Lady Ravena Vauville
Having stepped out ages ago, she finally returns, a small box of doughnuts in one hand. Whistling a merry pirate tune, she turned the corner into the dim corridor on the second floor where Tobias had taken up residence. It was at her insistence that he get his own room. After all, he couldn't spend all of his nights out on her balcony in the cold. Arriving at his door, she knocked lightly and announced her presence.

"Toby? I'm back, and I brought some more doughnuts~!" She sang out, jiggling the small box for emphasis. Usually, that would bring him running, or at least walking quickly. Receiving no answer, she assumed he'd stepped out. Digging around in her pocket, she produced a key ring with several different keys in various colors. Most were for things she kept locked away, but others were for different things entirely. One of them just happened to be a key to his room. It wasn't too strange, he had a key to hers as well.

Sticking it in the lock and turning it, she let herself in, twirling the key ring around her fingers as she stepped into the room. Closing the door behind her with a toe, she placed the keys back in her pocket and headed for the kitchenette, setting the box down on the counter. He would see them as he walked in, which was perfect. Heading over to the couch and plopping herself down on a cushion, she began to take her shoes off, setting them by the door.

"Might as well make myself at home, who knows when he'll get back.." she mused, stretching out on his couch. She spent lots of time here, and knew he wouldn't mind her being here. They were best friends, so it made sense. Misa would occupy herself with television until Tobias got back, starting with the music channels. He had a love of music, though eclectic in nature, wasn't too bad. She'd warm up her voice and sing a few songs for now, being mindful of those anons still sleeping at this hour.

Returning from being out and about, Tobias paused at his door hearing sounds inside. A smile tugged at his lips as he recognized the voice singing. Sure enough, there was Misa when he opened the door.
"Hello, Misa my dear. Not waiting too long on me, I trust?"
Turning to close the door behind him, his eyes caught sight of the box and his smile turned to a grin.
"You spoil me in the best ways."
Picking the box up, he brought it to the coffee table and set it down. Sitting on the couch, he shifted his gaze to her.
"So Misa my dear, what is new with you?"

Hearing his footsteps in the hall, she picked up the tv remote and turned the volume down. It wasn't very loud, but now it would just be background noise. Misa forgot to lock the door again when she came in. Oops. She'll do better next time. Swinging her legs off the couch and sitting up, a smile lit up her face.

"Not too long, no. Did you have a good day?" That was the first thing she always asked him. Not only was it natural curiosity, it was genuine concern for her friend's well-being. The more invasive questions would come later.

"That's because I love you, and you're fun to spoil." It was true, and she did spoil him often. Shifting position so she was now sitting beside him, she laid her head on his shoulder and wrapped her arms about his middle.

"Same old, same old, I'm afraid. I am taking classes now that will help me be a better princess down the road. They're exhausting, though.. I do enjoy most of them, but it's nice to just do my own thing every once in awhile. Hug?" She was already hugging him, but that's not the point. Being held was the best part anyway.

"Of course, Misa my dear. What might you like to do in this spare time you have from your classes?"
The horned male would just sit and hold her as long as she wanted. It seemed like she might be in need of the comfort.

"Good. Did you meet any cute girls? Asking for a friend." You can practically hear the smirk in her voice. She was mostly kidding, anyway. He knew just when to give her the hug fix she needed, and that's why they're bffs. He needed other friends, besides her anyway. Regardless of gender, she enjoyed hugs, and being held was very relaxing.

"No sweetie, not on Gaia. In my kingdom they do. I mean, I guess it's my kingdom now.." She was still unsure of how things were run, but she was learning everything bit by bit. She never had aspirations to rule, but she had made her decision, and she was going to stick by it no matter what.

Misa thought about that for a moment. Not entirely sure, the princess just shrugged, turning her attention back to the music still playing softly throughout the room from the tv. "I'm not sure, did you have something in mind?" They might end up just watching a movie or something, it was always the default option.

Chuckling, he nodded.
"I did in fact. She was lost and I helped her to find her way back. A friend, huh?"
His brow raised in amusement, but he just smiled. Listening to her speak of ruling, a few fingers idly began to stroke her spine. He knew that usually helped her relax further.
"I see. I trust you will not over work yourself.."
His head gave a slight shake as he shrugged as well.
"Nothing in particular. I thought you might have had an idea. It does seem as though you need some relaxation time, so something calming would probably be best."

