I like the idea of a more general fantasy setting and multiple creatures to get the multifacetedness we had at Soq with the various breeds. Mind I will forever associated you with the Wolpertingers that were among my first B/C pets. I would love to see a version of them somewhere again. heart

Love all the ideas being bounced about! <33
I like the idea of fantasy based equine! I think that would be totally killer, and original enough to NOT be soquili.
Plus, adding in gryphons and hippogryhps would be fun too!
=D
The lines everyone has been showing are nifty.

I would love to see a version of them somewhere again. heart HOLYSHIT I COULD REDO THOSE LINES AND ADD THEM! this could also give me a reason to see about adapting the Sandpaints lines again -- Zephilis gave me ownership of all of it and I have them in my external harddrive. I've just.. Never had the time to do so because I was so busy trying to keep soquili running. There was a ton of stuff already in use there, and in the Wolpertingers united shop...

I have not read all the conversation, but personally I think we start with horses, just so people who have displaced soquili and those who might not want to stay under Sirenz rule have a place to transition their family.
We wouldn't have to give them art for it, if they just want to use their soq, and can probably move their plots over fairly easily with minimal adjustment, if wanted?
But, I think on top of that, since soquili had been a spirit world back in the native lands, we could open this up to a more fantasy sort of spirit-animal/fantasy-animal land.
Gryphons, Hippogryphs, Dragons.
I still say we keep the main focus (to start) on the equines, and I would like to see at least as much variety in the soquili verse. But. That's a lot of lines and line variation for equines.
Would it, if we are allowing people to transition plots and RPs over to this world with their old soq or old pony RP, instead of making all the art at the get go, what if we just started bringing in those alternative breeds as breedings progress?
I mean, think about it. Say you have someone transition their soq over -- they don't have the lines for this shop, but we're letting them use their old, displaced ponies. They win a breeding between a wind and a kalona or something. The breeders realize the kids are going to wind up on our new equine lines, but maybe one of them is going to need leather wings, and the other feathered wings and horns, and we just don't have that as a 'breed' yet.
We could kind of just make them as we go?
I just don't want anyone going o____o over the potential soquili or displaced unique looking ponise that might crop up and go "we don't have liiiiiines" right off the bat.
Otherwise, I think keeping it a general fantasy setting would be good.
We could have story book fantasy beasts, as well as shop originals -- I for one would love to make something called a saber-wolf. They were wolves, with saber fangs that stood anywhere from 6-8 feet and were notorious for hunting unicorns/fantasy equines for meals. They were an old creation of mine, but if we are sort of using this place as literally a sanctuary, maybe people of old wolf shops might want to transition somewhere that have some form of fantasy wolf as a breed?
Goodness, now I'm rambling.
Long story short -- equines to start -- depending on the world that's built (something familiar enough for ease of transition, but unique enough to build on it) we can introduce other lines, too.

I posted this in another thread but I looooove these guys: [x]. I also like the idea of having not just equine pets but gryphons and proper dragons, even if they may be rarer to keep the shop mostly equid in nature. I agree with Uta though, we can start with equine and then move to the others later.
The 'Neverland' idea was mentioned in the other thread we have open, where we can bring in pets from other shops to RP. It would be a true sanctuary in that respect, for all pets young and old, and would open it up so that people could RP their established families while not stepping on the toes of the other shops. There could be that lingering magic in the land which makes 'wishing star' like children from couples, the parents from different worlds. The children would be molded by the shape of the land (the new lineart) but their spirits would be like a true breeding.

Would bringing art over from another shop be okay as far as Gaia ToS standards?

And agree with all the other stuff biggrin *cheers on everyone* Also could we maybe combine those two threads? Kinda all the same info in two places a tiny bit. <333

xD Amirynth those stag beast things, i just took a commission to make lines for them in natures wonders (but they are super cute and not epic at all ) would be cool to see them in a more mature lineart :3
8D thank you lunadriel, im finding myself becoming increasingly attached to them by the hour :,D

So, my figure is, they are not bringing the art over. Not really. They're bring the character/personaly over. They would be considered OC's and the character itself would just be RPed in our setting. There wouldn't be official lines or official art for them (unless we made a transition thread, which happened in an old Pern Gaia shop of mine after it closed unexpectedly) but people could still RP them just without official shop lines.
Say I brought one of my ponies over, Zara. She was originally made on soq lines. She's a unicorn that's pink with all sorts of pretty spirals and stuff. I don't have art for The Sanctuary, so when I would RP her, I'd just have to describe what she looked like. If people really wanted an idea, I could point them to the old soq art and say that was her inspiration, was her old soq form, but carry on. It would only come up if someone wanted to see what I meant when she had a paisley coat.
So I'd just RP this unicorn OC named Zara, and say she has kids with her other old soq uni mate Hadrian, in the Sanctuary during a breeding raffle. I'd show colorists their old art, so they know the inspiration for these OC's, and call it a day?
I think this is a grey area because I've seen shops where people get characters redone in other shops all the time. Or characters roleplayed that are inspired/based on other shop characters/personalities. So I don't see it as thieving art, since we'd only be using the soq art as a reference ONLY on what this new OC looks like?
Does that make any sense?
That's my brain logic right now. We're not using soquili certs/arts and saying "These are from the Sanctuary!" which would be art theft. It's the persons character, without lines or art in the Sanctuary, that is being RPed. The soq cert would be used as an old art reference only.
I'm also not a judge on this -- this is just the way my logic worked, since I have seen soquili/characters show up in other shops.

/firmly wants ponies. I've /always/ failed to stay at other shops... EXCEPT Numa but then it ;o; >.> ANYWAYS. And I think part of that is that I have in my own way very bland tastes. XD I like regular ole ponies biggrin
