Physical Description: The biggest thing about Roana is her hair, it's naturally a huge mess of dark reddish brown curls and sticks out at all angles making her look like some sort of wild child. Occasionally she'll try and tame it with bands and clips and it helps, but only a little. She is also a tall women hitting between 5'10 - 5'11.
The rest of her body is slender and all very angular, she had no obvious curves to speak of and a boyish flat chest. Her eyes are narrow and dark brown, her nose is a little to long and slightly snubbed at the end, her lips are plump but her mouth is wide. Her skin is mocha tan and despite her youth already getting some of the leather look from being out in the sun too long and too often. Her face is spared to some degree shaded by her hair she has kept it free of most blemishes. She is striking to look upon, even intimidating to some people but she rarely gets complimented on her looks for beauty.
When it comes to clothes she tends to stick with deep dark but vibrant colours like blues, greens, reds and purples. Going about her day to day duties she will wear shirts with jerkins and tight leather pants that won’t restrict her movement to much.
Like most in her 'profession' she also has a liking for jewellery. Gold being a particular favourite she adorns herself in hope earnings and looped bracelets. However sometimes its better to hide such valuables so she wears a small leather pouch on a string around her neck where they caan all be tucked away should the need arise.

Ro's hair is almost an entity all of it's own. If she failed to impress, but her hair did, I would not be surprised.
Personality: A side effect from coming from a very large family then going into an even more noisy and active environment. Roana Knows how to make herself heard. Her voice is loud and proud and she has no qualms about making her options known. That doesn’t mean she doesn’t understand that other people lie and keep things close to their chest, she just doesn’t see the point. Victory to the loudest!
She is overly dismissive of other people’s ideas when they are too far removed from her own thought process. They are clearly ignorant and probably should be kept from breeding for the good of the human race.
She’ll tell them so as well, just using enough sarcasm to make them unsure if she is serious or not. Sarcasm is something she uses a lot.
She is also very self-assured, most of the time. She knows what she can do and what she can’t and she is okay with that. She can tie a knot in fifty different ways but ask her to sing and she’ll laugh and tell you she would rather spare people that trauma. Her reading and writing skills are also very basic. She hates it when people try and force her to try things she knows she is bad at. Push her too far out of her comfort zone and she becomes stubborn, defensive and even angry.
Being brought up around seacrafter’s she loves the sea, the wide open waters, the freedom of it all and being able to explore the world with men and women she calls family. She hates being confined and the ocean is her first love. She also swears like a true born seacrafter. Her swearing become particularly bad when she loses her temper. She has endless patience but very little tolerance. In other words, try and fail and you will be fine. Refuse to stop being a sharding dimglow and she’ll bite your head off. If someone keeps pushing her beyond that point it is very likely to come to blows. She very much lives up to the stereotype of the fiery redhead.
When her temper isn’t blowing maturity out the window Roana has a good head on her shoulders. She may not be educated academically (and frankly has no desire to be) but she is smart with plenty of common sense. A good person to have around when things get tough. People have the ability to push all her wrong buttons but if it’s an unavoidable situation (get caught in a rock slide, lost in a storm ect) she remains calm and level headed just trying to find the best way out.
And she is a good person at heart, she’s social and she wants to help, she cares especially deeply about family and friends. If someone can get on her good side and stay there then they can always count on her.

History: Roana Spent the first few years of life in a small house and small amount of land where her parents grew enough food to be self-sustaining and long grass with which her mother weaved baskets to sell. It was a happy family and her parents were very close. With three even four children this remained manageable but by the time Roana Came along she was the seventh. One of her previous siblings had died during infancy but the house was still feeling very crowded. And her mother was pregnant again. It was a good household, lively and full of good amount of love. Her parents knew they could not cope however so the children were slowly pushed out for family members to foster.
Both her parents had fairly large families themselves which provided plenty of uncles and aunts for them to go to.
Where they could Roana’s parents tried to give their children a choice to where they wanted to go and who with. Most opted to stay in the small cot hold not far from where their parents lived, but Everyone’s favourite uncle was Uncle Rembone or ‘uncie Remmy’ for the youngest in the family. He was a seacrafter, a salty old seadog with a million stories and always a bag of gifts for his nieces and nephews. If Roana had to leave her parents she wanted to go with Remmy and no one else. Her parents were sceptical even straight out said ‘no’ the first time it was voiced by their daughter. Even her uncle said it was not a good idea, despite the fact he would love having her aboard. Roana was persistent and at last it was agreed that she would be allowed to go with him onto his ship and train to be a sea crafter but she would have to wait a few years and see if she changed her mind. She didn’t. And on her seventh turn she left with her uncle and joined his crew on his ship. ‘The sea ghost’.
Roana loved it on board the ship. All the crew members spoiled her rotten. As the captains niece she enjoyed some special privileges such as a bunk in the captain’s chambers but she still had to work and learn (and if you’ll pardon the pun) she took to it like a fish to water. Officially The sea ghost was a merchant and trading ship but Roana soon learnt that it was more. They were not above smuggling and other pirate activities. Especially if any ship from the north was foolish enough to stray in to their waters.
They knew port home in Rivercrest hold and Roana loved the hold almost as much as the ship. And although she went back to see her family and 11 brothers and sisters as often as she could her home was her ship and Rivercrest. Most of all she loved uncle Remmy deeply. Her uncle promised her that he would make her a seacraft master and when he went the ship would be hers. The crew were her second family. They even brought her a pretty boy whore for her birthday. (There was a mix up and her was as gay as rainbows and they just spent all night talking) But the intention was good, if sleazy. When her uncle found out he kicked all their asses much to her amusement.
They were at sea when the first thread in ten generations hit Pern. Close enough to the hold that when a stray thread ate through the hull of The sea ghost the crew were quickly picked up by other ships in the area that had seen their distress. However the sea ghost sunk below the waters. Uncle Remmy would have gone down with the ship if not for Roana who refused to leave without him. When they got back to rivercrest the dragons had taken to the air and protected the hold but their home and livley hood where gone. It was also clear that Remmy resented Roana for making him leave, for he had nothing left to live for. Without work the crew dispersed and Roana was left at a loose end trying to cheer up her uncle as he became more and more determined to drink away his sorrows.
Other: She is very agile able to clamber about high rigging with relative ease.
Not too bad in a fight either she was brought up on a ship and in seacrafter taverns where brawls where common, her uncle insisted she know how to defend herself and she is skilled in bare hand self-defence, using her enemies weight and momentum against them. She is also good with a knife and carries one at her hip at all times.