"Yes, a friend. I'm trying to hook her up, you see. Was she cute?" Well, she was nothing if not committed to her jokes, as awful as they were. Ravena thoroughly enjoyed the spine stroking, as it considerably calmed her down. The small princess happily curled up against him to preserve body warmth. Now he'd be hard-pressed to get her to leave.

"I'm trying not to, but I make no promises. It makes me feel useful, like I actually have a reason to keep on going." A rather depressing statement, as statements go, but it was true. The little mage apprentice felt like she was rotting from the inside out, and if she didn't have anything to occupy her thoughts, she was afraid the past might repeat itself.

"Well, you're right about that. I feel a bit.. run down, I guess. Did you want to watch something? I'm not sure what's on tv at this hour, but it's worth a shot?" It wasn't even a loaded question. Ravena didn't do loaded questions. She straight up told you how she was feeling at any given time. Unless she wasn't feeling up to it, that is. It all depended on who she was talking to, and how much she trusted them. Toby was her solid rock, someone she could just go to to hang out without any pretense or drama involved.

"I am not sure, have I met your friend? How will I know if my tastes in cute are a match?"
He could go along with her jokes, it's part of how they usually interacted. Sighing, he gave her a gentle squeeze as his smirk turned to a gentle smile.
"You are useful and with purpose. And for what it is worth, the dearest friend I have. You are a bright spot in the world to more beings than I believe you realize."
His gaze shifted to the tv a moment as he thought about what might be on. If he watched anything it was usually a movie he happened to flip to around this time in the day.
"Then let us relax and flip through the channels to see what we can find. If we do not find something to pique our interest, we can always put a movie on."
Picking up the remote, he handed it to her. Part of him figured she'd know more about what channels would be best to check.

"Oh, yes. You know her very well, I think. I'm pretty sure you have good taste in cute, you put up with me for goodness' sake." Ravena wasn't directly calling herself cute, what a blasphemous thing to say aloud. She loved getting to joke around like this, being around nobles all day could get kinda boring.

"Thank you.. I really needed to hear that. No one ever really says those things to me, so it's nice to hear." Laying her head on his shoulder with a sigh, she linked arms with him, just enjoying his company. Taking the remote, she immediately flipped to the tv guide channel. It was much easier than channel flipping at any rate.

"Well, if nothing good is on, what movie would you want to watch? I know what I want, but what do you want? I mean, aside from doughnuts, tea, and the occasional platonic snuggle." Man, she was killing it today with the jokes. It was a shame she didn't have more of an audience, but there would be plenty of time to turn the charm on her other friends later.

((I'm sorry for the delay, I've been in a bad place the past week or so, but I'm doing better now.))

A grin was now firmly on his face. His eyes practically called out,'You pretty much called yourself cute.' He chuckled unable to help himself.
"Does this mean I am not the only one who thinks that of you loudly then?"
Resting his chin lightly atop her head, he breathed a sigh.
"You are welcome. I do wish you heard it more. However, it might be others do not always know how or when to voice such things. Perhaps they think you already know how they feel and think they do not need to say it aloud."
Lifting his head, he chuckled as he gazed down at her. She really had him pegged with what he liked.
"What did you have in mind? I am not sure, perhaps one of those ones not in color. I find those relaxing. Heh, seems I should want for nothing then."
Shifting his gaze to the screen, he watched to see if anything of interest came up.

((Perfectly alright, you know I'm in no rush. Never fret about replying to me. ))

Permit me a moment to take an aside. I have been gifted and would like to thank someone.

A gift I was given but in a way unsigned,
Pretty box and note with but a heart left behind.
Such good taste, and you seem to have mine down,
Hues of the red variety will never earn a frown.
Yet you have me at a loss, my dear so kind,
How to thank one when you I can not find?
Perhaps in time I will come to know your name,
Or could it be you are trying to avoid any fame.
Whatever your reason for being so generous to me,
Thank you my dear, from one most often hard to see.

Never fret about replying to me. ))

"Of course not, don't be silly. " Ravena wasn't going to give him the satisfaction of pouting, or blushing, or anything of the sort. She settled for lightly pinching his arm as a means to put an end to the matter. He was probably right, though. If she knew anything about the others, it was that they tended to be perceptive only when it came to their own problems. It wasn't necessarily a bad thing, but she did wish for some kind of reciprocation every now and then.

