Saeki could hardly believe his luck. Patrick was so kind to him, worrying about a curse the young man would probably never come across. But to find out they felt the same towards him was a bit of a relief, albeit rather flustering as he just got confessed to by someone he pretty much considered way out of his league. Saeki had almost accepted the fact that he would just need to grow over the feeling and continue the friendship on the right tone as it had been. But that was before the other confessed. Yet it would seem like he had misinterpreted the man's experience, despite their slight age difference. At least if he went by Patrick's reaction. Perhaps it wouldn't be as impossible after all. As he listened to what the other said he could feel the heat rise in his cheeks again as they mentioned bedroom etiquette.
That was what he knew the least about. The young man sighed a bit and then nodded still flustered. It felt kind of embarrassing to admit that, most of all to Patrick. The young man could feel his heart running a mile, but they had come this far. Saeki was surprised to hear Patrick's question though. Was he leaving that last decision to him? His upbringing caused some conflict on that subject. Yet, he had moved out of Japan to be somewhat freed from that selfsame culture. It was an important decision at that. Could he really allow this chance to get away from him? Saeki knew all to well that what he felt for Patrick was more than just a fleeting attraction or a fling as the other called it. "I think we should give it a chance." he replied finally and smiled a bit through his blushing, hardly able to believe what he heard coming from himself. Normally he would react different in general.
More than that though, Saeki felt like they might both regret it if they didn't at this point. Now they had come this far already. 'I just hope I really am good enough for him.' he wondered to himself. When he said he had no experience that was no understatement. He had barely gotten further than holding hands with his ex and that one had been rather hidden since in Japan it wasn't exactly approved if two men were together. For a moment Saeki had totally forgotten they were in a place neither of them really knew and that could harbor almost dangerous animals, but he managed to remember where they were just in time to avoid tripping over a vine across the path. That would have been to much for him right now if he had tripped and fallen in front of Patrick. It did remind Saeki to be a bit more vigilant to their surroundings as well, even though he preferred to focus on Patrick for now. Especially while he waited nervously for what Patrick would say about his choice.

Patrick wondered if he mentioned the bedroom too soon. "By any chance, have you not lost your v-card yet? Nothing wrong about that considering I didn't lose mine until several months ago" he asked and admitted to when he gave his v-card up. Saeki would be the second person to know this fact. "Kinda ironic, I suppose to be talking about this subject in a jungle called shattered hearts" he thought and mentally laughed. "We will then" he said very much pleased with Saeki's response. He wanted to shower Saeki with gifts in the numbers of when they first met at the farmer's market, but he concluded level of gifting is usually for a time after a couple of milestones into the relationship. "I want us to co-I would like to give you a gift to mark this occasion. Could be a clip on earring or a ring or any kind of metal related jewelry" he offered still wanting to give him a gift. He thought of a different word, but he had trouble thinking of the English word in that very moment and he believed he got what he wanted. Although he doesn't want to push one on him if he doesn't want one or doesn't want one made by him. He approached the tablet to get a better look, "Seeing this tablet reminded me that we should watch out for triggered traps. They always show up in stories in jungles and this island is big enough for at least one small colony to stay on or use for burial grounds" he said and looked over to Saeki.

