvious enough... And there was a conveiniently placed bowl of fruit. Without thinking she grabbed one of the bright citruses from it. It was no lime- in her opinion the bitter green fruit was the best of all comfort foods- but, the aromatic grapefruit was good enough for her.

She idly tossed it into the air a few times in a pitiful attempt to work off some of her nervous energy and the second set of arms- she still refused to think of them as her own, and thus dubbed them 'the second arms'- twitched beneath the fabric. She had always despsied long sleeves for covering up her skin in an annoyingly suffocating way, and it seemed the new arms were no exception to the rule.

"I figure I'll manage well enough." She was still trying to suppress her general wonderment at the apartment it seemed she be spending at least a day or two in, and her voice hid the emotion well enough. A particularly violent toss of the grapefruit into the air later, her fingertips dug into it's skin, courtesy of the power of gravity, and she began peeling it away in the largest strips she could manage. She shoved the three large pieces of fruit skin in her pocket, intending to dry them out later. The remaining small scraps were shuffled into the trashcan.

"Feel free to make the call, I promise not to eavesdrop." She saluted with her left hand, still tossing and catching the peeled grapefruit with her right, and headed back to the giant window she'd seen on their way in. It really was an addictive view. Bird's eye, I suppose they call it...

Smiling appologetically, and in slight humor as he watched his nervous habit replicated by the young woman, Shrian picked up the phone from the reciever, looking to the small scrap of paper and dialing the number scrawled on it. 'Seij...' he thought distractedly as he entered the guest room, falling back onto the bed with a sigh.

As the phone rang, he thought about where his friend was. It was getting late, and it was slightly past the time she should have been home. He set aside his worry, though, knowing she'd stay out of trouble. 'At least, she'd evade it.' he thought to himself with a wry smirk. Honestly, she was the main reason he had such a nice apartment, but no one really knew that besides himself and his roommate.

"Eighty one, eighty two, eighty three, and eighty four," Fiye counted to herself, her body covered by the darkness as she looked at the contents inside. She looked at the photos, seeing the various pictures left by the person. A few photos of family, friends, children, and maybe even pets. And then there were other cards. Ranging from credit cards, to medical cards, and memberships. Hell, there were even countless library cards that could be found in one's wallet. However, they would get everything, but the green pieces of thin paper that was inside. After all, survival of the fittest.

It wasn't to long before she discarded the wallet, throwing it off to the side as if it were some kind of trash. After all, she had no use for it, and she wasn't about to turn something she stole to the police. All she could do now is pocket the paper, and walk back to the apartment. It wouldn't take long, and at least she would have money to bring back. A day of eating would be good. Although, she wished she would stumble around something worth some value and finally get out of this cursed hell. After all, she had seen some of the hunts that may have occured inside the city, and she didn't like them one bit.

It wasn't to long before she started the walk home, keeping the same form she had used to steal someone's wallet. A small girl walking home would be too obvious, and she didn't want something like that to be seen, or else they would suspect something. Although, inside the elevator, she had a chance for herself. She could see the people as being differently from herself. Comming from happy families that they knew the faces of their own parents. They lived their own lives, working for a big guy who made more profits than 99% of the world. Hell, someone making $22 an hour was making more money than she was. After all, she only stole one, maybe three wallets a day.

It wasn't to long before she looked back at the buttons, seeing the light hit the 11th floor, she quickly changed it to her own child look. At least, now she had money, and she was an innocent girl. There was no reason why she would be caught now. Although, it wasn't too long before she reached towards the door, turning the knob with the slightest precaution as she peered inside, quickly noticing a brunette with Shrian. She giggled to herself as she walked inside, turning to close the door.

"Good evening Shrian," Fiye remarked with a smile as she gave a sigh, only taking off her shoes and throwing them next to her closed door, "Is she a girl-friend of yours?" Fiye quickly added, turning back over to Shrian. There was something odd about the Brunette, as if she had seen her before. Although, why she would remember something so vaugely was something beyond her, and why she could even remember this single person out of the many she had seen was something beyond her words. Hopefully something would turn up soon, or her curious mind would run rampant around the woman's belongings.