"I guess so. I do wish they wouldn't automatically assume I didn't need to hear these things, though. It's rather important to me.." she murmured, scanning the lit of channels as they scrolled down the television screen. It wasn't hard to guess what he liked. After all, they'd spent a lot of time together these past couple of years. A few movies piqued her interest, but she concentrated on what Toby might like to watch instead.

"They have a classic movie channel. They're playing Gone With the Wind, or are about to. I've seen it before, but it's been quite a few years. It's rather long, but do you want to give it a try?" It was a favorite of hers, both the book, and the movie. If he didn't know what it was about, she was only too happy to tell him. There were other options as well, but it couldn't hurt to run this one by him first before changing the channel.

((I know, but I always feel bad when I can't chug them out on a regular basis like I used to.))

Giving her a wink, a smirk played about his lips.
"Misa my dear, I would never be silly in such a situation. All seriousness here as it were."
The horned male took the pinch in good nature, he only teased around the subject because he considered what he thought to be perfectly spot on. Shrugging, he gave her an apologetic smile.
"I can understand that. However it can be difficult for some to express how they feel."
He raised a brow looking at the description of the movie she mentioned.
"I am not familiar with it. Do you think it would be something I would enjoy?"
Shifting his gaze back to her, he waited expectantly. If anyone knew what he might enjoy in a movie, it would be her.

((Better to be slow and thoughtful, then chug out something not as much to your liking. ))

"All seriousness, huh? I hope so. Also, I have a tiny request. Would you mind calling me Rae from now on? I like it more than Misa. Plus, I'm not the person I was when I was given that nickname. Rae seems more fitting, anyway." The movie would start in a couple minutes, but she wouldn't rush him. If they missed the first few minutes, it wasn't the end of the world. Besides, if she remembered correctly, there was a few minutes of credits and exposition text before the movie actually began.

"If you want, I wouldn't mind you calling me Rae-Rae. But, just you, okay?" It was embarrassingly adorable, but as long as it was only her best friend who used it, she didn't mind so much. "As far as the movie goes, it's rather long, and takes place during the American Civil War. It follows the life of a woman named Scarlett O'Hara, a rich lady who falls in and out of love many times, marries a right awful man whose name I've long since forgotten, and experiences many tragedies in her life. If that's not something you're interested in, I think I saw Mary Poppins on the Disney channel.."

There were many options for this hour of the day, but if he wasn't interested in any of them, they'd simply put one from his collection on to watch. As far as the subject of other people validating her existence went, she didn't have any other comments to make, so she let it go. It wasn't that important anyway. For now, she just wanted to spend some quality time with her friend, and that's exactly what they were going to do.

((I suppose so. Is that one of your Tobyisms?))

((I suppose so. Is that one of your Tobyisms?))

His eyes closed a moment as he considered this.
"If that is what you prefer, then so shall I refer to you. I hope you will forgive any slip ups that may occur. You are different, but in certain ways still the girl I first met but a few years ago. However I may address you, know you will always be considered dear to me."
Ruby eyes opened to mere slits at her next words. Shifting a little, he turned more to face her and lightly hooked a finger under her chin. Tilting her face up a little, he gazed down at her a moment.
"Is that right? I feel privileged to be able to use such a sweet name."
He moved his hand from her chin and turned his head back to the tv.
"If it will bring you even a measure of happiness, then consider it your newest affectionate nick name."
Here he paused and looked at her from the corner of his eye.
"You know I will do damn near anything to make a friend smile, Rae-Rae my dear."
His expression turned thoughtful as he pondered the description she gave.
"Perhaps we should save that for another time. Would it not be better to perhaps watch something a little happier? I do not think I know that movie either."
The second option seemed like it could be happier, but one could not be completely sure. He chuckled softly to himself, there was still much to see and learn in this world. It seemed to remind him constantly in some way or another that he was very much out of his element.

((Heh no, that was really more off the cuff than anything. ))

The day following the start of the karaoke contest, a knock sounded on Tobias' front door. Sammy took a step back and tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear. She remembered shortly after saying good-bye that they never really decided on a place to hold the dance lesson, so she figured she might as well pay him a visit at the appointed hour. I hope I'm not waking him... she thought to herself as she waited, arms folded behind her back.