For a moment Saeki was a bit bewildered about the v-card question. Though after a moment it dawned to him what Patrick meant and he blushed deeply. That was one heck of a subject to suddenly mention. Especially for him it was a bit of an unexpected surprise. He hadn't even been remotely close to making love to someone. Saeki shook his head a bit, not trusting his voice at this moment. He was afraid it would crack up with how flustered he felt. Thankfully there was a little moment of respite when they spoke out their replies and he had felt a bit more secure about replying vocally. At least once he decided to agree with having a go with each other. Still he could hardly believe his luck. With how he had felt about Patrick for a while now as well. Saeki looked at them as they spoke about gifts and smiled gently.
"It would be nice to commemorate the start of our relation." Saeki said, blushing lightly still as he thought to himself what this meant. The one guy he had fallen for so deeply as never before was now his boyfriend. "We should both have something. I'm afraid I can't make jewelry though. But I'll be delighted to get you something." he admitted and smiled to Patrick. Thankfully that part was absolutely no problem for the young man. He had plenty to gift Patrick something beautiful, he just needed to know one thing. "What do you think we should choose? An earring or a ring?" he asked the other curiously. He had never worn earrings before but he was willing to even get his ear pierced for something Patrick made.
While he waited for an answer he watched what his partner was doing and glanced at the tablet as well. Saeki blinked a bit as he heard what Patrick said. He hadn't thought of that. He felt all to happy so more now that he had brought his katana this time. That sounded pretty dangerous. But he wasn't about to turn back now. Especially after this, after they confessed it was a great experience to walk alongside Patrick. And they did come here for an adventure. Saeki nodded to the other, a bit more serious about the hike than just an outing and smiled at the man. "I'll help you keep an eye out for it." he replied. Not that he really knew how these traps looked, but he knew some about traps the old Japanese used.

Patrick has only played one role in the bedroom etiquette matter. At least it didn't seem like having some personal experience wasn't a bad thing for this new relationship. Seeing the blushing and then the shake of the other's head confirming a 'no' to the v-card question. "That's alright. We could discuss more on the matter when the time comes in the future" he said, ending the talk about a particular subject. He presumed it will be a long ways since they haven't started the other intimate interactions that normally progress along steadily before the bedroom stuff. Thinking this will be his best chance at a long term romantic relationship. Couldn't help seeming relieved to hear the other is okay with the gift offer. "Yes, that's the word I was trying to say, commemorate" he thought and he was pleased to hear it used correctly. "Oh, like a matching pair? Even though I never wore a ring before nor a toy one at least I wouldn't be wearing it for myself" he said and he would cherish it nonetheless. He healed a tree that was barely alive by splitting almost all the way and leaning against another tree. Directly touching the trunk, the tree was standing up again in a matter of minutes fully attached to its lower half. Something square shaped fell from the branches as he was healing the tree and landed in a heap of broken vines nearby.

As he listened to Patrick, Saeki did recall the other mentioning earrings during their cook evening together. Patrick mentioned he had clip on earrings that hid his scar from an accident. though he got distracted when Patrick spoke of his powers with metal. "That sounds amazing." Saeki commented, his voice betraying how impressed he was that his boyfriend could even do that. The young swordsman couldn't even create jewelry the usual way. It was quite a marvel to think of. Perhaps he could learn to just Blacksmith but he didn't think he would ever be able to learn for goldsmith. He didn't miss Patrick calling it a secret however and he smiled a bit. "Your secret is safe with me." he promised. Never would Saeki speak of a secret from Patrick, he'd be as silent as the grave about it.
The young man could see the other live up completely once they mentioned their artistic craft and it looked like they were as enthusiastic about that as Saeki was about his training. "I still do some Calligraphy myself. Also not something I go around telling. For me it is a normal hobby but I learned quite soon that on this side of the ocean it's considered a girl's thing." he admitted about his own secret. Or it had become one since he came to live here. As normal as it seemed in Japan, here it was considered weird for a guy. That was the impression he got anyway. Soon they were talking about what jewelry to go for and Saeki smiled as he thought about it. Though if Patrick wasn't one for rings, he would need to find something else so the other could be just as happy about it. "Which would you prefer yourself? What type would really make you happy?" he then decided to ask straight.
"Thank you, so are you. I'm sure we can stay out of trouble together." he replied and smiled. When Patrick healed the tree though he stared in amazement as the proud tree got all back to it's healthy self. To see it happen before his eyes was really something. In the legends of his home only gods would be capable of such. "Wow..." he started but before he could say more he noticed something falling and he watched it drop on the forest ground. Saeki went to it and carefully moved the leaves to see what it was, Patrick's warning still fresh about traps and the like.