[[Okay, moving along with the plot.

Siej, you can just flow with what happens.]]

Sighing as he got an answering machine, Shrian spoke clearly. "I recieved your number from my doorman earlier, and obviously here's a phone call. I assume you're the man from earlier," he said with a small smirk, remembering Seij's slightly idiotic actions. Even if they were stupid, though, at least he had good intentions. "so I suppose you can just call back at this number. I'll be here. Bye." With that, he ended the call, pushing off of his bed to walk out just as Fiye entered the room with a slightly smug look.

Smirking slightly, Shrian shook his head. "Curious, or just nosey as usual, Fiye?" he remarked jokingly with the retoracle question. "No, she's just a friend of mine I happened to meet today, as is he." he said calmly, motioning to Nitebyss. "They'll be staying here for a while, or at least she will. This is Nitebyss," As he spoke he moved his hand in the direction of the other man, "And this...Well, actually we haven't quite gotten her name yet." he said, blinking as he thought about it. He looked to the young woman by the window, curiosity piqued in his tone. "If you wouldn't mind us knowing, what is your name? Oh, and this is Fiye, by the way. I guess you could call her my roommate." he said with a smirk. "She's a bit troublesome, and sometimes annoying, but she's really quite nice and loveable after you get to know her." he joked, smiling cheekily at his friend. "It's nice to have you back, by the way. I was getting worried." he said with a wink, though the tone behind his words was quite sincere.

"Just because I'm a bit late doesn't mean anything Shrian," Fiye remarked as she pulled the eighty four dollars out of her own back pocket, smiling as she threw it towards Shrian, "If anything, you could get us some food for that, and please save the rest of the bills. I don't want to be left without electricity for even internet access for even a few minutes," Fiye remarked with a sigh as she jumped on top of the couch and turned on the television, smiling as she flipped through the channels carelessly. She didn't care about the guests. They were there to live in the house, and they would be treated the same way she treated Shrian. Even if they may have been together for a month.

"Anyways, don't worry about me Nitebyss and Ms. Brunette. I'm just a strange person with a strange defect," Fiye remarked with a smile as she continued to flip channel to channel, trying to figure out why the brunette still looked familiar. There was something about her, that told her she should have done something to change her life. Although, she did her best to keep her mind off that woman. If anything, keeping a busy mind of that woman would be a horrible thing to do. After all, she'd be doing alot of strange things to the brunette, and if anything, she didn't want to be any different from another human. Except for the fact she had a 'Growth Defect.'

"Anyways, could you get something other than pizza for once Shrian. I think our guests may like something other than meat sauce, cheese, bread, and bits of cheese," Fiye remarked as she stood up on the couch, looking behind her with attentive eyes, "Also, could you tell my why that woman has two bumps on her shoulder blades? I've seen alot of strange things, but that does stand a bit out of that crowd,"

Shrian shook his head helplessly at the cheeky manner of his houseguest, catching the fluttering bills one by one deftly. "I know, darling." he said dramatically, pocketting the money. "I forget to pay bills every month, don't I?" he smirked nonetheless, shaking his head again. If it weren't for Fiye, he'd be truly alone. "And yeah yeah, I won't get pizza. I'm usually just too lazy to cook anything, so be grateful I even feed you." he said lightly, walking to the kitchen again after his playful comment. Even if he didn't show it, he cared about Fiye emensely.

As she commented on the other girl's extra growths, though, his head snapped back up, casting a warning glance in Fiye's direction. 'For heaven's sake, she doesn't need reminding...' he thought, shooting an appologetic look at the brunette before looking around the kitchen some. "Well, I don't have much here, but I could always run and get something. Anything you guys'd like in particular? Chinese? Thai? Or we could just make Fiye suck it up and order pizza..." he said, feigning a thoughtful look.

