Yoshi has fallen further behind again, but the one saving grace about being in 8th place: better power ups. While Cher prays for a Blue Shell, she thinks of something else to ask Minty that she doesn't already know.
"It is, but I'm used to it." Considering what she used to do before, it's not so bad. There's another long silence, long enough to get that prayed for Blue Shell, which she uses immediately. Only once the lead has been taken down a peg does she respond. "I wouldn't mind showing you around. The yard is rather large, though. My Kindred sometimes drift in from the Lake, as well. Do you like to read? If so, what kinds of books catch your fancy?"

The telltale wubwub of the blue shell approaching came through the speakers, Peach gave her 'ai-eeee!' cry as it slammed into her and continued on it's journey, "I read everything. "All right." Once she was assured of their solitude, Cher quietly murmurs the directions to her house on the outskirts of Durem. "It's small, but you'll know it when you see it." Ah, the satisfying scream of the inconvenienced. Music to the ears. Yoshi takes the opportunity to zoom on past, inching his way back up the ranks.
"That's all right, as long as you don't mind a thunder of Fafnirs lazing about." The image was an amusing one: a bundle of cats draping themselves over the scaly backsides of fully grown adult Fafnirs, curling up with Adolescent Fafnir, or chasing Baby Fafnir around her fragrant yard. It was enough to allow another rare twitch of her lips.
"Nonfiction used to bore me, but now I find some of it interesting, especially books on psychology and the like. My real favorites have always been fantasy, however." She pauses to pick up a wall of Green Shells, using it to bat Mario out of the way again. "I think if I had time to write, I would write stories involving both of those things."
"Sounds like a party, lemme know when you have a day off." Minty smiled as Yoshi zoomed up the ranks, "I used to think the same thing about nonfiction. As it turned out, I just wasn't reading the right nonfiction."

"Sounds like a party, lemme know when you have a day off." Minty smiled as Yoshi zoomed up the ranks, "I used to think the same thing about nonfiction. As it turned out, I just wasn't reading the right nonfiction."
"Sundays are generally my days off, but sometimes my department will call in for my help. Very rarely, though." Yes, she has an entire retinue of cops that answer to her now. No wonder she has no free time.
"Indeed." Cher can't think of anything to say to that, so she lets the topic drop. Yoshi scoots into a respectable fourth place, and she nods in satisfaction. Maybe one day she can keep first place for more than a few fleeting moments.
"What are your thoughts on Gaian politics?" A strange question, but one that she finds herself curious about.
"How does one even begin to define Gaian politics? When we're not being invaded by moon vampires or whatever, we're told that we can vote for a meme-spouting rabbit thing or a meme-spouting rabbit thing for president. Or the avatars of the holidays are having a knock-down drag-out brawl and involving everyone in it. Or somehow the concept of sleep has fallen in love with the concept of winter, but deals with those feelings in the most fairy-tale villain way possible." She sighed, "I suppose, at the very least, despite how strange they are, Gaian politics are much more straight forward that most of the politics I have encountered."

Minty snorts a very unladylike laugh.

Cher just blinks. Her expression softens into, yes, a genuine smile. As quick as it comes, it's gone, but it was definitely there. "The meme-spouting rabbit thing lost to a literal trashcan this time around, but I concede your point."
While she waits for the next race to start, she continues to listen to Minty's rather spirited rant. It's been quite a long time since the detective has had such a long and pleasurable conversation - with anyone who wasn't Toby, anyway. "I think you're right, though. And if the concepts of winter and sleep can get along, surely everyone else can follow their example."
(Sorry, was watching the sunset - it was gorgeous. Had dinner with the fam - it was delicious. emotion_kirakira )
"And the trashcan is somehow a step up." Minty shakes her head, "People will get along when they're ready to get along and not a moment sooner."
(sounds lovely~)
"Probably because it is a literal trashcan and cannot speak." Cher places the controller in her lap, tilting her head Minty's way.
"Right you are. Actually, you have been right this whole time. How did you get so wise?" She's not sure if that counts as a question or not, but she'll roll with it anyway.
(It was. For once, the sky was on fire, and I was content.)

"True. If only all politicians were blessed with such a trait." Minty punched the pause button when she noticed Yoshi had stopped moving and looked back at Rae. She cocked an eyebrow, unsure of how to answer the question.
"What?"