Patrick smiles at the other's comment, "Yes it is" he replied. Involved him to learn about metal and crystals to accurately manipulate them within their limits. "Have you decided if you're going to get a small tattoo too?" he asked which was part of the chat with the earrings back then. He didn't show the tattoo he has back then that is covered by his hair, but he doesn't mind doing it if his boyfriend wants to see it. "I believe you" he said to the promise, "I wouldn't have told you if I didn't trust you with it. Definitely don't want to attract bad attention to either one of us if those two abilities became public knowledge". His eyebrows rise to the mention of calligraphy, "That is something I hadn't heard of. I think of it as being on the same level homemaking and poetry. Popularity does determine the usual demographic. Wouldn't be surprising if boys do it too secretly like it is with sewing" he commented on the subject. He likes the art form, but it wasn't something he practiced that often. "If not a ring, which I suppose should be saved for that other special moment, then a bracelet or or necklace with maybe a stone resembles your eye color or your birth stone or something heart shaped. Nothing related to locks since I am superstitious about them" he answered and rubbed the back of his head in embarrassment about the latter. "I will leave it up to you. I don't know which would make me happy since I have never been given such a gift that can be worn on the body. So romantic" he added meekly. "I wonder when it is a good time to give him a spare key to my place for those 'just in case' situations" he thought to himself. "We could try. Although a little danger wouldn't be so bad" he said somewhat jokingly. Blushed a lot to the comment and removed his hand when the restoration was done. This was his first time using this ability on a tree and he had enough practice with other plants not to get distracted so easily. Saeki smiled a bit at the question, slightly surprised they remembered that. But then considering they were a couple now, he shouldn't really be surprised. After all, he also remembered a lot of the small things about Patrick. "I have, I do want one. Though my father will probably blow his casket if he sees it." he admitted frowning a slight bit at the thought about his quite traditional father. But then he shook his head. "Still, it is my decision now, not his." he admitted and chuckled a bit. "Then come more questions too though. Like where and what? Though I do know I would want it to mean something to me." Saeki was still a bit uncertain just what he wanted to put specifically and where. It wasn't a fleeting thought however, he already thought about it seriously for a bit now.
Soon though they spoke of the significant of keeping the secret and Saeki nodded. He could see how people might try the wrong things if they learned of Patrick's abilities. And more than likely he would be the chosen leverage now that he was his boyfriend. After all he was still only human, not by far as strong as Patrick. That was running ahead of the facts though. After all if they kept the secret well, no one would probably find out. He had blushed slightly at his admission about Calligraphy but he was glad that they didn't laugh at him. Not that he really expected Patrick to. Maybe he could make something for the man as a gift sometime. "I would be happy to find us something. But we could also look together. Perhaps find a matching pair but gifted. Of course self made would be even more romantic, but I am afraid I can't make jewelry like you do," he admitted and blushed slightly at the thought of wearing something Patrick made for him. The young man couldn't help but feel elated to hear Patrick speak of the gesture being romantic. And their ideas were good too.
Saeki didn't really have much prior experience for decisions as that but he would do his best. "Don't worry about superstitions, we all have them. I'll make sure there won't be locks." Saeki pledged solemnly. He didn't forget about their tattoo either but he was certain they would show him when they felt ready to do so. The young man got distracted when the square item fell though. He hadn't been focusing like he does with training after all. At those times his focus was absolute but now he was just enjoying the time. "I'm not sure." Saeki replied. After looking carefully he just noticed it being a square with some odd symbols on it. Considering it harmless, Saeki picked it up and walked closer to Patrick to show it. It looked like a bigger dice but instead of numbers there were symbols on it. Symbols unknown to the young man whom's only solid symbols were Japanese characters.