"Chinese would eb good, for once," Fiye remarked with a smile as she continued to look at Shrian, "Your cooking isn't that great, and personally, I haven't eaten such a treat in god knows how long. Maybe you should really get some chinese. It would be a treat for our freakish little friend here," Fiye added with a smile before she gave a yawn, moving towards her door and unlocking it. She would need a moment to recover from keeping her disguise on for so long. After all, she was only human.

"Anyways, call me out with something to eat. Or else the next time I get some money, you'll have no part of it," Fiye added, promptly shutting and locking the door as she fell against her own bed, letting her disguise fall apart as she looked at her own teenage self. She smiled, having a second glance at her own body. It reminded her of the immense talent she possessed, and wished that she could bring it futher. That she could transform into a small stray cat if she even wished for such a thing. of course, it wasn't likely for such a thing to happen.

"I wonder..." Fiye remarked to herself, thinking about the whole connection between transcendants, "Could it be something that deals with the world we live in. Could it be that something in the air is causing certain people to gain certain strange traits." Fiye asked again as she laid upon the bed and closed her eyes, before falling asleep.

{{EDIT| In light of Fiye's new post, which has yet to be read, I shall just blank this out and edit accordingly....

EDIT 2| ...Well screw that. Her post didn't even conflict with mine at all. Shows what I get for being paranoid.}}

Iris opened her mouth and raised her hand a few times over the course of Fiye and Shrian's conversation, as if she was about to say something of at least some importance, but every time her hand drifted back down to her side and she just shoved another wedge of the grapefruit in her mouth to account for it's general gaping openness.

The first few times it was because there was something about this short new arrival that she did not like. Something that had a niggling familiarity. Something that smelled of distrust and crime. Iris had never been fond of her so-called 'theif sense,' but to date it hadn't failed. Everyone from pickpockets to bigtime luandering ring operators had an aura about them, a sort of ...something. Had she been french she would have invoked the age old je ne sai quois. And whatever that unknown factor was, it didn't get along well with her. She would be grateful when the girl left the room, and presumably she would. But then again, it was her house...

The next time she had attempted to interject, there had been the comment about her new arms. That had silenced the brunette so quickly it hurt. And it truly did, having to think about the monstrous things growing out of her back. Or perhaps that was just some sort of discomforted cramp from being covered so long. The new limbs twitched again, as if to mock her, and she slid her right, and thus not juice covered, hand up to the zipper of her windbreaker and tugged it down slowly.

Maybe if she didn't draw attention to herself, she could avoid answring questions about the damned things. Then again, attention seemed perfectly happy being on her, in the strange sort of way that it is on someone when people think they are not listening to a conversation, even though both participants obviously knew she was.

There was soemthing very odd about being talked about in the third person like that, and she never would get used to it, no matter how often her 'employers' did it, or her caregiver's as the case seemed to be.

Finally she found an opening that she could take without fear. Cooking. Cooking she could do. When you haven't had the money for take out since you were four, you learned how to cook and you learned damn fast. And lack of ingrediants was no problem. Not after her meager lifestyle.

Once again she rose her hand to about shoulder height, an old habit from her school days that she had never quite gotten over and that she used regularly when breaking into a conversation. Her index finger pointed skywards as she spoke, and she noted with immense relief that this Fiye character was taking that oppurtunity to leave. She paused, frozen, until the other girl left.

"I can cook. Er...Let me rephrase that. I will cook. I...I don't think I'd like take out today..." she was suddenly very intensely reminded of the old adage about beggars not being choosers. She shrugged it off uncaringly. She'd gone through her equivalent of hell today. It would be nice to know one thing, at least, would be the same. After all, the stupid new arms were no where near the right position to get in her way in a kitchen.

She tied the wind breaker firmly around her waist, forcing aside the knowledge of her new arms- and trying not to notice she was starting to think of them as belonging to her- and marching solidly back into the kitchen.