Patrick grabs a handful of trail mix from a bag from his bag to snack on a little while listening to Saeki. "Not surprising since tattoos were always associated with delinquents and criminals. Condemned people from getting a job if it was in a visible area of the body no matter what it is" he said and brushed off his crumbles from his beard with the side of his hand. He put away the bag, "On a side note people would put them in places where people they are intimate would ever see them" he added. "If I hadn't told you I had a tattoo would you have guessed that I did?" he asked out of curiosity. "Of course, one of the perks to becoming an independent adult"he commented actively listening. "I suggest looking up pictures of tattoos to get a feeling of the where and the what people typically go for. Roses, butterflies, and inspirational phrases are three of the popular things people go for"he suggested politely. Wasn't surprised to hear that latter phrase because it wasn't the first time hearing it from someone close to him especially of the human species and it being about crafts. Leaves his stomach in knots whenever he hears it or something similar. "I'm only good because I practice not just because of the abilities involved" he covered his mouth not meaning to say that out loud. Removed his hand once he regained his composure a bit, "Um, there is a jewelry shop in the city. We could check it out before deciding if we should go with the custom route or not" he suggested trying to put a pause on the topic. Couldn't help feeling ashamed about it, "Thanks. I appreciate the consideration, Saeki" he said, smiling slightly. He was relieved when nothing seemed to happen when his boyfriend picked up the square object. "No clue what the symbols mean, but it doesn't rule out the key possibility. Saeki smiled and nodded. "He knows that too. But he can be quite a traditional man in many aspects. In his eyes only the Yakuza would be wearing tattoos. But no I wouldn't have guessed you have one. There isn't really a specific type that gets them. But it does make me curious." he revealed some of his father and answered Patrick's question. It wasn't in spite about his father though. They may have different ideas at times, since the young man was slightly less traditional than his father was, but Saeki had nothing but respect for the man. "I'll have a look around at pictures like you say. It will be interesting to do more research." he agreed. The latter part of the conversation didn't seem to go over well though. Saeki was a little startled when Patrick suddenly spoke so strongly.
He couldn't help but feel bad about it, even though he had never specifically mentioned the abilities as process. He had merely spoken his impression towards Patrick about them being able to do it at all. Abilities or not. It would seem it might be a good idea to watch what he said around Patrick. This had been slightly unexpected. "Ok" was all he mentioned to say softly at that moment. But thankfully they were soon distracted about the tree and the odd 'gift' it had bestowed on them. The young man followed when they started to hike further and he kept the object clenched in his hand for now while he moved his bag from his shoulders while they walked and opened it to pull out a bottle of fresh water. Saeki opened it but before he drank from it he held it out to Patrick next to him first. "Do you want to drink something?" he asked gently. He may not be as experienced with hikes as his boyfriend was, but he did know water was a necessity. So he had brought plenty with him for today. They wouldn't want to end up parched and perhaps lost in the jungle after all and it was quite hot as well.

Patrick didn't want to ever see eye to eye with his own father let alone talk about anymore than he already has with other people. He certainly wasn't going to forgive him for his past misdeeds and neglect and had never been accepted by him. Kept to himself about the other's father because he felt he might say the wrong thing. Even so he was learning about the man he will most likely never meet in person. "You're the first to say that" he responded to the answer to his question. The gesture of his arm being touched meant a lot to him and it was the first time as far as he recall that the other has touched him on his own. He had his own bottles of water, but he didn't want to be rude by declining the generous offer. "Sure and thanks, Saeki" he said as he accepted the bottle. Removed the cap then took a long sip, "This water tastes different from what I'm used to" he thought, smiling a bit. He was going to offer a bottle to him or hand back the bottle he drank from when he noticed some critters running by them and increasing in size in the second. "Ugh, that's not a good sign" he commented, "Let's quickly head over to these bushes" he said then hearing birds suddenly taking flight. He thought it was best to hurry so he headed over to the bushes he mentioned and kneel behind them. He assumed there were reasons the animals could be behaving like this which are predators, natural phenomenon or something to do with what they found. Wasn't sure which reason he wanted to turn out to be, but he thought it would be very unpleasant to be all above.

It was curious how the other never seemed to have heard people mention they didn't expect any types to have tattoos. Working in the public branch and being less close minded than his father had ensured the young man grew up knowing any kind could get them. His father had often disapproved of tourists in the bath with tattoos though they never acted upon it. It was income after all. Saeki on the other hand would often end up talking to their customers, including the tattoo bearing ones and being curious. The young swordsman smiled when Patrick accepted the water. He had filled them just before leaving to ensure the water would be fresh and delicious. "You're welcome." he said blushing slightly when their hands touched. When the other was done though, before they could exchange the bottle again, suddenly all sorts of things happened.
Suddenly the jungle seemed to begin to mass move as critters ran by them. Saeki even had to step aside and nearly tripped when a few bigger ones passed them by. 'Weren't these wild ones supposed to be to scared to come near let alone touch a person?' he thought to himself. And it would seem he was right on the money because his boyfriend suddenly seemed a bit hurried and as the birds flew up they quickly went to hide in the bushes. Saeki had followed without a second thought, relying on Patrick's more experienced actions. He knelt next to Patrick as he fell silent and suddenly his expression was a lot more serious. A slight metallic sound could be heard as his practiced hand reached for his katana and pulled it out a bit just in case he needed it.
Saeki had never used this particular blade nor been in any real fight at all. But his training was evident at this moment, while his whole disposition changed to serious and focused. If something tangible and dangerous was headed for them, he wouldn't hesitate to defend himself, most of all to defend his boyfriend if necessary. Still his hand rested on the hilt for now as he kept it just above sheathed since haste was a bad company for anyone with his training. His breathing became controlled and even as he stared through the leaves. Of course if whatever was coming that was combattable but would pass them by without noticing them he wouldn't act, that would just be inviting danger to both. He was raised smarter than that. If combat could be avoided he would do so.

Patrick firmly held the water bottle in his left hand, but not enough to make the crinkle sound. Sweating a bit around the forehead due to anticipation of what's to come. Side glance at his boyfriend's direction when he heard something different from what was going on. Put him somewhat at ease that the other is near him and seemed pretty serious. A moment later, a saltwater crocodile that resembled black caiman high walked quickly making a loud hissing sound. "Maybe a hybrid specific for this island jungle. Wouldn't the birds" he thought. He was hoping the birds taking flight was a coincidence after witnessing the big reptile going after small animals. Not knowing it's typical behavior is what it made seem unpredictable to him. Let out a small sigh of relief when it was out of sight. "Its dwellings might be nearby and yet it's hunting so far away from the nearest source of water. We should probably take a different route out of the jungle" he suggested to be on the safe side. He slowly stood up then took another long sip because his mouth was feeling dry again. "What do you want to do now? Do you want to continue the hike a little longer and see where this cube belong to?" he asked him. He wanted to hear the other's input on the situation and what he thinks they should do next.

Saeki only glanced at Patrick enough to notice they looked pretty tense. Not that the young man blamed them, he knew little of their battle skill after all. It didn't matter either, if needed he would give his all to protect them both. After the quick glance his gaze was back at the area they just left as he waited with bated breath to see what would be coming. They didn't need to wait for long it seemed as a small crocodile, as Saeki saw it, suddenly came into view. When it hissed his hand tightened around the hilt of his katana ready for a fight if necessary, but the animal passed them by and didn't seem to heed them any notice. Saeki watched them pass by and move away before he finally allowed his breath to escape and sighed a bit relieved.
He wouldn't have known any hesitation, but it was still good to know they didn't end up in a situation that could have harmed Patrick, nor him of course but his first concern was his boyfriend now. "Well that was odd. I thought Crocodiles didn't stray far from their waters." he worded still a little tensed. When Patrick spoke again, the young man looked at them and nodded. Patrick knew more of them than he did. But he had been right about it being odd it seemed. The young man pushed his katana back into it's sheath fully with a click and leaned his arm on it as he listened to Patrick's question. Saeki was eager to continue to explore the jungle, but he didn't want to bring danger upon them. Even if he could fight a lot could happen. They did come here to explore though and his boyfriend had known it was dangerous. So perhaps it wouldn't be to bad.
"While I am loathed to bring us in a threatening situation as earlier, how big is the chance we run into that reptile again?" he asked, wanting to make an educated decision. "You know a lot more about these kind of places than I do. If you think it should be safe enough than I think we can continue a bit longer." he admitted and smiled a bit as he stepped till next to Patrick again. "What do you think, Patrick?" Saeki would make his opinion on Patrick's information so he would know more of the situation. This jungle was an entire new place for him. Both experience as area. But it seemed Patrick at least had a lot of experience with the hiking on such places as this.