"I will definately cook." her voice held the slightest tremor of desperation, though she tried her hardest to force it back. She needed the familiarity. Without so much as waiting for permision she had ducked into the refridgerator, beating back another moment of awe at it's size, and was rifling through it's contents.

"And it's Iris. They," she didn't specify who, she didn't like thinking about her parents, "thought it would be cute to name me after some archaic goddess who ran all manner of messages for the higher gods, to try and invoke speed and health or some other nonsense." She scoffed inwardly at the utter irony of the fact that she was, as the Iris-goddess had once been, essentially an errand runner.

At the mention of Iris as his 'Freaky little friend', Shrian narrowed his eyes. "I'll wake you when it's time to eat, if you deserve it after that remark. Whether you bring money home or not, Fiye, you won't mistreat our guests." It wasn't a question, nor was it said in a threatening tone. Her rudeness was almost understandable to him, but it wasn't enough of an excuse for her blatant cruelty.

Shaking his head once again with a sigh to acompany it, Shrian looked to the brunette as she spoke, Fiye exitting into her room. Seeing her slightly perturbed at Fiye's remark, he gave her another appologetic smile as she offered to cook. "Sure, I guess that's fine. I don't have much around here, but you'll find what you need in the 'fridge and the pantry." he said, motioning ti her left. "And please forgive Fiye...I really don't know her backround, and she's only been here for about a month, but she's not as bad as she seems...Well, most of the times at least." he remarked dryly with a wry smirk. He liked to think that Fiye cared at least slightly about him as he did her, though it could have been just out of his fear of lonliness that he thought such.

Changing his train of thought, Shrian's eyes settled over the two short arms that had grown from Iris' shoulder blades. He didn't comment on them, nor did he stair for long, but he did look long enough to reminisce over how it would be to have such things growing out of his own back. Knowing she couldn't see, his facial expression changed to a sympathetic look before altering swiftly to that of his former expression of annoyance with Fiye.

"Well, now that the child's pacified for a moment, I may as well help out. Isn't she just lovely, though?" he asked with a sarcastic smirk, walking over to a cupboard to withdraw four plates and some silverware. He set one at each spot on the table, well aware that Fiye would just eat where she pleased. "So what're you planning on?" he asked curiously. She seemed rather desperate to cook, if not needing. So instead of interjecting to offer to cook, Shrian just offered his help. "I'll help out if you need me to; it looks like you've got it rather under control though." he commented lightly, watching her with interest.

So many things he wanted to ask of her. Where she had previously lived, where she was from, who her parents where, what her parents were, and so many more. Despite his curiosity, he kept his questions in check, knowing a person's privacy was important. And after her ordeal with growing new arms, he expected her to be rather sensitive to inquiries.

Iris eyed the fridge and took a quick inventory of the visible objects before pulling open the vegetable drawers and taking out almost everything in them, a head of cabbage, a few cloves of garlic and a bright, cold lemon among the taken vegetation.

She spread the many objects out over the counter and scanned the room for any type of knife. To her sheer joy there was, in fact, an knife block in the corner, and she pulled from it a particularly vicious looking butcher's knife.

"She wanted chinese, she'll get chinese." Iris replied steadily, the hint of desperation receding. She ws back doing something normal now, and it was wonderful. She had never before had someone watching her when she cooked, so there was nothing particularly interesting about the way she quickly and almost disinterestedly sliced the vegetables into thin strips, or about the way she shuffled through the cabinets after a frying pan and in the pantry for a box of thin, angel's hair pasta. They weren't rice noodles, but they were close enough for her.

In a moment's time, vegetable oil was lining the heating pan and the noodles were boiling happily. "You're watching me. Not the food, not the prep. Me. Why?" she forced herself not to think about what she said next. "It's because of them, isn't it?" she asked, stretching the new arms outwards, the spindly, demented fingers stretching like some freakish bat's wings. Her eyes were smouldering as she stared at him, daring him to ask his questions and wondering at the same time whether she really wanted to answer them.