Patrick believed if the croc came back they could just climb up a tree. Wouldn't be a problem for him and he thought it wouldn't be a problem for his boyfriend if such a situation arises. "From the looks of it, this one is different from the ones you would expect to be a jungle or in the U.S. and I think this is one of those natural selection situations. Doesn't seem like it hunts outside of the confines of the jungle, but doesn't mean this place isn't big enough for more than one. We should probably be even more alert than before of another or the same one popping up again" he answered and hypothesized about the reptile. "I did some general research and watched a documentary about jungles. There isn't any written information that goes into details about this specific jungle. Still it was a good decision not to bring Hiro, but not to explore alone" he responded. He happened to look up while Saeki was asking him another question and noticed something large lounging on a large branch of a tree. Noticed the spotted coat and the swinging of its tail among the gaps of the leaves and concluded it's a leopard. "Best to get a move on before the leopard decides on what it wants to do" he said looking back down to watch where he was stepping at. "Oh, here's your bottle back" he handed out to him the almost half full bottle of water. "It was very tasty. More than what I am used to" he admitted.

"A Solean Crocodile then. If we are lucky their taste changed away from anything larger than a mouse." Saeki said. He was glad the other was here. Though he would be able to tell the animal's behavior was strange, he would certainly not have thought of hiding. Who knew what that crocodile would have done then. It would seem this was suddenly more a dangerous journey than a hike. Still, the young man wasn't one to say no to adventure. He nodded and listened to what Patrick said. Only when they mentioned a leopard did Saeki suddenly look up and was taken aback a bit. Had that leopard been there this entire time? Still if he went by Patrick's words they weren't sure yet whether to attack or leave them be at which case Saeki was all for moving on so it didn't have to choose for them.
"I agree, better Hiro is safely home. Good idea, let's go." he agreed with the other and followed him close behind, moved to next to them and kept an eye on their surroundings since. Also for structures or even buildings. If he had to be truthful he was immensely curious now as to what item they found and if any old civilization traces could still be found. Though he didn't exactly announce it everywhere, Saeki was terribly interested in history. And this Jungle was sure to have loads of it if they were lucky. Saeki smiled when he was given the bottle back and drank some water himself before he would close it once more and put it back in his bag, standing still for a moment just so he wouldn't accidentally wander where he shouldn't.
Once he finished he would make sure he was with Patrick once more and they continued their vigilance. This place was amazing and even though it was all but safe, Saeki enjoyed the sounds around them. The scent was unusual as well. Though the air was rather suffocating perhaps. It definitely wasn't the type the young man was used to, coming from the mountains. Though the air was thin there the higher you went, it was crisp and clear, unlike here where the air felt dense and thick. Even being as fit as he was, the young man noticed it wasn't easy on him, but he wasn't going to turn back now, his curiosity and eagerness to enjoy this time with Patrick weighing heavier to him right now than some slight discomfort. How often did you get a chance to do this?
Still he couldn't help it when he tripped over a raised root and landed on his hands wanting to break his fall. Though he had avoided hitting the ground with his head, he couldn't say the same for one of his wrists. "Ow, by the Kami." he said softly but he soon blinked as he turned on his side a bit. "Hmm?" His sound of pain made way for a surprised one as he stared at what looked like once a very colorful statue. Saeki sat up, one knee raised as he rested his sore wrist on it and brushed himself off with his good hand slightly wincing before he reached the hand out carefully to clean some of the statue he had noticed. "The information you got about this specific jungle, did that happen to include this?" he asked curiously, his sore wrist forgotten for now. He wasn't really to flustered, it wouldn't be the first time it got injured. And right now his curiosity held reign.
